i have a macbook pro 13 inch 5,5. 2010 model about 2 days ago i started noticing some odd behaviour on my mbp trrackpad. the tap works fine but the click doesn't.would also like to state that my laptops battery had a health of over 90% suddenly dropped to 78 and then to 67. charging cycles=280. what can i do to bring it back up. are these two related (trackpad and battery one over the other) is there a fix?

I'm coming from the MS Windows laptop. I noticed that I have to actually press the track pad (I'm not sure if that's what it's called) and simulate clicking. In the MS Windows side, I can lightly tap the track pad area and it would be a click. Is there a setting on the Mac OS X Lion or Macbook Air that would allow me to do this instead of hard pressing the trackpad for a click?

I have a 1 year old MB and I've noticed recently that the button on the touch pad no longer has a physical click to it. It still works but it feels (perhaps) mushy. Could this be the start of a bigger problem?

what do i do?
i cant take it to apple store till wed.. as i have to work on a project
Everytime i hold the mbp up with just one hand, there would be this clicking sound. I think its near the left hand side of the palmrest. is it near the hard drive? is it of any concern? Sorry if this has been asked before but i just got my mac a month ago and am a new Mac user
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis might be a little hard to explain, but will be easier if you have an MBP to do this exercise. My touchpad/trackpad, is fine, except for that when tapped in the lower left quadrant (where you normally click) it makes a click noise (from the pad itself) tapping anywhere else yields no sound. I pushed hard on the pad, and kinda pressured it in every which way, and every time I do, the clicking stops for about a minute or so.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo everytime I try to turn my macbook pro off by clicking the shut down button it does the usual turning all software off and then going to the desktop with the dashbord going away and the little circle coming up but it just stays like that forever until I force it off by pressing down the power button. What should I do? I just got this laptop around 6 months ago
View 12 Replies View Relatedhave a BlackBook... just noticed today that when i touch the track pad in the middle and then lift my fingers off, it makes an annoying click noise. (it almost sound like a bug zapper) This does not happen if i touch the track pad on either side... just in the center...
View 24 Replies View RelatedI may have found a solution for all the people out there who upgraded their hd's to a 7200rpm and have the clicking noise. Apple released a firmware update for the 7200rpm drives that shipped with the uMBP. You can get the file from here.I don't know if this will fix only the hd's shipped with the MBP or any 7200rpm drive but its worth a try.PS: Also i ask that anyone who tries this please report back on your results.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor people to start getting use to not having a button with the track pad and only learn to use multitouch like how it is on iphone?I realize now that i turn on trackpad clicking that i just about NEVER use my think click button. Also the click button is so small i'm thinking they did it on purpose so it'll force us to use multitouch.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe whole typing level surface (track-pad, palmrests, keyboard) are all acting like they're the trackpad button. If I rest my palms on the palmrest, it's registered as a click. If I press the keys any harder than super lightly as I type, it's a click. The issue is much worse when my laptop is on my lap as opposed to a hard flat surface. Sometimes, I seem to lose total control. I'll be using the trackpad to navigate around my monitor, and it will act as though I'm constantly clicking (following links, dragging icons around, etc). It's getting REALLY irritating. I know I'll most likely end up having to make the journey to the Apple Store, but I thought I'd try here first just to see if anyone at least has an idea of what could be causing this.
View 1 Replies View Relatedtitle says it all really. Every time I touch, even lightly the button below the trackpad I get a double click. It's making it impossible to highlight text and windows automatically go into the dock if I try to move them. Is it something serious or could I just try and fix it by dismantling and cleaning it? I'd rather not take it apart, to be honest.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm a long time windows/Ubutnu user who have recently migrated to Mac OS X and running 10.7.4. One thing which I'm unable to get used to is that while the red button closes a window, the program will remain open until you quit the application using the Menu Bar. One option to bypass it is use the key combination ctrl-q but by doing that all the instances of that program opens up the next time I open that application. Is there a way out?

I notice a faint multiple clicking sound coming from the front left corner approximately every four seconds.

