I try to connect my soundcard motu 896 MK3 to the firewire plug and my computer doesn't recognize it. When i check on the apple menu/about this mac/more info/firewire it says that it can't figure out what hardware is connected. If i plugg another device through the same firewire plugg then it works.

I successfully installed XP via Bootcamp and my XP audio software Sampitude. I did also install the MOTU traveler using newest drivers. However, it does not comply perfectly. I was installed alright, but when using it, it doesn't work properly. MME seems to work, but doesn't. ASIO doesn't work at all.
Basically it crashes the program, but if you just unplug it, everything works fine again, using the internal audio.
I just bought this mac pro and it intermittantly will recognize its bluetooth card. it is really annoying, seeing as i use the bluetooth mouse as well as keyboard. Whenever I restart after about 10 times, I have bluetooth.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed Boot Camp 1.3 so I could run Windows XP on a partition (use it for music); no problem. Set up my Motu Ultralite on the OSX side, no problem.
HOWEVER: The Motu UltraLite doesn't work on the XP partition, at all. It shows up, but no audio can be routed through it. It's a firewire audio card, if you're not familiar with it.
For about a week now every time I try to upload a card in the normal way aperture only sees a small portion of the images. the number varies and I can stop the import and start it over and a different number of images may be selected.
Also, those images selected for import are in a random order on the screen. To make things work I'm uploading the images to a HD then importing them from the HD into aperture in the normal way and everything seems to work fine. Multiple cards used so it's not the card. Even tried a different reader. Using Yosemite and Ap. 3.6

I have a late 2008 12" MacBook with a FireWire 400 slot (only). I am hooking up an 8TB Raid hard drive to it for digitizing, backup and editing on FCP 6 and would like to have a higher speed available than the laptop's FireWire 400 provides. Is there a way to augment/build out the MacBook to utilize either a FireWire 800 slot or an eSATA EC2 card? I don't think this version of the MacBook (MacBook4,1) has a PCI or PCIe card slot. Although I believe it may have a mini-PCIe card somewhere, as the last page of the Users Guide says (under Europe—EU Declaration of Conformity):
"Hereby, Apple Inc. declares that this 802.11a/b/g/n Mini-PCIe card is in compliance with the R&TTE Directive."

I was trying to burn a new cd and before I used the application I had inserted a blank disk which my computer didn't recognize. When I tried the application to burn the burn folder, I got a message to insert a blank disk. I tried using the Disk Utility, but when I try to select the volume Superdrive, the option is dimmed. How do I eject the blank disk from my Superdrive? I tried restarting but that did not eject it.

I am using Apple Remote Desktop to control a Mac OS X Snow Leopard system with a Mac OS X Snow Leopard system. On the computer being controlled, I launch Windows 7 through Parallels Desktop Mac version 6. Once the VM is launched, for some reason it doesn't seem to recognize the keyboard as it will not allow me to Ctrl-Alt-Delete. I can use Ctrl-Alt-Delete through the keyboard menu, but I cannot enter in my Windows password.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter using my MacBook Pro I close the laptop and it goes to sleep. Later when I return to it and open it, sometimes it can't find the network. The computer is able to see that I have an Apple Network available, but it won't connect.Sometimes when I try to connect, it gives me a timeout. How I fix it is to walk over to the router and unplug it and plug it back in. After I get the green light again, I go to the Apple Network and it works.

After several attempts my firewire would not mount on the iMac desktop. After reading the forum, so I reset the PRAM and the SMC.
NOW, after rebooting the iMac after 3 or 5 minutes the external disk connect with a firewire 400 appear on the desktop with a spcial mention from my iMac " Could not repair the external disk !?
Even though the disc is NEW and formated on the same machine two hours early!

I have just purchased a set of logitech x-530 speakers to go with my 2010 MBP. It was a bit of a rushed buy without much research and as such I have realised that the computer doesn't seem to have the appropriate soundcard to produce 5.1 sound (is this correct). View 16 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble seeing an external firewire drive on the desktop.I've tried restarting with it on and then off, and turning it on after the boot is complete.I've reset the PRAM, still without success.The drive has a USB port which I tried, but when I connect via USB it still doesn't show up.If I leave the drive on whille connected via USB the computer does not boot, the screen remains a blank white.Outside of trying another firewire cable, are there any suggestions available that I can try?

