Jun 22, 2012So I bought some BOSE Companion 20 speakers and when plugged in to my iMac I get great sound on the intsruments but little or no vocals. When plugged into the iPhone with the same EQ settings I get absolutely no issues and it's a perfect sound all around.

Mac Pro :: Get Sound From Dual Link Dvi Cable?
Feb 19, 2012I just bought a Dual Link DVI to HDMI cable. From what I know I will be able to get sound out of of this set up. However, I cannot fingure out how to get sound via HDMI.
There is no such option when I went to sound preference, unline when I was using a minidisplay port to HDMI adapter where I could hear sound on my HDTV via HDMI.
If I could get sound out of dual link dvi to hdmi cable, what do I need to do in order to get the sound working via HDMI instead of Analog Line Out.
I was frustrated because the minidisplay port/adapter does not work for bootcamp, so I went out and bought dual link dvi to hdmi cable instead. Graphic is as great as HDMI, but I could not figure out how to get the sound via hdmi while using this setup.

PowerPC :: G4 Makes Clanking Sound - Cannot Recognize OS
Dec 23, 2008My computer is an G4, 533mhz, <1gb of ram, 8-9 years old, OS 9 & 10.3.9. Last night I was on youtube watching videos, not uploading, not downloading, or doing anything else on the computer that would cause any strain on it. It froze (mouse and everything) and started making a *clanka-clanka* noise, not from the speakers, from inside the tower. I tried to restart using the little restart button, but it didn't work. I finally held down the power button for a few seconds, turned it off, and went to bed.
The next morning, when the computer was turned on it's screen went to that purplish-blue-gray OS 9 color, with a picture of a yellow folder with the OS 9 smiley face which blinked into a question mark and back. Holding down X failed to boot it into OS X. Holding down alt brought me to the screen where you should select which OS to boot to, but there were no options. Just the arrow to continue, and the refresh button, which didn't do anything. We don't do anything "risky" with the computer (torrents, cracks, warez, etc.).

Dec 22, 2009I am not sure how to describe it properly, but since 10 minutes ago, my trackpad on my 13"mbp has been making a weird clicking sound. Normally, it makes a click which is regular, just like the store units/how it should be, however for the last 10 minutes the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER ONLY makes a weird longer noise which I cannot properly describe. its almost like a rattling noise, or something that sounds like its breaking. had this mbp since july this year, and i do have apple care (got it on student discount price!!
Just wondering if you know what the problem is, Or if it is going to be a problem/if trackpad may be breaking Or if I rang apple/took instore what would they do. Reason why I havent immediately took it in is because if MBP could get new processors soon, I could take it in after refresh in the small chance I get a new computer replacement..........

Feb 2, 2012MBP found 2 of my 3 printers right away. Tried manually configuring the 3rd which is an older HP Laserjet 1320 connected via USB to a D-Link print server. In Win you config using the IP address and port name. Configuration appeared to work but nothing gets sent to printer. If this is an easy fix I would like to go that route but if the print server hardware is too old please suggest good alternative that will work for both Windows and Mac systems as I have both in the house.

I don't really need huge bass to shake up the walls or anything like that, but decent bass to hear lows would be nice. I am only comparing these two right now, but I am open to anything else as well. I don't want to spend more than $100. The Cnet reviewers recommended the M-Audio AV-20 over the Bose.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Unable To Use D-Link 320 Share Center NAS
Apr 1, 2012Has anyone successfully set up a D-Link DNS320 NAS on their network? The DLink manuals provide minimal to nil instruction for Mac setups.I have setup the NAS with 2 3TB WD Caviar Green drives, but everytime I drag files to folders on the NAS, the Finder either asks for a password or tells me outright I don't have permission to read/write files on the NAS. Other times when I try to dismount the NAS, I need to reboot the Finder to release the NAS so it can be unmounted.None of my folder settings (vies, location, view options) stick from one view/setting to the next. I can't see how the drives were formatted (I am assuming Windows-specific formatting, over which there is no control or access to options).
I have set up the read/write access using the DLINK web interface (10.0.1.1) and all appears to be normal until I try to use the NAS.I have tried to fix ACLs and permissions etc with individual folders and with the volumes themselves using Terminal command "sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` " but this hasn't worked.Various other sites have been visited (eg url...) but no help there. The DLINK web pages are near-totally useless. Unless someone else has gotten theirs to work, its going into the bin and I will have wasted $$ in buying the box

1. Start up MacBook Pro

4. Safari tries to open the linked PDF - stops after a few seconds
5. WLAN crashes
6. he has to reboot cable-modem an WLAN-Modem
7. Internet + Mail runs fine after restart
I tried to send him the following link: [URL] He could download this PDF - WLAN was alive I sent him this link: [URL]After clicking this link WLAN crashed. WLAN-Modem is a Netgear Router Cable Modem is UPC MacBook Pro with newest Lion installed - he just bought this machine a week ago. Whe compared all the usual settings, i found no misconfiguration - we reset Safari - but no cure.

May 24, 2012I bought a 2011 mac mini second hand and would like to update product registration and link lion to my apple id - is this possible? When I first switched on the mac mini I was presented with standard setup screen to choose language, then progressed through setup, including entering my apple id. I thought this would have linked my apple id to lion which is pre-installed, but when I signed into mac app store neither lion or iLife suite show up under purchases.My main concern is that I was planning to upgrade hard drive and I won't be able to install lion to it.

Jun 8, 2012I re-installed lion on my new mini to get to Setup Assistant to transfer files from my older iMac. The transfer went well, I think. However, I cannot login. I have tried no password (the way the old iMac was set up). I have tried every password that I can think of including my Apple ID password. I did not set up any password for the new computer, but it did offer a hint for a password that it wiil not accept. How in the world did it come up with a password with out my consent? and how can I access my new computer?
