A PC on our network is doing printer sharing with a Canon MP530. I can get all the Windows PCs to print off it but I can't get our Mac to do so. Our one Mac user has to unfortunately email everything to someone else to print it for her. Would like to solve that problem.
I already tried downloading and installing drivers for the printer but still don't allow it over the network.
I'm using an sr mbp and I'm typing up a lot of notes for a class with mac office. In order to save paper I want to do duplex prints but I can't seem to find the option in page setup. How do I get to this feature?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Time Capsule for my Mac, and now I am able to hook up a Canon laser printer directly to it. My Mac recognizes the printer connected to the Time Capsule, but keeps aksing me to "Choose a Driver or Printer Model" when I am setting it up. I have downloaded the Canon print driver from the Canon website and I can find the Canon folder on my hard drive. However, it seems that I can't fine the actual driver.

I would like to use a perfectly good Canon Pixma ip4200 printer with OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and  Yosemite 10.10.1 on my 2013 model iMac but Canon say they do not do a driver for these more recent versions of OSX later than 10.7. Is there any way to get this to work?

I was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000. Print jobs remained held in the queue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement. The printer works fine with my Windows laptop. I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed. I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options. And no idea how to get printer options.

My Canon MF8380 had been working fine with my MacBook Pro (printing wirelessly), and all of a sudden today I am getting an error that says: "Canon CMFP Printer Driver: Printer is not responding. Check the printer power and connection, and then try sending printing job again."
I have tried the basics - turning off and on the printer, rebooting the MacBook Pro, printing from different applications, making sure Job Accounting is not checked in setup, seeing that the driver seems like it's acknowledged, checking and unchecking sharing prefs.

Canon advertises this printer as having ONLY Windows drivers, however there is a solution if you are interested in buying the printer (I bought one for around AUD150, delivered in Melbourne). As reported in Macosxhints here there is an OSX driver for the Canon LBP3000. Go to the linked Canon page (which is in Japanese) then scroll to near the bottom of the page for links to the driver (MXCAPT160). Download that and install it. Edit: The printer dialogue (when you attach it) is then in English. It doesn't offer all the options available in Windows (mainly output quality & economy modes) but is fine for straightforward printing to A4, letter, legal, A5, A6 and a couple of Japanese envelope sizes (Yougata-4 approximates DL).

It only mentions PowerMac G3 in the installation instructions. A friend told me that you can download the appropriate version for my laptop from the internet, but I don't know how to do this. Could you give me any advice about how to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently obtained a 2013 Macbook air 13" and upgraded the os to Yosemite. I plugged in my travel printer, Canon BJC-85 and there is no driver compatible. The mac recognized it as plugged in but under the list of available installed drivers there is nothing that will work with it.Â
I tried to do a software update but it says my system is already up to date. I went to the canon website and it said mac OS X already has the drivers.Â
I used this printer on another mac OS X laptop and it had the drivers already like it should.Â

I have installed the Canon MP380 printer driver for my new imac but I cannot find it listed under the Canon model name in Printer Setup. All I see are "gimp beta" this or that. When I try to print the text is too small. It's not filling up the standard size piece of paper I am printing on. What am I doing wrong here??? This is very confusing.

I'm using OS X 10.7.3. I'm in System Preferences > Print & Scan. I click the + to add my Canon MX870, which is connected to my wireless network. I select it under "Nearby Printers". It says:Â
"Software for this printer is available from Apple. Would you like to download and install it?"Â
I click "Download and Install". When the progress bar reaches the end, it says:Â
"The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software."Â
So. I download the latest driver from Canon (version 10.51.2.0) and install it. I go back to add the printer, and I get the same message.Â
I then download the latest printer software from Apple (version 2.8, which includes MX870 series drivers version 10.51.2.0) and install them. I go back to add the printer, and I get the same message.Â
So. Instead of selecting it under "Nearby Printers", I choose "Add other printer or scanner", which brings up the "Add Printer" dialog box. My printer shows up as a "Bonjour Multifunction". I select it and "Print Using" defaults to "MX870 series". It says "The selected printer software is available from Apple. Click Add to download it and add this printer."Â
So. I click "Add". It goes through the motions again, eventually bringing me back to this:Â
"The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software."Â
All of the Bonjour settings are ON in the printer settings.Â
Using the Canon utilities still brings me to the "Add Printer" dialog box. How can I add this printer??

We have a Canon MF4380dn (similar to MF4370dn) and we cannot print to it from a MacBook Pro that is running Lion 10.7.3 We have tried connecting via USB and via network and have installed the latest UFR II 2.30 driver from Canon. We have completely removed the drivers and re-added them with no success. It can see the printer when it is connected either via USB or via network and it adds the software correctly. However, whenever we try to print a test page it seems to send it to the printer and then it immediately disappears and no page prints

I have a Macbook Air running Lion. I have been struggling to set up a network printer that has worked for years on Windows and Linux clients (I think it worked with Snow Leopard as well). The set up is a Silex print server C-6200U+ v 2.3.1 with a Canon ip4300 connected to it's USB port. The driver is version 10.51.2.0 and CUPS is version1.5.1. All the latest revs. Currently other clients on the network print using LPR to queue 'lp' on a TCP/IP port. In Windows 7 this is all configurable though the gui with a mouse so I'm not doing anything clever. I have tried a number of iterations of set up on the Mac using CUPS Admin interface and also the System Preferences route. The closest to success has been to set it up as LPD protocol on a fixed ip address with queue 'lp', from this configuration I can successfully print a test page from CUPS or 'Print and Scan'. However when it comes to a 'real' print job from Preview or Word or Adobe, nothing much happens. The print queue says it is 'copying the Print Data' or similar but it just hangs indefinitely.Â

I've always had problems using my Canon MP560 with my MBP (13" early 2011).Â
The main problem I am currently having is that when I send multiple jobs to the printer, it enters pause mode between each job; I have to go into the printer queue and click Resume to print the next job.Â
I've removed and readded the printer countless times over the last six months and I worry that if I have to do the same again I'll just be confronted with yet another problem...Â
