I am trying to connect from my macbook pro to iMac by using remote management with allow access for All Users but cannot get to connect from MBP to iMac. I can connect without problems from iMac to MBP. The macbook pro just sits trying to connect.
I check the log on the iMac and see the new entry appear during connect attempt of:

The last couple of days safari has been crashing pretty frequently for me. I've been using chrome no problem, but i do prefer safari, so I just googled it and got pointed to Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.
So I just opened Disk Utility, which I'm fairly sure I've never used before, and it's saying, under my HD "this drive has reported a fatal hardware error to Disk Utility. If the drive has not failed completely, back up as much data as you can and then replace it with a working drive."
It's saying it for both "FUJITSU MHZ2250BH FFS G1 Media" (I'm not even sure what that is) and "Macintosh HD".
There's nothing wrong with my computer? I've googled around and apparently this means my machines about to die?
In Mac OS 10.6, the Console.app had an option to show the "Console Log" which included what looks like the stdout/stderr message of running applications not explicitly sent to syslog. The option showed up as the second option in the system log queries/database queries list on the Log List.In 10.7, the only option is "All Messages" and there does not appear to be a way to view the "console log" as it was in 10.6. Is there a way to turn this on in 10.7? Does the Mac no longer provide a way to see the stdout/stderr messages for running applications (those run as .app and not from terminal)?see attached screen shots (left is 10.6/right is 10.7) with console messages option missing.

I have an Early 13" MacBook Pro It seems that for some reason the Disk Utility is the root cause and I'm guessing that System Information queries Disk Utility for it's information while Finder does its own query. Maybe? At any rate I'd really like to resolve this issue if at all possible.

So I picked up a client two months ago with a mac server (10.6.8). It had been sitting there un-used for 9 months.I created the network and configured services and users, in particular VPN. I got it all set up at the beginning of April. Mid-April I tested VPN again just to make sure it was working (it was).Hadn't heard from them until today when they could not log into the CONSOLE. Not the app or whatnot, but the console.It shakes like a wrong password with the administrator user and does nothing with other users.(all UID/PWD were correct)I was not able to VPN either but after a while I was able to once and saw the symptoms myself via VNC.(I lost the VPN session and was no longer able to VPN back in???)
I am able to SSH into the server with a user ID and SU to administrator (not able to ssh as administrator directly???).I checked the update history and it has not had any updates since my work in April, nor is the command line update tool reporting any new updates available.It has been running 10.6.8 since last year (again, just sitting there).I checked the servermgrd is loaded.I read another dissucsion that says the resolution to the problem is upgrade the OS to 10.7.3 or newer? And isn't that a paid upgrade?(seems fishy at best if that is the case).I don't see an OS update when I check system updates.

I was using a program which opened my console and then I noticed in my console had messages referring to a couple of programs I removed a long time ago by dragging them to the Trash. It seems to be reporting thousands of messages every minute for one of the programs with the message "User or app not found." recurring.
This must be using resources, is there any way to stop this?

My imac became very slow all of a sudden (stalls when clicking and typing), 2-3 mths after Lion (not sure it's related), mount_hfs and syslogd taking up 80-99% of CPU in Activity Monitor.After digging online, checked my Console and found repeating messages exceeding 20,000+++. View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new mid-2010 updated iMac with 2.8GHz Core i5. However, when I looked at the system profiler, it reports CPU speed at 2.66GHz.
At first, I thought I accidentally got the late-2009 version, but other aspects of the system seem to indicate that this is correct Mac.
The box has updated part number, but does list the CPU as 2.66GHz. It has the newer HD 5750 w/1GB RAM, it uses 1333GHz DDR3 memory. So everything seems to point that it's a new iMac, but the CPU is of the wrong version.
My MBP has been reporting issues over the last few days and recommending that I verify the disk. Whenever I do this, it says that it finds errors and I should reboot with comamnd-r pressed and choose disk utility. Which I do. However when I try to verify the disk or repair the disk in this mode, it never finds any issues? Logging back in and running disk utility will again report issues and recommend repairing What should I do?Â

We have a cabled network at home using 10/100MB switches (so it aint a gigabit LAN). The connection doctor comes up and says that I can't host a multiperson video chat, because the connection is too slow and also that I can't share my screen for the same reason. The odd thing is that I can share my screen, but it refuses to allow me to host the multiperson video conference.

I often add very large files to my system before compressing them, sending them to clients, and then deleting them. This process leaves me constantly thinking about how much disk space I have free. Disk Utility, and an Apple approved app called DaisyDisk (space visualization) typically help me accompish this. Sadly, as of this week I seem to have a problem. When I went and looked the other day Disk U was telling me that 250gb of my 320gb drive is in use. This seemed high to me, but to be safe I thought I'd delete some files I didn't need. After deleting a bunch of videos, and a backup of my Main Identity (19gb) from my system, I'd assumed I had freed up about 24gb, but when I went back into Disk U it was still showing the same 250gb in use. Yes I rebooted my system, and made sure the trash was empty.
As I investigated further I did a get info on all 6 folders on the MacHD and they added up to about 170gb. That seemed more realistic, so I did a get info on my MacHD and again it showed the same thing 170 in use and 148.something available. Note: I have no partitions on this drive. But yet, still when I go to Disk U it seemed to be stuck at only 64gb free. Today when I went and looked again I am still seeing the same amount in use and free on the MacHD get info, but on Disk U now I am seeing 108 free and 211 in use. Why the difference? I would think Get Info was pulling from the same place as the mac disk utility.

I can't seem to find out why my Mac is reporting such excessive storage use for "Photos". My iPhoto library says it's only about 1.47GB. Earlier today, I unchecked the option of importing photos from other locations to the iPhoto library, since we have an external hard drive that we use to store photos.Â
Why it's reporting such high usage? In the screenshot is OmniDiskSweeper, which shows sizes of each folder. They definitely aren't adding up to the 92GB that it says is in use, unless all that extra data is coming from some folder I don't have permission to.Â
