just got a new MacBook Pro the other day and got it all set up and running fine, last night the internet connection failed and now everytime i enter the password it says invalid password. The thing is my pc works fine

I know it's blasphemy, but I'm not a mac person to begin with and this is not making me think any higher of them.I know there are other posts about the issue, but people just keep getting off track with the first posters question.She has Mac OS X version 10.6.3At first it was giving me "invalid password", but that was not the issue, because my dads "HP" laptop was connecting just fineeeeeeee without any errors to drive the consumer insane! Now, it's just giving me "connection timed out".The first thing I did was to do a hard restart of my belkin 802.11g router to reset settings do default. Updated firmware to latest version.
For some reason, the airport utility was unable to find any airport wireless devices. I also connected the ethernet straight into the mac and it was still giving me the error.I tried making another location. I tried moving airport to the top of the network preferences and made ethernet "inactive". I have tried running network Diagnostics in safari and that was a waste of time..(sorry I'm so negative, but this has really gotten to me) This just kept giving me an error saying it can't fix the issue because it has no idea as well.I'm at the end of my rope and would love to have my opinion of macs back on the "maybe" side of things.
What is the best router to have for my iMac 27", 3.06 gig? I currently have a Belkin N1 Wireless Router, but it has been acting up lately, dropping my connection, requiring disconnect/re-connect.

Her MacBook is networked through my iMac (OS X 10.6.4) and is setup to print via my printer.
The connection to the printer stopped working, I tried to troubleshoot it, but needed the admin password. She didn't know if she had one so I used the installation disk to change eliminate the need for one. But for some things I'm asked for the keychain password, she doesn't remember if she has one.
According to the keychain help, the keychain password should automatically be the same as the admin or login password. There isn't a login password anymore, and keychain isn't accepting a blank password,so I'm locked out of some functions requiring the keychain.
I created a new keychain, but when online, I get a lot of unverified certificate errors. I try to change them individually to accept them, but I'm asked for the keychain password. If I can access the old keychain, is there a way to copy all of its certificates to the new keychain?
I can't figure out how to change the keychain password for the old keychain as without it, I can't accept certificates even with the new keychain. I'm really stuck.
i have a router connected to my mac via ethernet. With my windows pc the router works as expected but when connected to the mac it drops the connection frequently. Does anyone have this problem?

I recently tried to partition my hard drive and while doing so it prompted me informing me that there was an 'invalid node structure'. I could then no longer proceed with the partition. I had planned on updating my OS to Snow Leopard. I wanted to partition my internal HD, so I backed up some files on my external HD. I basically wanted my interal HD to run smoothly with a new OS while minimizing the space used. Now I've come across this issue where there is another message being prompted that says, 'invalid sibling links on hard drive'. I found THESE steps on another forum that informed me that this might restore the hard drive back to a readable/functional state but that didn't work either:

Boot off the OS X CD (reboot, hold C while booting).The installer will load up, go to Utilities in the menu and run Terminal.Type df and look for the drive that has your Mac system mounted---you'll have to unmount this. On my MacBook Pro, it was /dev/disk0s2.Type umount /dev/disk0s2, replacing disk0s2 with whatever disk your OS lives on.Type fsck_hfs -r /dev/disk0s2. If you umounted the wrong thing, it will complain that you can't repair a mounted drive. Go back and umount the right thing and repeat this step.
I then stumbled upon a few different forums mentioning something about Disk Warrior. I was wondering if THAT would resolved this issue. Honestly, I don't really want to spend much money on buying this but I WILL buy a new hard drive if I ABSOLUTELY need to. I was just trying to see if I can troubleshoot this before I decide to throw in the towel and buy a new hard drive or attempt to try out this Disk Warrior thing.

I have lost the sign on password for our router. At one time it was the phone number but then it changed to some 8 digit number which unfortunately I did not save anywhere...duh...any suggestions on how to either find that number on my macbook or re set a new one?

As far as I understand the problem is with the security system. The DI-524 is set-up for WEP 64bit HEX and i tried using the laptop set-up for WEP password with 40-128 bit range with HEX configuration. When I remove the security system from the router, connection is easy.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently bought a NETGEAR WNR3500L 300Mbps + gigabit ethernet port. I keep hearing that my airport card should handle 300 Mbps just fine. But when I enable it on my netgear router settings my going to "Uo To 300Mbps" from default "Up to 150Mbps" I get horrible bandwidth...like 8Mbps. If i choose 150Mbps, everything opens up. I am going to figure out why 300Mbps mode isn't working.

I used to be able to get a connection on the second floor (the router is in the basement, right where the old one always was) but now I can only connect at my kitchen table, one floor directly above the router. About a week ago I got a DrayTek Vigor 2910VG router. The thing's a dream in terms of features (VoIP, Dual WAN, USB port, etc.), but WLAN has been a complete headache. After a fresh restart of my iMac (see my sig for the computers on my home network, all of which are affected by this problem), I can usually connect to the WPA/WPA2-encrypted WLAN. Then, for reasons I can't determine, I will lose all access to the Internet and to other computers on the local network.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a strange issue with my TimeCapsule (firmware version 7.4.2). The TimeCapsule is connected to my router, an AVM FRITZ!Box 7140, via an ethernet cable, and I connect my MacBook Pro wirelessly with the Time Capsule. Every few hours or so (but sometimes once in every 10 minutes), the light on the TimeCapsule blinks yellow for about 10 seconds, and during that time the MacBook Pro looses connection to the internet. My best guess is that the TimeCapsule somehow looses its own internet connection.
Two more details: the TimeCapsule is in Bridge Mode, and I do not see any relevant entries in AirPort Utility's logs...
