OS X Mountain Lion :: How To Convert A String Like12:34 To Applescript Timestamp
Jun 3, 2014
How would I convert a string like 12:34 to an Applescript timestamp? I'd like to be able to add/subtract minutes to/from such items; i.e., to be able to use 12:34 + 6 minutes, for example.
Info:
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), iMac 24" 2.8 ghz 4 GB RAM
Few days, I was trying to import OLM files in a Mac mail format, but and I was not able to access OLM data from Apple Mail with efficiency!. how I can import my Olm files in a Mac mail format easily.
My wife has lots of documents in old pages format in many folders. I would like to come up with a script of some sort to batch open and close them using pages 09. The script i have in automator says the script is fine when ran but has no output.on open theFiles tell application "Pages".
I'm trying to get more specific information about a selection of files - in particular, the seconds (and even milliseconds if possible) relating to the time-stamp for each. I've tried changing the international system prefs to full format but this seems not to have had any impact on finder or get info.
I just noticed that in iMessage, delivery and read receipt times are displayed in 12 hour am/pm clock, even though I have setup the system to use a 24 hour clock. I cannot find a setting in iMessage application to change to 24 hour clock. Have I glossed over a setting or is it not possible to use a 24 hour clock in iMessage?

I've been trying several different methods to download a file through Applescript. I've looked at different sites/discussions and I've tried to use curl, wget, and some other ways, however I still can't get it to download the file. It'll either just not download, or no URL specified. [code]
I made the code below to use together with another 2 codes. One that mounts a samba share and another that runs rsync with specific parameters. The script below runs after rsync complete its task.
The 3 codes me to test my HTML/CSS/PHP/Javascript code changes. This code works but I have to repeat it to each browser/app I want and a 10 lines script becomes 40 lines (Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari). Is there a more elegant way to do that? I've tried to use an array/list but didn't work.
if application "Safari" is running then tell application "Safari" activate end tell tell application "System Events" tell process "Safari" keystroke "r" using {command down} end tell end tellend if
I installed a droploet into Finder, now I can't get rid of it. Scoured the internet and no one says how to remove them, only add them. What's the method for getting rid of them?
I'm using a PC with Windows XP. I'm a private developer. I've written a project in Java and wish to deploy it to other people using email. I've written an Install program (the Main-Class) and successfully packed this in a jar file with the project class files and some data files all as described in the deployment trail in the Java Tutorials. A recipient with a Mac with OS X downloads the jar file and runs it to install the project class files and some data files. The install program then writes an Applescript file (Vocab.scpt shown below) on the Desktop to make starting my downloaded program easier but it doesn't seem to work and I think it may be because the script file is not "executable". Could this be the case? If so, how could I change my install program to make the script file executable or alternatively use some other system to start the downloaded program?
Vocab.scpt:-
# Script to start: Vocab Version: 1.0.0
do shell script "cd /Applications/Vocab; Java Vocab"
Unfortunately I don't have a Mac to experiment with this problem and although I have spent some days on and off trying to find an answer in the mass of information available on Apple's website I can only find small clues here and there to answer my problem (which I would have thought was quite a common one). In Windows a batch file (eg. Vocab.bat) is automatically executable.
I have a large dataset in Excel that I have to do a multiple find/replace in (changing USPS state abbreviations to their full names). In searching the Microsoft boards--I was directed to use Applescript, and even the documented help with Excel was recommeding this. Unfortunately, there wasn't much help potinting me in the specific direction I needed.
What's the deal with that? How can I fix it? I already tried reinstalling Safari, so obviously that didn't work, unless I didn't do it right. Any ideas?
I'm looking for an application with the ability to search matching strings (as designated as anything between a set "prefix" and "suffix") and display them (or what would even be BETTER is if it could write them to a text file).
I've looked into text wrangler and it doesn't fit my needs because it can only do it on a file-by-file basis: I am looking for an app that you can point it to a directory and it does this process for all text files in this directory.
Additionally, if it could do two strings as a time (and group them according to the text file, so I could differentiate), that would be even better.
Does anyone know of an app that can do this? If not, is it possible this process be coded (javascript, php, etc)?
So I downloaded the wrong Airplane Mode program for my operating system and I now have AppleScript Error message. It will not allow me to quit the program. Also, once that happens how do I remove the program from the computer?
I’ve found this script that copies the names of multiple selected files in the Finder to clipboard: try set theNames to {} tell application "Finder" repeat with i in (get selection) set end of theNames to name of i end repeat end tell set {TID, text item delimiters} to {text item delimiters, return} set the clipboard to theNames as text set text item delimiters to TIDend try I need to prepend to each result a string like [URL] where “folder” is the parent folder relative to the files.
A while back I switched a external drive from being plugged directly into the USB port of my mac to being plugged into the USB port of a Time Capsule, now accessed via wireless network. When the disk was plugged directly to computer Spotlight would find files with the search string contained within the body of the document. Now it doesn't do this (it will only find file names). Is this standard behavior of disks connected to a Time Capsule or am I missing something?
This has been happening for awhile now. No doubt due to some upgrade. When I search for a string I'll get the list of google hits. And the search string will still be right in the window where I typed it. But sometimes after going to a link, I'll come back to this page and the page will be the same, but the search string is from a previous search. This is an inconvenience as I frequently go back to edit the search. I can't seem to reproduce it at the moment.
I downloaded the newest version of itunes 11.4 on 9/10/14.
The update has slowed down the itunes program so that I constantly get the spinning wheel when I move around the program to various podcasts and music selections. Several times the program has crashed.
I went into Utilities and opened the console and it says numerous times
" iTunes[680]: Failed to create replacement string"
also:
9/10/14 10:09:49.195 PM iTunes[438]: BUG in libdispatch client: kevent[EVFILT_WRITE] delete: "No such file or directory" - 0x2 9/10/14 10:19:25.830 PM iTunes[680]: ApplePushService: APSConnection being used without a delegate queue
I already tried redownloading iTunes and reinstalling it.
After the disaster getting Quicken for Mac 2007 (or earlier) to sort-of work on Lion, has anyone checked if the Lion Compatible Quicken for Mac works on the new Mountain Lion operating system? Even though this isn't an Apple problem, I know I'm not the only person who would love to update to a new Mac; however, they all come with Mountain Lion, and many of us are terrified of losing financial data if there's another
just recieved my refurbished macbook air (2011) 2 weeks ago.Does it qualify for free upgrade to mountain lion ? The website only talked about "qualifying new mac system set..."
I am wanting to download the new software for my iMac when it comes out in the summer but I do not have the OSX Lion. So do I need to download OSX Lion before downloading Mountain Lion?
Whenever I try to install the latest preview of Mountain Lion, it says"Some features of OS X Mountain Lion are not supported for the disk "R2iMac". The warning directs me here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4649 It seems like it'll let me continue, but once it restarted it eventually said the installation failed. The point is I do have a Recovery HD and I don't know what to do about this. Check out my partitions:And here's the error dialouge: Please advise.
