Mar 29, 2012I friend wanted me to update his company's website which runs on a MS Exchange Server/Sharepoint set up. He zipped all the html, jpeg, and assorted text files and attached that zip file to an email. When I received it on my Mac it had been converted to a ".dat" file. He tells me that this is the result of sending a zipped file over the MS Exchange Server mail system to a Mac. (Whatever happened to cross-platform?)
Is there a Mac utility I can use to convert this dat file back to a zip file that I then can open on my Mac?

Apr 11, 2012I have recently upgraded my computer from a G4 iMac running Panther to an Intel 21" screen model which runs Lion 10.7.3. I found that neither the Set Up Assistant or Migration Assistant worked as far as transferring the contents of the old system and therefore transferred it manually.
Included in the contents transferred were a number of Appleworks spreadsheets which worked in conjunction with a series of Applescripts to produce various types of textile patterns, and another series which analysed stock exchange prices. I have found that basicly none of these work and wonder if there are any programs or compilers which could be used to convert them. I have bought iWorks and both Numbers and Pages do not produce satisfactory results which is somewhat disappointing. The thought of having to learn a new Applescript volcabulary and then rewrite the Scripts is somewhat daunting hence my enquiry.

Jan 7, 2009Somebody bought me a Macbook Air for the holidays, the SSD 128GB version, I use it mainly for Itunes and to convert video using handbrake, it seems sluggish compared to an Imac, I am curious I saw the new Macbooks the 2.0 version, do you think I will have better results using handbrake on the Macbook Aluminum 2.0 to convert video than with the Macbook Air, I really don't want to go for the 2.4 Macbook unless its really going to make that much of a difference.
