View 4 RepliesThe Java JAR file "" could not be launched. Check the Console for possible error messages.I need to open a jar file and this is the error i get.
View 4 RepliesI have a Macbook (10.4). When I try to open a .jar file, I got a message like: can't open. In the Console, the error message is: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file
I googled it and it seem that something is missing from my OS, since the .jar file has been "compiled" with something that I don't have (??). Software update is ok, and on the terminal (don't ask me how I arrived there):
java version "1.5.0_13"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_13-b05-241)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_13-121, mixed mode, sharing)
I was using a program which opened my console and then I noticed in my console had messages referring to a couple of programs I removed a long time ago by dragging them to the Trash. It seems to be reporting thousands of messages every minute for one of the programs with the message "User or app not found." recurring.
This must be using resources, is there any way to stop this?
I just updated my laptop to the 10.7.4 and now every 5 seconds there is this message in Console:
kernel: SMC::smcReadKeyAction ERROR F1Mn kSMCBadArgumentError(0x89) fKeyHashTable=0x0xffffff80119c8000
I also get a bunch of these logged:
kernel: IOSurface: buffer allocation size is zero
kernel: AppleThunderboltNHI::enablePower - turn power on, status = 0x0, result_value = 0x0
I have seen other people reporting this online, but haven't found any here on the board. How can I roll back to 10.7.3?Â

I get community toolbar error messages every time I open Safari. How can I get this to stop?

What do these messages mean and how can I fix them? They don't cause any problems but I'm really OCD about this type of stuff

Don't expect a lot of replies this close to WWDC but hey, I can try
I had to go check the console because a Java app I made wouldn't run, but there I also noted the following messages:
Is any of these things bad, or is there something I can or have to fix?
Also after this there's a LOT of output from VMware, even though the app isn't being launched...
Hope some of you hardcore UNIX guys can help me out
What are they for?

Lately i've been noticing a reoccuring message on my console and was wondering if anyone here would know what it means:
It's been like this for some days and feel a tiny bit paranoid. Any clue?
A few days ago, i noticed a process running in my task manager. Something along the lines of, "Seagate data manager". The reason it was there is because my friend installed some software that would let us use his Seagate hard drive (it would not work on a mac without it). I was annoyed that this process was running on start-up years later when i did not need it any more. I searched though my Mac and found no apparent way to uninstall it, so i decided to find every file that had the word "seagate" and delete it. Probably not my brightest moment, i know, and technically it worked. I dont see the process running any more, but now i am seeing the fruits of my stupidity as i get these 3 messages in console every 10 seconds from what i think is my Mac trying to launch the process, but cant find the files that i deleted. I deleted 2 files. I cant remember exactly what they were called or where they were from. I think one was from "Macintosh HD > Library" and the other was from "Macintosh HD > System". I know that one of the files had the icon that looks like a little white Lego piece (see attachment called "icon"). Â
here is what console says:Â 4/18/12 9:09:01 AMcom.apple.launchd.peruser.501[97](com.seagate.SeagateStorageGauge.plist[794]) posix_spawn("/Library/Application Support/Seagate/Seagate Storage Gauge.app/Contents/MacOS/Seagate Storage Gauge", ...): No such file or directory4/18/12 9:09:01 AMcom.apple.launchd.peruser.501[97](com.seagate.SeagateStorageGauge.plist[794]) Exited with exit code: 14/18/12 9:09:01 AMcom.apple.launchd.peruser.501[97](com.seagate.SeagateStorageGauge.plist) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

there seems to be an issue with my mid-2010 MacBook Pro, running OS X Maverick 10.9.4. When in console, precisely every 5 seconds, this same message pops up:Â
07/09/2014 18:34:00.000 kernel[0]: SMC::smcReadKeyAction ERROR F1Mn kSMCBadArgumentError(0x89) fKeyHashTable=0x0xffffff801febf000Â
I did have a look at Launch Agents and Daemons folders to see if any file name related to that message, but I'm not sure.Â
I've been having some kernal panics over the past month and I opened the console and messages about office 2008 are all over the place:
11/12/09 1:22:32 PM[0x0-0xd00d].com.vmware.fusionDaemon[166]2009-11-12 13:22:32.786 pkgutil[178:60f] PackageKit: *** Missing bundle identifier: /Library/Receipts/Office2008_en_entourage.pkg
theres more that read /Office2008- "languages" missing bunlde...
The weird thing is office 2008 is not even open. I'm connected to a VPN client though and I'm wondering if someone is trying to open files on my computer?
hi,
i've had some problems with my imac (2 years old) that include the fan randomly turning on and causing the computer to shut down. after checking console, i found this message had been repeated many hundreds of time
could someone please explain what it is? the vodafone connect is a now defunct mobile broadband which i used before i got wireless.
About a month back my computer started to take longer to turn off. it was about the time when I did a disk repair. So about a week ago I started to look to seee if there was a reason for it to be taking longer to turn off. When I open the console application, it shows that something that has to do ith google ( think) tries to do something. I'm going to post a picture here. I have search for daemon and google and deleted anything that i found, but it still showed the message so I put eberything back. Like all of the messages in the picture are from the computer just doing nothing, except a few for screen shots. Most of the messges are exatly the same. It is three messages that repeat every like ten seconds. The computer works fine and everything but i just found it wierd today cuz i left it on for 3 hours ad when I came back it was not sleeping and when I checked the console aplication it showed so many messages for every ten seconds and my computer is supposed to go to sleep after 15 minutes. Oh, I have a 2006 Macbook pro that has a Intel core Duo and runs with snow Leopard.

