I an getting an error saying driver information not available (for a supported printer) even though it sees it attached to USB and I have installed the drivers on the computer.

Out of the blue tonight, my Mac Mini running OS X Lion will no longer secure erase my empty space. Whenever I try to do so, I get the following error: "Secure Erase Free Space failed with the error: Some information was unavailable during an internal lookup" I've rebooted to no avail. I also did a complete shut down and boot up, but the error persists.

I get a -5000 access denied error every time I try to install Canoscan driver software. I tried repairing permissions, rebooted etc. It still happens. I cannot scan.

Check the printer power and connection, and then try sending printing job again."
I have tried the basics - turning off and on the printer, rebooting the MacBook Pro, printing from different applications, making sure Job Accounting is not checked in setup, seeing that the driver seems like it's acknowledged, checking and unchecking sharing prefs.

I had a Dell 1100 laser printer working on my iMac (G4 ball type) using a GIMP printer. I had to reset the queue and lost the driver. I can't remember which GIMP driver I used. Also, although I have loaded the latest GIMP s/w, I can't seem to get to them in Tiger 10.4.6.

Now I'm facing the problem of having to transfer all my settings, iTunes info, Keychain, Apps/Serial Numbers/Permissions, etc. from the old system/drive to the new system/drive. How do I do this? (I'd like to be able to sync my iPhone again instead of being told it's already associated with a different computer!)I should add that the new system is already installed, so using a program like Carbon Copy Cloner would just erase that. I also already had data on the drive where the new system was installed, so wiping the drive was out of the question.

I have a problem when saving a pdf using preview.
I create a document using Xelatex and the document works fine just after it is created, i.e. it looks good, it can be searched, etc. The problem comes when I save the document using preview. For example if I add a note, or highlight something and save the document, it automatically losses all text information.
It can still be opened and looks good, but it cannot be searched any more. In addition, if I try to copy a part of the text all I get are some strange characters that look like a small square with a face on it.
If I do the same procedure (i.e. open, highlight some text, and save) using pdf acrobat reader, the file is still readable both in acrobat and preview. It has to be fonts related, since it only happens when I use xelatex or latex with some specific fonts, but not with all of them.

I recently got a new MacBook Pro, and I successfully transferred all of my information onto my new computer from my old MacBook. I also bought a new external hard drive. I used Time Machine to back it all up. It says that it transferred everything, but all I can see are the Applications. I've been using Microsoft Entourage 2008 for my mail client but have recently encountered a problem - upon opening Entourage I get an error message that says, Microsoft Sync Services has encountered a problem and needs to close Regardless of what block I click on the error message will not go away and comes back within 10 seconds or so.I want to start using Mail, but I want to import the mailboxes I have in Entourage. In Mail, when I go to import from Entourage it does not work it says it cannot find the mailboxes in Entourage.Is there another way I can do this import? I have put the wrong driver on my IMac running OSX 10.7.3 and need to go to an older driver. I've tried to find out where the drivers are but no sucess. There is a driver for XBox 360 game controllers that I loaded and it appears in System Preferences but controller hardware is not recognized by the driver even though the System profiler see's the XBox 360 controller listed under USB devices. I'm trying to remove the current driver and load an older driver which some people say works. I can't find any system file with the name XBox 360 in it on my computer but when I try to install an older version of the driver it doesn't allow me because it says I have a newer version on my drive. So in general, how do you remove non functioning drivers?

Months ago I downloaded and installed the Lion compatible drivers required that worked fine. Yesterday (with no reason, no changes, nothing at all: just working) the printer started to refuse to print as it asked for a different paper format: A4 or Letter. Despite many attempts to specifically send print jobs in A4, which is the paper format loaded in the tray, the printer continued to refuse all prints.Today I ended up removing the printer from the list, as it became unnecessary, and I also liked to uninstall the printer driver as well, since Canon released a newer version.Currently, when trying to reinstall the printer, 2 drivers are displayed: UK and US. This lets me assume that those 2 drivers are still installed in my system: I wanted to remove both of them and start from scratch by reinstall the driver and he printer as the system was new. How can I remove the driver, so that Lion won't recognize it and that I could make a clean install of the previous working printer?

Just out of the blue, I can't print using my epson 600, a multi use printer that I have set up on my network.

I keep getting "Open error 18446744073709551594: “Unknown error: -22”" when trying to repair disk permissions. When I boot in recovery mode and try to repair the disk I get the message that the disk can't be repaired that I should back up my files and reformat. Since I hace been hearing about the Flashback trojan I am not sure if it is because my Mac is infected or simply because I somehow messed up with my HD. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Will it be any good to reinstall Lion? Is there any way of avoiding reformatting?

My Mac recognizes the printer connected to the Time Capsule, but keeps aksing me to "Choose a Driver or Printer Model" when I am setting it up. I have downloaded the Canon print driver from the Canon website and I can find the Canon folder on my hard drive. However, it seems that I can't fine the actual driver.

I have an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner. It is a fine scanner that has served me well for many years through many different operating systems, Windows as well as Mac OS X. The scanner software is no longer supported by Epson for OS X Lion. The only way I can now san is by using the drivers that are built into the OS. I can access the scanner either through System Preferences/Print & Scan, or use Image Capture. Unfortunately, all the scans are of an extremely poor quality. I can no longer scan fibrant colors or stong blacks, the entire scan is now murky and all colors as well as the blacks and greys are faded.
