I just bought a Belkin N router (a F5D8236), and I've finally been able to get it to work, but every time I try and set a password on the router itself, it seems to save the wrong one! I've tried several times now (v-e-r-y carefully, checking the capslock key), and the same thing happens. Once I've entered the password and the router resets, I can't login again without reverting to factory settings.

View 1 Replies View Relatedso, i have gotten everything all set up and up and running but one thing that i have noticed is my network connection disconnecting itself. every time i have closed i the lid it has diconnected itself from the network. i realize that it goes to sleep when that happens and it shouldnt be really doing anything in sleep mode. but im kinda p-o'ed at how when i open it up i need to re enter the networs pass word. is there a way that i can make it so that it automatically connects to the network when its opened/turned on? i checked the box that "saves the password as a keychain" what ever that means too.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince Saturday I've been having trouble connecting to the internet. For the last 18 months we've been connected to my Airport Extreme Base Station (2003) which in turn is wired to a Motorola SB5101 cable modem. Every time I had called the ISP (Comcast), they've been able to get it going while I was on the line by restarting the modem (which I tried before calling). Last night nothing would work no matter how many times I rebooted the modem and after many trial and errors, we were able to get connected to the internet by hooking my MBP directly to the ethernet cable from the modem and taking the Airport out of the equation. The service rep decided my router was likely at fault and I wasn't inclined to argue as it is an old router and things do break over time.
However, I ran out and bought a brand new Belkin Share wireless router and now neither that nor the Airport can connect to the internet even when the lights on the modem say all is well. Unfortunately, the Belkin came with it's own software package for router management and setup, which I'm not too keen on. It kept saying it couldn't connect to the modem or that the internet connection to the modem was lost. In tonight's efforts, I'm always able to plug my MBP right into the modem and get a connection, but as soon as I move that cable to the Airport or the new Belkin, my internet is gone. The Airport connection in the Network section of System Preferences always comes up as connected, but the Belkin glows dark red instead of green and the accompanying software says no connection to the internet can be found.
Does this sound more like the fault of the modem, the ISP, or me, the user? Any help would be much appreciated. Although I am able to connect now, my roommate's computer doesn't even have an ethernet port.
So I'm trying to connect my MBP to my new Belkin Double N+ (F6D6230uk4) router. I have 2.4 ghz set to b/g and 5 ghz set to n and 20/40hz bandwidth. Last night, when I connected to the router for the first time, I was showing 300mbps, when you Options+click the Airport icon. However, now I'm only showing 145mbps. To be fair, I may have changed a few settings between now and then, but I have no idea how I was able to get 300mbps before. It's as though it's only connecting to one channel, instead of two, which is required for 300mpbs I think?

So my teacher's iMac is behaving weirdly. She turns it on and she is asked to type in the password to log in. It's not set as automatic login. But it says the password is incorrect. She is positive the password is typed in correctly. She reboots it and types in the same password. This time, it lets her in. I tried repairing permissions but to no avail.

I have an old PowerBook G4 which I don't use anymore, due to this problem.I used to run Leopard on it, until it crashed, and I downgraded it to 10.3 (i think.)
Now, I cannot connect to my wifi connection. It reads it, but when I type in the password, (which I assure you is correct) it says that the password is wrong.And when I put in the Leopard install CD (for my macbook) it can't install Leopard, which is obvious, but I can connect to my wifi. How do i fix this wifi problem?

Upon going on the actual mail website and doing an online sign in I have realised that the password is infact correct. How can i resolve this. After plugging in the router and ethernet cable, I turned AirPort "on" on my MacBook Pro. I opened Safari and was taken to my university's Internet registration page--necessary to access the school's Internet hardwire network. I registered my account and then had signal from the router just fine, allowing me to access the Internet as usual.
HOWEVER, the network is unprotected. I have tried several times to change the name of the network from 0016014DFD1A to something else and to give it a WEP password. It never saves my modifications under the Network Profiles window.
How do I give this network a password and change its name?
I just installed a new Modem/Router a Speedport W 502V (I am not impressed with it but my old one died and this needs to do for a few weeks). I like it to store my password but it does not.
I have Autofill on and I have a extension installed called "autocomplete" but it still does not do it. I am also not sure if it still works as there seems to be no download anywhere anymore.?

For some reason, the airport utility was unable to find any airport wireless devices. I also connected the ethernet straight into the mac and it was still giving me the error.I tried making another location. I used to be able to surf the web wirelessly on my Macbook laptop over my home network with no issues. I have Verizon FIOS router. Now, every time I try to run Safari I have to re-select my home router and type in the WEP password, every single time.
