I had a Dell 1100 laser printer working on my iMac (G4 ball type) using a GIMP printer. I had to reset the queue and lost the driver. I can't remember which GIMP driver I used. Also, although I have loaded the latest GIMP s/w, I can't seem to get to them in Tiger 10.4.6.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI just finished up a fresh install of Windows 7 and downloaded and installed the NVidia driver from their site directly since the one in the Boot Camp files is pretty old and technically the Vista driver anyway.
But I still need the Brightness, Sound, etc key functionality. Is there a way to selectively install Boot Camp drivers? That's the only one I need. The wireless, chipset, video and everything else works just fine (and in some cases better) than the ones included in Apple's setup.
I'm trying to get my Dell 3000cn printer to work with Mac OS 10.3.9. I cannot get the printer to work with the generic PCL 6 driver.
I'm an IMac newbie, so please excuse me if this is "old" information. However, I've done a lot of searching and can't find a "simple" solution. Maybe there isn't one. Again, please excuse me if this is dumb...Just got a new 27" IMac. I have a Dell AIO 966. I know now there is no OEM driver. But, I thought there was a Lexmark driver model (that might show up in the OX 10 install process I could substitute, or a Generic driver. So far, no luck. And frankly, some of the things I am reading when I search are either old, old posts or too complex for me.
Is the simple answer, "get a new printer?" Or, is there a usable driver loaded into OS X? Is there a thread or post that I am missing?

I'd like to know how I can install the driver for this printer--I've tried everything for the software downloads, but no luck --isn't there some hardware or software?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhile working in Windows XP on my iMac, I believe I inadvertently removed the driver for the built in audio device - the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. And so now I have no sound on my computer. I have tried reinstalling the driver, but at the end of the installation process it says that the device cannot start. My system automatically detects the device as new hardware when I restart the computer but even though I have removed and and tried to reinstall the the driver several times, I cannot get it to work.
When I go through the device troubleshooter, it tells me to detach the problem device and reattach it. However, the audio device is built into my mac, so that is not an option.
When trying to install x64 Boot Camp drivers on my UMB, I get an error saying that my system is not supported. There is a way to force/trick the boot camp installer into installing the drivers anyway.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a G5 Tower with 10.3 on it right now. I have 10.5.8 and I put in the DVD DL to install. But the primary disk drive on this computer doesn't read dual layer. So we got a dual layer driver to connect through usb. But the problem is that after we click install and it reboots it goes to the default driver... which doesn't work. So I was wondering if it was possible to change the default driver?? Or how can I get this to work?

I have an iso file of Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit) that I want to install on my Mac with VMware Fusion. I went through the steps and when I clicked install, it starts then this message pops up: "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now." I can click "Browse," "OK," or "Cancel".

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
I get this error during the Windows 7 setup, right after I begin the installation (occurs in the middle of "step 1" of the two steps that Windows organizes the installation into)
Does anybody have a solution for this? I'm putting in the most recent Windows 7 release onto my mac, have a partition, etc. etc.....nothing seems to be working. Just seeing if anybody has a fix. Tomorrow (I've been trying to do this for a week and am going absolutely nuts) I'm going to but the Windows 7 iso onto my USB and see if that works grumble grumble
I have the edu version of Windows 7 64 bit home. I'm using Fusion 3 and am trying to install Windows 7 as a new machine. I'm running from the ISO Win 7 file that I dl'd from here, which is 5.43 gb in size.
When I start the new machine process, it begins the installation but then hangs with the following error message: A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step.
I get a -5000 access denied error every time I try to install Canoscan driver software. I tried repairing permissions, rebooted etc. It still happens. I cannot scan.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a new monitor to go with my MBP, and I'm stuck trying to choose between the ones listed above.
The 2407WFP is a couple of years old now I guess, but it's the rev A04 version, which supposedly fixed the (few) problems with what was otherwise meant to be a great screen. It's an sPVA screen.
I've heard good reviews of the G2410, with its LED backlighting. It's still a TN panel and I hear so much bad stuff about them.
The 2209WA is an eIPS panel which I like the sound of, but it's smaller and lower resolution.
The F2380 is a cPVA panel, the image quality looks better but I've heard bad things about blacks on this panel.
While trying to fix my disabled USB ports on my MBP, (Installing some sort of USB driver that wasn't made for my specific OS, which is 10.7.4, which came from the apple website.) I rebooted my computer and I notice that once the loggin screen shows up the cursor won't budge. Then I try hitting Enter on my mac and the arrow keys a little. Nothing. Then I try using every key on the keyboard. Absolutely nothing. Tried resetting the PRAM, SMC, AND tried using Safe Boot. Nothing. At this point I wanted to smash my computer or smash something technology related. The only thing that works on my computer now is the little slim of hope that I call Windows 7 which I am posting this from.Is there ANYTHING I can do to enable my Trackpad and Keyboard again?

I have put the wrong driver on my IMac running OSX 10.7.3 and need to go to an older driver. I've tried to find out where the drivers are but no sucess. There is a driver for XBox 360 game controllers that I loaded and it appears in System Preferences but controller hardware is not recognized by the driver even though the System profiler see's the XBox 360 controller listed under USB devices. I'm trying to remove the current driver and load an older driver which some people say works. I can't find any system file with the name XBox 360 in it on my computer but when I try to install an older version of the driver it doesn't allow me because it says I have a newer version on my drive. So in general, how do you remove non functioning drivers?

Latest HP printer updates list the HP P2055dn printer as being supported. When I go to install the driver, I get a message stating "The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software". On Apple's support page clearly states that this printer's drivers are included in the Apple Software update; [url]
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the office where I work with my Mac there's a Canon copier/scanner model iR2318. Months ago I downloaded and installed the Lion compatible drivers required that worked fine. Yesterday (with no reason, no changes, nothing at all: just working) the printer started to refuse to print as it asked for a different paper format: A4 or Letter. Despite many attempts to specifically send print jobs in A4, which is the paper format loaded in the tray, the printer continued to refuse all prints.Today I ended up removing the printer from the list, as it became unnecessary, and I also liked to uninstall the printer driver as well, since Canon released a newer version.Currently, when trying to reinstall the printer, 2 drivers are displayed: UK and US. This lets me assume that those 2 drivers are still installed in my system: I wanted to remove both of them and start from scratch by reinstall the driver and he printer as the system was new. How can I remove the driver, so that Lion won't recognize it and that I could make a clean install of the previous working printer?

Just out of the blue, I can't print using my epson 600, a multi use printer that I have set up on my network.
The strange thing is my scaning driver is there and working, but my wireless printer is not there. I can see my Epson Printer, but its not the wireless driver, its the older driver for using the cable.