I have a firewire 400 camera that i'm using for a project and one firewire 800 slot on my iMac (Late 2009). When I plug the camera in, nothing responds no matter what I do - tried resetting the PRAM and SMC. Compare this to my older iMac (Late 2007) which has both firewire 800 and 400 ports. I plug it in and it pops up using the underlying Quicktime controller api on either the 800 or 400 port no problem. So I figured after trying to install a firewire camera library (libdc1394) which I need for my project which didn't work, that it must be a hardware issue, so I took it to the Apple store. The genius at the store booted the OS (Lion) from a firewire drive via 400 to 800 cable (no external power to the f/w drive was used) and then using the spare 400 slot on the hard drive, he plugged (daisy chaining) in my camera and it loaded! So this suggested 2 things - my OS is corrupt or my card can't read straight from my device but why a hard drive in between would change this is beyond me. I came home and installed OS X on to an external USB hard drive and loaded up from it - so this is a fresh version of Lion, there should be no software issues. Plug the camera in to the I/O board of the iMac but load the OS from the external USB hard drive - nothing happens, the profiler doesn't detect anything at all. On a side note, I installed XP and Ubuntu Linux and they also can't detect it, which further suggests its the device or I/O board when interfacing directly with this camera. I've tried providing the devices with external power, daisy chaining 2 cameras, using a usb hub....nothing works. Just for good measure, I tried to boot Lion off the external USB on my older iMac and again, it worked no problem, which to me really narrows it down to the hardware.
I feel like perhaps the port is a bit dodgy and when the genius daisy chained it, it worked better, but no idea why. Someone said I should get a firewire 400 to usb adaptor
I tried to burn a photo cd with the burn folder, but the blank media disc does not mount on the desktop after I insert the blank cd. The computer doesn't know there is a blank media disc in the drive and won't even eject it. I have to reboot the computer for the Imac to spit it out.

My shiny new Macbook Pro has already had a logicboard (Mac-ish for motherboard) replaced due to this. Games (tested Battlefield Bad Company 2 and GTA IV) crash within a few minutes with the screen freezing and showing random colors as the sound starts stuttering and the only solution is to do a hard restart - see image below. GTA IV tells me that it only recognizes 60 MB VRAM so I guess that the problem is with the graphic card not being able to use the computers onbard RAM (8 GB Corsair Vengeance). The RAM doesn't fail any tests and the computer works like a charm in OSX for days on end, even with heavy Lightroom/Photoshop use. Drivers are up to date.

Nothing appears on the desktop, and the DVD doesn't play (this is the second DVD I've tried). The drive works to download software though. These are commercial DVDs from Lovefilm in the UK - there are bound to be some scratches - does this mean I can only play new DVDs?
Also, if I click Finder to eject the DVD, the command is light gray, meaning the IMAC has not actually registered that there's a DVD in the drive, so I have to log off and on again for the DVD icon to appear on the desktop, at which point I can eject it. However, if I click it, it doesn't play. I'd really like to play films if I can.
I don't know what operating system I have, except that it's MAC OS X. I only just got it new two days ago.

I followed the instructions which read: Setting up your keyboardPlug the USB cable from your keyboard into an available USB port on your MacChoose Apple>Software Update from the menu bar and follow the onscreen instructions.When installation is complete and you've restarted you Mac, use Software Update again to make sure all of the available updates are installed.
I followed these instructions, and the best that I got told is that my iTunes was out of date, which I updated. My keynboard is working (obviously, I was able to post this), but it isn't recognizing the new placement of the volume buttons and such.

I just got a Mac Mini (March 2009 model) and want to connect it via Firewire to my Sony TRV-22 camcoder. The camcorder has a Mini DV Firewire jack on it (I think this is called a 4-pin connector sometimes too). But on the Mac Mini, I can't tell if I need a 6-pin or a 9-pin. Using Migration Assistant, I'm trying to transfer back-up files (whole system) from my Western Digital, External HDD to a new-to-me iMac which I've just purchased used. The External HDD has all my files (hopefully!) from my recently stolen iMac. As you can imagine, the circumstances are a bit unexpected and unsettling.
I've followed Apple's instructions for using MA with an external drive, but get hung up like others before me when it comes time for my new (used) computer to locate the disc from which to transfer the files. I've read the replies to others who have posted with similar difficulties using Snow Leopard, but resolving the issue seems to be just out of reach.
Original computer is now unavailable (stolen); it last ran on Snow Leopard, 10.6.3 to 6.8.New computer is used, and also runs on 10.6.8.Both computers are iMac 2009, tho slightly different versions, if that has any bearing on things.I created a temporary account on my new-to-me computer to make the data transfer, so that there wouldn't be an accounts conflict, as others have suggested.Western Digital External HDD, "My Book, Studio Edition," 1TB. Every once in a while my sound just either stops working, or won't come on when I begin to play something. I try moving the volume up & down, turning things on & off, plugging and unplugging headphones, etc, and there seems to be no consistent method to get it back to functioning... What could be going on to cause this?

I've tried using the USB cable that came with the camera itself, as well as a USB card reader. iPhoto, and the laptop itself does not recognize the card, or that there is any device mounted at all. I've also tried checking "External Disks" in Finder Preferences, didn't seem to work.
