My company uses Office 365 for hosted Exchange email. We have 1 user who uses Apple Mail on OSX 10.7 to connect to the server in Exchange mode (using EWS). This was working great until a few days ago where he has sporadic connection problems. Reproducable situation below:
1) Select 100 emails in any given folder
2) Drag/drop those emails into another folder to move them there
3) They will start moving but it will fail at somepoint and give the message "Cannot execute move operation".
4) After that message appears it is usually several minutes before he can try again or send any emails.
5) Trying to send an email immediately after the error message results in the "Cannot send message using the server" dialog where you are prompted to select a different server to send the message. Choosing an SMTP server results in the message being sent but sometimes (and only sometimes) the message is resent a couple of hours later through the exchange system.

I just updated my laptop to the 10.7.4 and now every 5 seconds there is this message in Console:
kernel: SMC::smcReadKeyAction ERROR F1Mn kSMCBadArgumentError(0x89) fKeyHashTable=0x0xffffff80119c8000
I also get a bunch of these logged:
kernel: IOSurface: buffer allocation size is zero
kernel: AppleThunderboltNHI::enablePower - turn power on, status = 0x0, result_value = 0x0
I have seen other people reporting this online, but haven't found any here on the board. How can I roll back to 10.7.3?

I am trying to connect from my macbook pro to iMac by using remote management with allow access for All Users but cannot get to connect from MBP to iMac. I can connect without problems from iMac to MBP. The macbook pro just sits trying to connect.
I check the log on the iMac and see the new entry appear during connect attempt of:
3/31/12 7:14:55.979 AM ScreensharingAgent: [CL_INVALID_DEVICE] : OpenCL Error : Failed to create context! Invalid device
Firewall turned off on both machines.I have created a new user on the Macbook to see if that could be the solution but still same occurrence.

In Mac OS 10.6, the Console.app had an option to show the "Console Log" which included what looks like the stdout/stderr message of running applications not explicitly sent to syslog. The option showed up as the second option in the system log queries/database queries list on the Log List.In 10.7, the only option is "All Messages" and there does not appear to be a way to view the "console log" as it was in 10.6. Is there a way to turn this on in 10.7? Does the Mac no longer provide a way to see the stdout/stderr messages for running applications (those run as .app and not from terminal)?see attached screen shots (left is 10.6/right is 10.7) with console messages option missing.

I have a Macbook (10.4). When I try to open a .jar file, I got a message like: can't open. In the Console, the error message is: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file
I googled it and it seem that something is missing from my OS, since the .jar file has been "compiled" with something that I don't have (??). Software update is ok, and on the terminal (don't ask me how I arrived there):
java version "1.5.0_13"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_13-b05-241)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_13-121, mixed mode, sharing)
I am running Mac OS X 10.9.4 and every time I install and open the file from application I get the following error -
I have uninstalled, run Disk Utility, repaired permission, updated Flash and Java.

1. Tried to send a couple of emails via local mail iCloud account. Mail sent sound indicated mail sent, but message not in sent folder. Have since sent test mails to other accounts and they have not arrived.
2. tried to save composed mail as draft, received "Error:The message could not be saved.". Currently using 1,5 gb storage so not an issue.

We have an Exchange 2003 server and use Mac Mail as the imap/smtp email client.
All works fine but Mac Mail does not offer a warning if I try to send an email which exceeds the server sending limit of 10mb. If I use exactly the same email account on the same Mac but in Thunderbird, or MS Entourage I am presented with a warning when it tries to send the email, saying the the mail exceeds the mail limit.
But Mac Mail does not do this. It processes the email (just like the other apps) then it makes the whoosh (mail sending noise) and the email disappears!! its not been placed in the drafts or sent mail and I would have no way to know this mail had not been sent.

I composed an email today and it didn't like the way I configured the addresses. I got an error message saying the message couldn't be sent because of the address format. Now, every time I send an email, no matter to whom, that error pops up. My correctly addressed emails go out just fine. How do I get rid of it? Where do I find the draft to delete it so the program doesn't keep trying to send? (It's not in my draft folder)

Writing your preferences to disk has failed. Your preferences may not have been saved. The permissions on ~/Library/Preferences may be wrong or your disk may be full.
I have read previous discussions on this (2011) and used disk utility to clear permissions, but cannot find any mail.plist in Library
So I picked up a client two months ago with a mac server (10.6.8). It had been sitting there un-used for 9 months.I created the network and configured services and users, in particular VPN. I got it all set up at the beginning of April. Mid-April I tested VPN again just to make sure it was working (it was).Hadn't heard from them until today when they could not log into the CONSOLE. Not the app or whatnot, but the console. It shakes like a wrong password with the administrator user and does nothing with other users.(all UID/PWD were correct)I was not able to VPN either but after a while I was able to once and saw the symptoms myself via VNC.(I lost the VPN session and was no longer able to VPN back in???)
I am able to SSH into the server with a user ID and SU to administrator (not able to ssh as administrator directly???).I checked the update history and it has not had any updates since my work in April, nor is the command line update tool reporting any new updates available. It has been running 10.6.8 since last year (again, just sitting there).I checked the servermgrd is loaded.I read another dissucsion that says the resolution to the problem is upgrade the OS to 10.7.3 or newer? And isn't that a paid upgrade?(seems fishy at best if that is the case).I don't see an OS update when I check system updates.

I'm trying to send a message to an Address Book mailing list in Mail. For some reason, my email account isn't functioning properly (another problem for another day), and Mail reports that the account doesn't recognize any of the addresses on my list. Mail, of course, lists ALL of the addresses, so the error message (and the buttons to deal with it) extend past the bottom of my 1920 x 1200 display. (I found that out by moving the dock somewhere other than the botom of the screen.)Does anyone have any idea what to do? I can't make the screen resolution any finer. I tried quitting Mail; the message pops right back up when I restart. I tried deleting the message from my Outbox, but the displayed message + error doesn't budge.

What happens when the error message in the Mail program is long that you cannot get to the bottom of it? I cannot click it or even access this email from a folder or mailbox to delete it. Am I going to be stuck with it for eternity???

I was using a program which opened my console and then I noticed in my console had messages referring to a couple of programs I removed a long time ago by dragging them to the Trash. It seems to be reporting thousands of messages every minute for one of the programs with the message "User or app not found." recurring.
This must be using resources, is there any way to stop this?

My imac became very slow all of a sudden (stalls when clicking and typing), 2-3 mths after Lion (not sure it's related), mount_hfs and syslogd taking up 80-99% of CPU in Activity Monitor. After digging online, checked my Console and found repeating messages exceeding 20,000+++. But I'm not sure what is being repeated (sample below).I've already turned off Time Machine.I was able to delete the syslogd activity, but still left with 99% mount_hfs, which 'maybe' related to the 20,000+++ repeated messages. Not sure if it's relevant...but I was digging through my asl folder, and it is up to 10g for a single date for some reason![code]

I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud. I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail. The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder. Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:
The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.
There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder. Try as I might, it will not work. I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing. Still does not work.
Just upgraded to iCloud on MacBook. Have lost all my me.com Mail on my Mac but it's in the cloud. Any clues? I want to read Mail on my MacBook using Mail, not iCloud.

I spent quite some time preparing an email.
Then I had to restart Firefox to install an update.
I forgot about the email, probably thinking it would ask me if I wanted it saved.
It's gone.
Is there any way I can recover it?
