Entire email folders of mine seem to have lost all the content in them - all that remains is the heading detail on the individual emails.Â
It happens without much consistency -Sometimes I will use the folder, move messages to it and they will be fine, as normal,Then later on I will discover that ALL of the messages in this folder will seemingly have lost their data and gone blank. It makes no difference whether viewing in the mac mail pane or opening the message up directly. It wont happen to all folders or all subfoldersÂ
Is there a safe way of getting the messages back and preventing it happening any more?
I say 'safe' as reading through other similar threads years ago I saw suggestions about rebuilding mail boxes which others then mentioned that it completely wiped their entire mail boxes - the thought of that fills me with fear.Â
Im running an 2.8 Ghz i5 27" Desktop on Yosemite 10.10.1 - but it has been happening since Mountain Lion at least - Ive had this issue a few times but it seemed to be very limited and isolated, but in the last 6 months Ive noticed it happening to entire folders and I cannot let my records just evaporate like this!

I'm running Time Machine, but haven't been able to find the location in my directory, so I don't know where to look for when I go back into my backups.Â
In three and a half years with my Macbook, this is the first time I've lost anything.Â

I am using Mail from my 15", late 2012, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 MBP running Maverick OSX 10.9.5 with 16 GB memory. I have 4 mail accounts with approximately 30 folders. Everything has worked fairly good the past year, with a bump here and there. Suddenly today nearly all mail in these folders has disappeared. There are a few folders that have retained all their mail, however the majority is gone. Is there a remedy or is it gone? Rebuild has done no good.

My home folder is corrupted. I created a new user account and it seems to be fine. I'd like to transfer all my data files to my new account. This is no problem with most applications, but I'm not sure what to do with Apps that save the data themselves.Â

I was installing the latest update to Mail Tags in Mail and it crashed in the process of the update. Now mail won't run - it just hangs. I reinstalled Mail and it's still doing the same thing so it must be the mail data file (right?). Can I rebuild the data file without running mail? What to do?

Just upgraded to iCloud on MacBook. Have lost all my me.com Mail on my Mac but it's in the cloud. Any clues? I want to read Mail on my MacBook using Mail, not iCloud.Â

I'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
For the last week I find that after sending an email with attachments that it remains in my draft box after sending. The mail shows up in the sent box, but it never get's deleted from the draft box until I resend it. This is happening on both my MBP and iMac. Both machines connect to iCloud for mail.

I spent quite some time preparing an email.
Then I had to restart Firefox to install an update.
I forgot about the email, probably thinking it would ask me if I wanted it saved.
It's gone.
Is there any way I can recover it?
1. Tried to send a couple of emails via local mail iCloud account. Mail sent sound indicated mail sent, but message not in sent folder. Have since sent test mails to other accounts and they have not arrived.
2. tried to save composed mail as draft, received "Error:The message could not be saved.". Currently using 1,5 gb storage so not an issue.

I was just looking at my emails in the mail app. One second all of my folders were there. The next second the ones I had made and sorted emails into were gone. I have very important emails in these which I really need to recover. I have a Time Capsule and Time Machine that backs up automatically but I have gone back a couple of backups and cannot find the missing folders.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRelatively new to Mac. In Mac Mail, I accidentally dragged some of the default mailboxes (Drafts) out of the Mailboxes Pane on the left up to the top bar and they disappeared without so much as a warning message to let me know! I can't seem to find a way to get them back or the mail that was in them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFolders I created in mail just went south on me. That is I finally got the ability to get all mail again but seem to have lost the folders I created. I had stored some messages in them too. It just makes one curious as to where they went, Anyone know anything about this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing Mail 2.1.3 I accidentally clicked Rebuild, and lost all 2008 messages from my Inbox (2007 and 2006 ones are there, and new ones come in OK). Sent box was not affected.
The messages seem to be in Users: Library: Mail and inbox.mbox . It was suggested I reinstall Mail, but I don't know how (I don't seem to have an original disc and it doesn't seem to be part of Office 2004).
Mail has been working well for a year on a mac air. mail had been running on my computer yesterday and, I assume it crashed, because when i got home and opened the computer mail was no longer open. and when I opened it it started running me through setup as if i had never used the program.there was no way to open mail without going through the setup -- that seems to be a problem to me right there.I kept canceling the setup but then it wouldn't launch mail. so finally i went through setup and resetup one of my email accounts. the name of the inbox is slightly different althought , as it turned out, the name of the outbox is identical.
the program recognized that there was already any outbox with this name but instead of linking with that in some way it instead named the new outbox "delivered" that's cool to avoid a conflict but there doesn't appear to be any way to tell the program just to reconnect with the previous boxes. I can import them but then then they come in an import folder. I'd like to get all my mail for a certain account into the same folder, not have what is essentially an archive folder for each account and an active one.
how to reconnect to these old mailboxes as active accounts, or how when importing to merge the appropriate mailbox with the appropriate account.or to restore mailbox settings/preferences or users or whatever was lost. I do have a backup that includes my library files to sugarsync if there is some kind of restore I could try.

I upgraded my iMac to Lion recently. Currently running OSX 10.7.3.
I suddenly am unable to have my .Mac email delivered to the Mail application on my iMac, yet my .Mac emails are delivered to my iPhone without any issues and I can also access them via logging-in to my iCloud account using an internet browser. My Mail account pane is as follows. Note that the Incoming Mail server is dimmed-out and I am unable to enter any text into it.