The hits just keep on coming with this thing First, it arrived with a massive glob of dust trapped between the backlight and LCD panel (still need to take to Genius Bar), then the PSU buzzing started and now it's making a random clicking/popping sound from the lower left. Its a very quiet sound but its noticeable in a quiet room. It appears to be random, but I can reproduce it by opening iTunes, playing a few seconds of a song, waiting at least 10 seconds in silence, then starting another song. *pop* and the song begins. This happens in QuickTime as well. What is going on here? I'm so exasperated right now, I wish Apple would just replace my troubled machine with a new one.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy niece was poking away at my MacBook and somehow brought up System Preferences by clicking some combination in the bottom left of the keyboard. I think it may of involved the ~ key. Does anyone know what it might be as it would be very useful? Last week she managed to move the dock to the left of the screen instead of the bottom with what looked like a single keystroke. However there may of been some kind of trackpad swipe involved.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince I have done a disk repair (only change I can think of that may have had an impact) my Apple Magic Trackpad now randomly acts as though there is a "left click" being passed through. Sometimes it gets "stuck" in this left click mode. I've tried turning off single tap for left click in System Preferences, but to no avail.

Since a month or 2 my internet, safari & firefox are slow. I tried lots of stuff, dns, had some helpfull youtube turtorial tips, but still I dealing with the same problem. When internet is loading a new, never visited, website or a youtube video it keeps loading until I click the airport button. When I click the airport button the site is loaded straight away and internet is real fast. Thing is, I just keep on clicking.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to close safari using the red dot at the top left hand side of the screen instead of the window closing it opens a new blank safari window. Infact the same happens when I click the amber and green buttons also.
I recently have had to system updates (last night and today). Last night I also had a problem that has fixed itself where pressing the command + Q buttons would not clos safari and the "Quit safari" in in the safari drop down was greyed out. As I say the later isue has fixed itself after I force closed and the updates loaded on. Not sure if the two issues are connected.Â
I'm trying to buy more episodes for a show (Supernatural S9 if it makes any difference) and I try to click the SD button, but it doesn't change anything. I've only bought a few episodes of this show separately instead of a season pass because I've already seen several episodes, therefore I can't download them from cloud. the HD button next to the title and season of the show disappears after clicking the button, but nothing else changes. I tried signing out of my account and trying it on my sister's, and the switch between them worked perfectly fine? could this be an error with my account? I've tried restarting iTunes and my laptop, and nothing is changing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust purchased a Magic Mouse to use with my Macbook Pro. When I left click on a Bookmarked Website in Safari it does not open the website it gives me the option to rename the website. Very frustrating. I have to either click on the screen shot above the bookmarks or I have to right click and choose open.

There seems to be an occasional clicking noise coming from the hard drive on my new alumn macbook . is that normal? anyone experiencing the same? diskutility says nothing is wrong with it and it seems to be functioning fine so far.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI booted up my macbook and am now unable to click on anything. I can move the cursor around fine but cannot select anything. The keyboard works fine as well. I tried plugging in a mouse but it was unable to click on anything either. I've also restarted multiple times but nothing changed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe first problem, which is what I named the thread for, is that for no reason, while sitting on a desk, doing disk intensive work, the drive clicks fairly loudly and seems to spin down, causing delays. Is it a faulty drive, or can this be fixed via software?
The second may be related to the first. When watching somewhat large movie files (>600mb), the video skips for about 30 seconds every 30 minutes. While this may not seem like much, it is incredibly annoying. Is this because of the speed of the drive, or is it faulty? Coming from a 500gb 7200rpm external for my iMac, I never experienced either of these problems, although I suspect the first has something to do with the motion sensor in the MBP.
I have an "old" Macbook 13'' (2007) and i'm experiencing a trackpad problem: my mac behaves as if i was always pushing down the trackpad button. In this way i drag what i don't want to drag, i select what i don't want to select, etc., and it's impossible to use my mac at all.I have had this problem before, but it stopped after a few minutes. Now I'm stuck.I have OS 10.6.8, updated firmwares. I just resetted the pram.I suspect it's an hardware problem.Using a mouse won't help since there is no "Ignoring trackpad when mouse is present" option in my preference pan.for my purpouses deactivating the trackpad and using the mouse would be enough.

If I drop the MBP say a few inches (onto something soft like my lap) whilst its running I can hear a crisp click coming from inside the laptop
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to activate three and four finger clicking for the trackpad? I was trying to tinker with settings on my new 13" MBP and was surprised that there was nothing. I'd love to be able to activate spaces with a trackpad click rather than a keyboard combination or a hot corner.
