Why does my screen saver stay all of the time? It never goes to sleep. What do I need to do to correct this??

My laptop drops the wi-fi connection every time the cover closes for sleep mode. It just started doing that recently. What settings should I do to make it stay connected? My other Apple devices continue to work normally.

My iMac is some 2 years old and have never had this problem before but twice in the last week it has failed to awake from sleep mode and I have had to hold the start button to 'wake' it up. It then goes through the usual procedure that transpires afte 'logging off'

My iMac will not come out of sleep mode and if it does it takes a really long time to do so. I've looked at several things in other forums and it seems to be a Maverick issue. However it only started about a month ago and most people have had this issue since the release of Maverick. I also read to use the bluetooth keyboard and mouse instead of a USB one. That also did not fix the problem. So I am at a standstill ...

My iMac is about 4 months old and about twice a month after sleeping overnight the computer will not wake up. After several attempts pressing keys on the keyboard and clicking on the mouse, I have to unplug the Mac and then press the start button on the back
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen my iMac 27" is in sleep mode I have noticed that the hard drive spins up very regularly every 4 or 5 minutes. Also when placed in sleep, the monitor takes about 30 seconds to go black. It also wakes on its own for no apparent reason. No new software has been added, only normal updates, running Lion. Time machine backup is done every couple weeks.
View 5 Replies View Related2010 iMac running 10.9.4. Lately certain programs are forced to close on a regular basis. This includes Safari, Mail, Crashplan. It usually happens when the computer is sleeping. When I wake up the computer first thing in the morning, I usually have 3 - 4 messages saying that certain programs were forced to restart. This can also sometimes occur when the computer is not sleeping, but when I am using it. Typically it's Safari that is forced to restart.
Recently upgraded RAM and added Crashplan software for data backup.

When I need to go somewhere or just eat lunch, I put my iMac to sleep. After that, when I come back to wake it back up, it stays black.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently, tried leaving my iMac in sleep mode for hours but it keeps crashing with those Crash Reports popping up when I click to wake it. They mention Kernel Panics.(Also, been getting Kernel Panics randomly popping up when I start up at the desktop. This is a 2010 iMac which I purchased refurbished not quite a year ago Already emailed seller with issues, think I might just return it as seems like hard drive is going. , as to troubleshooting before I go this route?

I'm having a problem with my PowerBook G4 where is goes into sleep mode at random times. Mostly when I am streaming video..or at times the fan comes on, it sounds super high then boom. sleep mode again. After hitting the space bar, it comes back on, but it'll happen again shortly after. I've played with the sleep settings
View 5 Replies View RelatedAs of last night, my MBP started acting very strangely. After entering my username and password, it would enter the desktop for a short period of time and then kick back into sleep mode; the screen would turn back to black. Sometimes it will let me stay on the desktop for a long time and other times it will hardly let me stay on the desktop. I called apple support and they had me start the computer in safe mode; even then it occasionally kicks me out.
The tech guy said that it was a "strange software issue" and not a hardware issue. I thought it was a hard drive issue; my hard drive makes an odd sound when it unlocks (a grinding sound), but it has been doing that for quite some time with no issues. I tried to reset the SMC and it didn't do anything.
How should I remedy this problem? Is this a hard drive issue? Hard drive failure? Has the grinding sound finally caught up with me? I am running OS X; not leopard or snow leopard. I know I need to upgrade, but this shouldn't be happening.
My parents just bought a new Imac (3.4 Ghz/I7) which is running 10.6.8. and we cannot figure out why it won't go to sleep automatically. In System Preferences/Engergy Saver we have set both the "computer sleep" and "display sleep" to about 5 minutes, but no matter what we do it keeps showig the screen saver and never goes to sleep. The "put hd to sleep" is checked, and the start screen saver is set to roughly the same amount... I have tried adjusting these settings, to no avail.

My iMac keeps going into sleep mode (at least that what it looks like) for no apparent reason.
By "sleep mode" I mean the screen goes black, the sleep light fades on and off, as if it were in sleep mode, and the fan shuts off. When I press enter, it turns back on and the fan turns on very hight and loud.

My Mac would not turn on this morning from sleep mode. I pressed the power button and nothing. Then I did it again and heard the fan shut off inside so I tried again and up it came. Also I cannot wake my Mac up unless I press the power button. I used to press any key on the keyboard or move the mouse and it would wake up, but now that doens't work. I don't know if this could be a reason, but my mother has a horrible habit of unplugging it when it storms. It's always asleep and I've told her not to do that and to make sure it's turned off before ripping the cord from the wall. But she continues to do it when it storms.

Computer would only start after sleep mode if I unplugged the power cord. The power button would not do anything, even if I held it for a long time.
Shut down and start up would work normally. Only effected sleep mode.
After much trouble shooting I found that I had a bad USB hub. Everything on the bad USB hub would work fine so I didn't suspect it.

Is it best to turn off my 27" i7 processor iMac or put it into sleep mode when it's not in use? ie sleep or leave the house. Also the fan has just turned on, never heard it before. I am watching a video whilst converting another into mp4 format. Is that why?

My iMac shut itself down last night while in sleep mode. It's rarely ever turned off. I cannot get it started today. I'm not the most tech saavy person but can follow instructions if someone could walk me through it.
Purchased in 2006 and has worked well until now. AppleCare has expired.

My iMac24" can't booting in normal mode, but booing in safe mode only.

I installed two SSD drives into my 27" i7, one in the SSD location and one replacing the optical drive. So I have two SSD's (128GB + 256GB) and the stock WD 1TB drive.
My issue is once I put the machine in sleep mode, the iMac is ejecting the SSD's. If I boot off of the hard drive and then put it in sleep mode, I will drop both SSD's. If I boot off of one of the SSD's and put it in sleep mode, the SSD that was used for booting will not be ejected, but the other one will.
Anyone else running multiple SSD's (not in raid) and is having the same issue? I am beginning to think that I will have to live with just one SSD as the boot drive (which is not the end of the world). Or, cough up an extra $540 (not likely) for another 256GB SSD and raid 0 two of them as boot drives.
My iMac G5 (rev A) shuts down immediately after i put it to sleep mode after just starting up the computer. The longer the computer has been on before I put it to sleep, the longer it takes for the computer to shut down while in sleep mode. I already did the hardware test and it said there were no problems.
