OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail Error Extends Past Bottom Of Screen

Jul 4, 2012

I'm trying to send a message to an Address Book mailing list in Mail. For some reason, my email account isn't functioning properly (another problem for another day), and Mail reports that the account doesn't recognize any of the addresses on my list. Mail, of course, lists ALL of the addresses, so the error message (and the buttons to deal with it) extend past the bottom of my 1920 x 1200 display. (I found that out by moving the dock somewhere other than the botom of the screen.)Does anyone have any idea what to do? I can't make the screen resolution any finer. I tried quitting Mail; the message pops right back up when I restart. I tried deleting the message from my Outbox, but the displayed message + error doesn't budge.

Mac Mini :: Monitor Is Blurry, The Dock Extends Beyond The Bottom Of The Screen?

Apr 27, 2010

I have a VGA HP monitor that runs at a native resolution of 1680x1050 at 60Hz. I plugged the Mini in, some weird resolution came up. 1680x1050 didn't show up in "Displays". I downloaded SwitchResX, and set it to 1680x1050 at 60Hz.The resolution is now set, but the monitor is very blurry, and the dock extends beyond the bottom of the screen.I really want to get this working. I'm not quite sure how SwitchResX works so could anybody give me a hand?

Upgraded to Office 2011 from 2008, when I open existing spreadsheet on MacBook the bottom of the page extends below the dock so I cannot access resize corner. I can maximize to get access to resize but am looking for fix so that when a sheet is opened the page does not fall below dock. Even happens on new default spreadsheet.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: It Won't Get Past Grey Screen

May 25, 2012

My Macbook Pro (2008) was upgraded to Lion 10.7.2  before I bought it used.  It's always been slow and after a little while it won't boot up properly, it only gets as far as the apple logo with the spinning wheel underneath. I've have used Recovery HD and Disk Utility to repair/verify the hard drive and after the repair it still won't boot up past the apple logo. I downloaded OSX Lion 10.7.4  (client combo) update onto an external drive but I can't install the update when using Recovery HD.  I've tried mounting the existing hard drive onto an external drive, but I get an error mesage immediately.

There are only a few folders I need to take from the existing hard drive in the Macbook Pro.  What can I do to either access my hard drive or get it to boot up properly?  I have a retail copy of a Snow Leopard DVD that I can use.  I believe I might have saved Lion onto a DVD a while ago, but Apple seems to insist we intall by downloading the latest Lion?  Basically I need to access the hard drive without erasing the data

OS X V10.7 Lion :: MacBook Suddenly Won't Progress Past Gray Screen

Apr 28, 2012

My macbook suddenly won't progress past the grey screen and the spinning gear. I have tried the procedures listed in one of the support documents, although I note they don't include OSX10.7 which I am running. I got to the part where it says try your system disk, problem is, I purchased through App store. I'm guessing at this stage I should have created an emergency boot disk.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mac Mail Won't Show Error If Mail Is Too Large

May 10, 2012

We have an Exchange 2003 server and use Mac Mail as the imap/smtp email client.

All works fine but Mac Mail does not offer a warning if I try to send an email which exceeds the server sending limit of 10mb. If I use exactly the same email account on the same Mac but in Thunderbird, or MS Entourage I am presented with a warning when it tries to send the email, saying the the mail exceeds the mail limit.

But Mac Mail does not do this. It processes the email (just like the other apps) then it makes the whoosh (mail sending noise) and the email disappears!! its not been placed in the drafts or sent mail and I would have no way to know this mail had not been sent.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Get Rid Of A Mail Error Message?

Mar 29, 2012

I composed an email today and it didn't like the way I configured the addresses.  I got an error message saying the message couldn't be sent because of the address format.  Now, every time I send an email, no matter to whom, that error pops up.  My correctly addressed emails go out just fine.  How do I get rid of it? Where do I find the draft to delete it so the program doesn't keep trying to send? (It's not in my draft folder)

PowerPC :: EMac Screen Developing Green Tint In The Bottom Right Corner Of Its Screen?

