Hardware :: Focal XS Satellite Veruses Bose Companion 5

I was looking at buying one of these two from the apple store and was wondering what everyone has thought of them.
I do appreciate it when posters also reccommend other speaker brands in the thread, but i would like to warn that I need to purchase from the apple online store as I have a decent sized giftcard, and i sorely want better speakers (currently have bose companion 3s) for my new imac 27inch

I just picked up a pair of the Bose companion 2 and was wondering if you can adjust the base of these speakers? I don't see anything under the Macs Sound options.

I'm looking for desktop speakers like the M-Audio Studiophile AV-20 or the Bose Companion 2. I don't really need huge bass to shake up the walls or anything like that, but decent bass to hear lows would be nice. I am only comparing these two right now, but I am open to anything else as well. I don't want to spend more than $100. The Cnet reviewers recommended the M-Audio AV-20 over the Bose.

So I bought some BOSE Companion 20 speakers and when plugged in to my iMac I get great sound on the intsruments but little or no vocals. When plugged into the iPhone with the same EQ settings I get absolutely no issues and it's a perfect sound all around.
Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I have satellite TV.. Sky. We are upgrading our package and having Multiroom now which means we will have a box downstairs for our regular satellite and box upstairs which will be able to change channels etc.
Now, I plan on buying an iMac for my bedroom. But I have a decision of buying a LCD TV or using the iMac as a TV as well as a computer. Now it would save me money (as I'm definitely getting an iMac) and I would certainly be happy if it was possible to use the iMac as a TV and hook up the satellite to the TV. Is this possible? If so, please could you direct me to anything I would need to do this?
I was looking into Apple TV, but it just seems to be a Wifi gadget that allows me to watch iTunes movies/music etc on a TV. What I want is clearly different.

I'm currently on Satellite broadband (unfortunately no other option where I live) and the latency is, as expected, very high. While downloading files is no problem, loading pages like NZHerald and using Google is awful. Generally it takes forever (slower than dial up) and often Google fails to load.
Can someone suggest some third-party software so that I can make this bearable?
I've heard of using software to somehow optimise broadband so that it requests sites differently.

A friend of mine, who's new to apple computers, is using an old powerbook g4 (15" inch) running OS 10.4.9. Everything was normal (except for the screen which is screwed up in the bottom half. But suddenly now as soon as it boots up, it doesn't show the apple logo, but shows a blue screen with a yellow satellite kinda looking graphic, floating around. I can hold the shift button and boot into safe-mode, but I have no clue of what to do, as I don't know what went wrong.

who knows anything about speakers and speaker companies think M-Audio is a better company or Bose? I'm deciding between the M-Audio Studiopro 3 speakers and the Bose Campanion 2 series. These are the two because I found them in stores and so far like them the best...

New MacBook Air...internal speakers work fine. Have Bose speakers that I just tested on my Dell laptop, so I know they work. When I plug them into the headphone jack I get no sound. Volume is up and mute is not on.

I was searching the forums, especially [URL] and it seems that I can't find the appropriate cables to connect these two devices. The Bose Wave has an AUX port, headphone port, and Boselink port, but besides that, no other ports. What cable specifically would I need to stream my itunes over my Bose? I have an Airport Express that supports itunes streaming, I just don't know how to do it.

10.7.4 frequently freezes with the translucent dialog to power down then power up. This is not isolated to any particular application. Started with the upgrade to 10.7.4. Bluetooth device Bose Wireless Sound-link will not play either but does show connection.
