OS X V10.7 Lion :: How To Make Pointer Work When Clicking

Feb 15, 2012

I have purchased a new Macbook Pro and am at set up stage yet. I can't go further because the pointer is not working when I am clicking. I can't click on "Start using Mac OS X Lion." I have become so frustrated now! Please let me know if I can fix it or I have to return it to apple centre for fixing.

Software :: On Clicking Icons Get Stuck To Mouse Pointer

Jun 24, 2009

Occasionally if I click an icon (usually on my desktop) it'll just "stick" to my mouse pointer, it'll appear as if I am still clicking and holding the icon, and it drags around. I also can't trash, drop or do anything with it. Other programs on the computer can't be used either because it's still using that icon. I'm forced to use keyboard commands to restart Finder, which works until I click any other icon again.

Mac Pro :: Won't Work / Mouse Pointer Screen Freeze

Jun 14, 2008

I have just installed a new Mac Pro. Everything works except I get occasional mouse pointer freezes. They last for about 1 second each time and seem to occur randomly, on average with 1-2 min intervals.

The only things I have installed on top of OS X so far driver wise is MouseWorks to power my Kensington trackball. I use my older large full-keyed white Pro keyboard and only use the smaller wireless one remotely. I have tried deactivating Bluetooth but the mouse freezes still persist.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Can't Make The Address Book Work Within Mac Mail

Feb 11, 2012

Anyone can help? I bought a Macbook pro last weekend, but when I try to use the mac mail,I cannot find any way to input an email address.

1、update my gmail contacts to the macbook addressbook

2、Synchronize the local addressbook to icloud

3、Open the mac mail, and  then create a new mail

then comes my problem,no matter what I type , the address has never show. As I know , the correct result should be:1、Just need to type a few main words in the "sent to" column ,os will search the local addressbook and show the corresponding address for user to choose.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Black Screen With Pointer On Startup In It?

Mar 8, 2012

I have had to do hard restarts in Lion when it satrts up with a black scren and the mouse pointer and nothing else.  It happened most recently today with a scheduled wake up from being asleep. The other day it restarted with the pointer acting as a painting program and actually colored the path of the cursor until it eventually painted in enough of the login window to enter my password and log in... I have reinstalled the os from the App store and it still acts strange some times...

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Arrow Cursor Pointer Jumps And Teleports Across Screen Every Second

Mar 13, 2012

my iMac has this glitch, the cursor jumps or teleports across screen every second. I move it and then it jumps again, always jumps to the same place, same exact pixel everytime. I try to move the cursor quickly (to open safary or hit stand by) but no matter where the pointer is across the 27" screen, it teleports like a clock.

I changed batteries on the trackpad and magic mouse and it didn't work. I turned mouse off, left trackpad on and it didn't work. I tried using a wired mouse and it didn't work. this is obviously not related to the input device.

I would like to restore the input driver with time-machine but I have no idea where the drivers reside in the machine. I also have no idea how to roll-back or reinstall such drivers on a Mac.

this is not the jittery, erratic, jumpy bug. When this glitch is triggered and I have absolutely no clue how or why, sometimes it starts 1 minute after reboot, sometimes 30 minutes; when it is triggered it starts to teleport every second, the arrow jumps to the same spot. it's unbearable since it renders the machine useless. I have to press the power button to send it to sleep, resume and then the glitch is gone, only to come back 5 or 30 minutes afterwards.

Finally, this thing happened last year in november. I wasn't able to solve it back then so I had to reinstall the whole OS Lion, that meant waiting 6 hours for it to download from the appStore (because Apple doesn't allow me to keep a copy LION on my system). I think that's plain silly since it's obviously a very mundane (but annoying) glitch and there's got to be a workarround that doesn't require system restore.

OS X :: Double Clicking On Windows Dont Work

Sep 17, 2010

Stange one this ( or really obvious and I just can't see the answer ).

I have transfered a CAD program to another computer so I can leave it up and running to do a really long render - several days worth.

So I transfered all relevant files to the new machine ( 17" MBP 2.8 ) - and the programs and files run fine. However the programs control windows were collapsed to a single bar - no problem I thought, I'll just double click them to uncollapse them. But that didn't work, either with the trackpad or the mouse.

I then tried double clicking in windows on other programs, and this didn't work.

So the nub of the problem is that on the new machine the double click feature doesn't work.

How do I turn it on? I've tried looking at System Preferences / Trackpad etc. and can't see the answer.

Front Row :: Make Front Row Work On Lion?

Apple released a firmware update for the 7200rpm drives that shipped with the uMBP. You can get the file from here.I don't know if this will fix only the hd's shipped with the MBP or any 7200rpm drive but its worth a try.PS: Also i ask that anyone who tries this please report back on your results.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Why Clicking Red X Does Not Close Program

Mar 24, 2012

I am a first-time Mac user and have a question about quiting/closing programs.

When you click the red button/X in the upper left corner of a program, is there a setting in Lion to make the program actually close/quit instead of having to go to the menu at the top and click Quit?

This was annoying on a windows mobile phone - it is still annoying on the iMac and I could not find any settings in System Preferences to change how clicking on the red button closes a program.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Right-clicking Sometimes Makes It Click Twice?

Jun 5, 2012

Recently, as in since a week or two ago, when I right-click, about 10% of the time the computer will think that I right-clicked twice and so the context menu disappears when I try to activate it (because if you click when the context menu is already opened, then it will disappear).I imagine that this must be caused by a recent OS X update somehow.

I don't know if this is a problem or not, but recently on my 15" MBP using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3, clicking on a .dmg file automatically opens Disk Utility. Which is weird, since before this situation happens, opening a .dmg file will not automatically open Disk Utility.I have a screen shot below opening the .dmg file for Firefox installer for Mac OS X. Shouldn't it actually be like this when clicking on a .dmg file? Is there a problem with my MBP or my Mac OS X Lion?

OS X :: USB Drive Disconnect - Make It Work Like Windows?

Nov 7, 2009

There is something that has been bothering me something fierce since I made the switch to the Mac.

When I used Windows I could connect and disconnect USB drives whenever I wanted without fear of losing data. The way Windows works, it's designed for this so you don't have to "eject" the disk every time.

OS X however is different. I have a USB hub, which has at any given time at least 4 drives plugged into it. If I want to say, grab my laptop and head out the door, I have to wake it up, eject all the disks/media cards, and then go.

I find this to be extremely annoying, especially when I forget.

Is there a way to make OS X behave like Windows in this regard?

Applications :: How To Make 1Pass Work With Entourage

Dec 1, 2009

(I've contacted them 3 times through their Contact Us form, but never received a response; and no, it didn't end up in my Spam folder either - I checked it regularly) I decided to ask my questions here. How to make 1Pass work with Entourage? When I open the latter it will only prompt me to save the password to Mac OS Keychain, but not 1Password. I tried adding an Email Account in 1Password, but it's kind of confusing - what do I enter under "Port number" - is it Incoming port number in the first "Port number" space, and the Outcoming port number in the second "Port number" space? And what do I select under "Authentication method"?? Why are all the forms listed twice anyway?