Oct 6, 2008

Our eMac seems to be developing a green tint in the bottom right hand corner of its screen. I've done some quick searching online and it seems that a few people have suggested a cold boot so it runs the degaussing process on a startup.

I left the eMac off for about an hour, unplugged. It did the degauss once it was plugged back in and "seems" to have removed nearly all of the green tint.

There are a few threads on various forums when I search on Google about this issue but they have no conclusive reasons why this is happening.

Could my eMac be developing a fault at all? I'm not too sure if anything magnetic has been placed on our table near the eMac so this may be the reason.

MacBook Air :: More Light On Left Part Of The Screen Than Bottom Right Of Screen

May 30, 2010

Is it just me or the macbook air has a problem with backlight? it's very very bright compare to my mbp 13.3 but it seems like the left part of the screen receive a lot more light than the bottom right of the screen. I notice that on the mbp pro but its worse on the mba. I have a rev2 1.86 with a 9400. In this review (in spanish) they check the brightness levels on the screen, and there is a difference between center and bottom right corner (340cd/m2 vs 215cd/m2)

Software :: Apple Extends RAW Support To 11 New Digital Cams

Mar 20, 2008

Apple on Thursday released a small software update for users of its photo applications that adds RAW support for nearly a dozen new digital cameras.

The 2.2MB Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.0 extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2 and iPhoto '08 for the following cameras:

Hasselblad CFV-16
Hasselblad H3D-31
Hasselblad H3D-31II
Leaf Aptus 54S
Leaf Aptus 65S
Nikon D60
Olympus E-3
Pentax *ist DL2
Pentax *ist DS2
Pentax K100D Super
Sony DSLR-A200
Sony DSLR-A350

The update also includes a lone security fix that was also included as part of a much larger security update released on Tuesday, which affects DNG image files.

"A stack based buffer overflow exists in the handling of Adobe Digital Negative (DNG) image files. By enticing a user to open a maliciously crafted image file, an attacker may cause an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution," Apple wrote. "This update addresses the issue through improved validation of DNG image files."

The security update is applicable for users of Aperture 2 or iPhoto 7.1.2 with iLife Support 8.2.[ View this article at AppleInsider.com ]

OS X :: IMac Not Getting Past Blue Screen

Jun 19, 2009

I am running OSX 10.5.7. Installed it several weeks ago. This morning, the computer was acting up a bit. For instance, in my wife's account, I couldn't access our shared iTunes library, getting the error saying it was locked. When I rebooted, suddenly I couldn't get into the machine. It just hangs on a blue screen. I've tried booting with the shift key down, and that didn't do anything. I also tried cmd-s, but don't know what to do with that at the prompt, and cmd-v, which works fine, but just dumps me into the blue screen again.

I have a bootable FW drive, and I can boot fine off that, and even see the internal drive. I've opened files on the internal drive -- it all looks intact. But I still can't boot from the internal drive. I've tried Googling for solutions, but if you google "hangs on blue screen" or bsod or whatever around OSX, you get a bunch of hits related to installing 10.5.7, which isn't my issue, and you also get articles from 2006 and 2004, etc. I was hoping it was some sort of permissions thing, but I am not really sure.

OS X :: Can't Get Past Loading Bar In Boot Screen

May 24, 2010

My mac was shutting down and it took sooo long (blue screen with the spinning loader). I never experienced this, cause normally the dock would vanish and my mac would shut down instantly. But this time it kept showing a blue shutdown screen, so I decided (after about 2 minutes) to hold the power button and force a shutdown. The next time I booted the mac it showed me the gray boot screen, with the spinning wheel and a gray loading bar, which I think is indicating a firmware update or something that has to do with my forced shutdown. But the bar gets to about 1/8 and then vanishes. The spinning wheel stays, but nothing else happens. It just hangs and keeps spinning forever.
