I want to update my panther 10.3.9 to the latest machine. I believe that the new macs dont have appleworks on them. I have a large document in apple works and want to add to it. I dont want to lose it. I am not very computer savvy and I hope the people who sell me my new mac can transfer most of my stuff to the new computer otherwise I will lose photos etc.

I'm suddenly getting a ghosting effect on my Macbook's screen and text in documents and windows is sometimes barely readable. Strangely the machine starts up with a perfect image for a short time, then changes, so I suspect software rather than hardware. I've tried playing with settings in system preferences as well as repairing permissions. Should I perhaps try a PMU reset?

I have lots of documents maade over the years with AW 5 and AW 6. I would like now to upgrade to Lion but I understand that AW 5 documents can no longer be opened with Pages under Lion. Is there a script to automatically locate and convert all AW 5 and AW 6 on my HD to Pages and leave the converted doc in the same location as the original ?

Is there a way to increase the size of the displayed mail, as you are creating it? I have mine set to 12 point text, but it is still difficult to read. The e-mail when received is fine, it's the creating that's "tiny"?

I have several mac pro's, 17 inch, late 2011, both have hdd installed in optical bay, one is running Mavericks another - ML 10.8.5Â
I wanted to swap those hdd's between 2 mac's. When I put a hard drive formatted in Mavericks into Mountain Lion it does not read the disk, says: the disk is not readable...
it's recognized by the system, it's inside Disk Utility... but you cannot mount it, until re-formatted. Although it's recognized fine if you connect it via USB, full access, no issues...
The problem is only when you connecting the disk via Optical Bay SATA adapter (the adapter is absolutely OK as it can see other drives formatted in Lion's, also I have several of them, all of the show the same results)Â
I had to re-format one disk in ML disk utility to resolve the issue, now it can be writable on Lion via optical bay adapter. But I have another disk of Mavericks which I can't reformat... to many valuable information on itÂ
the question: how can I make a disk formatted in Mavericks readable in Lion w/o reformatting (using optical bay adapter)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI friend wanted me to update his company's website which runs on a MS Exchange Server/Sharepoint set up. He zipped all the html, jpeg, and assorted text files and attached that zip file to an email. When I received it on my Mac it had been converted to a ".dat" file. He tells me that this is the result of sending a zipped file over the MS Exchange Server mail system to a Mac. (Whatever happened to cross-platform?)Â
Is there a Mac utility I can use to convert this dat file back to a zip file that I then can open on my Mac?

I have a 2007 MacBook, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS 10.4.11 (which I got free of charge from a friend who didn't like dealing with the "unrecognized" battery).
I would like to know how to unghost the Spell Checker "learn" button, if that is possible. There does not appear to be an option in the preferences.
I have Appleworks 6 loaded, but it isn't working anymore. It used to work fine. I have the hard drive partitioned and in OS 9.2.2 it works fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe had our iMac professionally upgraded to Leopard os 10.5.4. Now our appleworks 6 does not work. These people said appleworks 6 is no longer supported and I must have a damaged file (I think they did it on the upgrade) and to reinstall with disc. Our iMac came ready to use and I do not have any discs so I can reinstall it. I tried searching for it on the internet but could not find anything but updates.

I have AppleWorks on my Mac, and my new line of work (transcription) requires me to receive and send documents in MS Word format; can i just use the 'save as' function to convert the AW doc into a MS Word doc, or are there problems when doing so--such as the text not translating correctly, etc? Wondering if i'll need to buy MS Word for Mac, or if the "Save As" function is enough.