I knew everything was working fine on my Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz i5, 8gb ram, Mac OS X Version 10.7.3. I loaded up my Mac this morning and tried to open Activity Monitor but wont open. When I drag the application to the dock, there is no icon picture for it. I looked on the internet and it told me to load up Console, which I then found done the same thing.
In Utilities I realised the App 'Podcast Capture' was also missing its icon, but since I do not use that, I am not worried. After looking through google again, I ended up using FirstAid and repaired the disk and permissions. That still made no difference. Finally I then decided I could delete the .plist from preferences, to then find neither of the files for Console and Activity Monitor were there? And I had not deleted them.
Once last thing, in Terminal, every time I open it, it comes up with, bash: /usr/libexec/path_helper: Unknown error: -22
Not sure if this relates to it in anyway? The only thing I know that may have effected it was setting up a Minecraft server which I had to use a chmod a+x (file location). Which I thought gave it the commands. Didn't work anyway, but whilst in the middle of doing that I realised all these other issues.

It appears as if my wife's Mac was hacked last weekend. I am not a nubie to computers but am not so familiar with security fr a Mac. I am trying to see if the Whole Foods website is the cause of this hack. Below explains what happened. On Sat 7/17/10, at about 11:30am we began getting telephone calls that my wife's TWO separate email accounts (one Yahoo and one Hotmail) had sent out an email that we had made a "surprise" visit to London and had been attacked and robbed etc and the email asked for money. A second email was sent a half an hour later asking for money to be wired to a Western Union reference number. Upon checking my wife's Yahoo account from a different computer than my wife's Macbook, I found the account password had been changed. After notifying Yhaoo that her account had been compromised, I learned that her Hotmail account had also been sending emails as well. The passwords are different for each of the accounts. Rebooting the machine after finding out of these emails took an unusually long time. Clearly something was amiss. As we later found out, the Yahoo account, my wife's primary account, had been setup to forward all her mail to forward.forward@hotmail.com the "bad guy's" drop account to collect her email. Her Hotmail account had not been setup to do this though. The culprit must have been her Mac Mail program on her Macbook-- only this has the capability to retrieve both accounts. No other computer has this capability. The passwords for both accounts were saved on the Macbook. My wife had no security in place-- admin p'word was blank, no firewall etc. This has been changed. What log file in the Console can I look at to see what went on during the time that I think a compromise took place? I have since loaded IAntivirus (free)on her machine.
How can I ensure that nothing has been loaded onto her machine that will give someone a backdoor into our network or her machine. Could a keystroke logger have been loaded as well, maybe a backdoor port? How can I see what programs have been loaded? My wife uses the latest version of Firefox at all times. The newest version downloaded this week, so she was using the prior, most up to date version at the time I think an attack occurred. Ditto for the OS. I have thought about a localized attack-- one that occurs when someone is within physical proximity of the laptop, but we live in a suburb and she rarely takes the laptop out of the house.
Alright so someone needed the errors for a program, and I noticed there were several other errors for programs that are no longer on my mac. Is there any way to figure out how to make my mac stop looking for these things to rid the errors from Console?

I have a mechanical fault with my combo drive (cdrw/dvd) in my Powerbook 12" 1.5 GHz running Leopard which makes it noisy even when there is no disk in there. Is it possible to disable the device by removing it from the device tree in Open Firmware before OS X boots? It sounds like the drive is checking for a disk. I am sure there is not a disk in there as it still accepts and ejects other disks. If it were to be removed from the device tree would this likely solve the problem, or would the power cable to the drive have to be physically disconnected?
