View 6 RepliesI just recently got Verizon Fios internet. I am having a problem with making the router they supplied my default router.I am not trying to piggy back or connect additional routers. I just want to use the Fios router.Prior to Fios, I had Time Warner and i used my own router and as soon as I opened up my macbook, it would immediately find that router as my default. Now, with Fios, when i open my "Airport" icon at the top on my screen, it NEVER choses my Fios router as my default, making me change to it every time i want to use my internet after opening up my computer.

There is a USB port on the back and I was wondering if I could use that to somehow connect my WD HD to it so that I can use it wirelessly for Time Machine back-up.
I would buy a Time Capsule or Airport Extreme, but the Verizon router is the central hub for my Internet, cable, and phone. And of course I'd save about $200 if I can do this too.
I reset my Buffalo Airstation WHR-G545 router (by holding the INIT button on he bottom). After plugging in the router and ethernet cable, I turned AirPort "on" on my MacBook Pro. I opened Safari and was taken to my university's Internet registration page--necessary to access the school's Internet hardwire network. I registered my account and then had signal from the router just fine, allowing me to access the Internet as usual.
HOWEVER, the network is unprotected. I have tried several times to change the name of the network from 0016014DFD1A to something else and to give it a WEP password. It never saves my modifications under the Network Profiles window.
How do I give this network a password and change its name?
I just installed a new Modem/Router a Speedport W 502V (I am not impressed with it but my old one died and this needs to do for a few weeks). I like it to store my password but it does not.
I have Autofill on and I have a extension installed called "autocomplete" but it still does not do it. I am also not sure if it still works as there seems to be no download anywhere anymore.?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Belkin N router (a F5D8236), and I've finally been able to get it to work, but every time I try and set a password on the router itself, it seems to save the wrong one! I've tried several times now (v-e-r-y carefully, checking the capslock key), and the same thing happens. Once I've entered the password and the router resets, I can't login again without reverting to factory settings.

For some reason, the airport utility was unable to find any airport wireless devices. I also connected the ethernet straight into the mac and it was still giving me the error.I tried making another location. I tried moving airport to the top of the network preferences and made ethernet "inactive". I have tried running network Diagnostics in safari and that was a waste of time..(sorry I'm so negative, but this has really gotten to me) This just kept giving me an error saying it can't fix the issue because it has no idea as well.I'm at the end of my rope and would love to have my opinion of macs back on the "maybe" side of things.

I just got a MacBook Pro (bootcamp with Vista) and I want to transfer all my old files from my PC desktop onto my new MacBook. So far I have connected both computers to a router via ethernet and copied some files, but I have only figured out how to do this while the Mac is bootcamped into Vista. I have the computers hooked up correctly, but what do I do within Mac OS X in order to transfer files from my PC desktop straight to OS X. So far I have copied to Bootcamp Vista, then copied from that to my main OS X partition, but this is way slow. I want to copy directly to OS X.

Well that should not be a problem seeing as how I am the administrator and so I type in my name and my password and it says "you must type an administrator's name and password to make changes to software update." So I went to system settings and checked and it no longer has my account as the administrator and I can't make any changes because I am not the administrator no more. After installing Leopard, this has happened. What should I do? (I am fairly new to Macs, I have had my Macbook about 3 months.) I also noticed that my Macbook (when I shut it) has started to wake itself up from sleep mode and stay that way while it's still closed.

Well i didn't want my sister to have admin (IN retro it doesn't matter), how ever i make my account, and make it a admin. Well as it turns out as i made the account you had to have some "Finger board"? password. and i lacked that. not thinking i shut down the comp for the night.... and then went back in the morning to relise that all i had was a user level account.

When making a purchase on the iTunes store, I checked the "remember password for purchases" box. I'd like to disable this. I went into preferences and clicked "reset warnings" and all that, but it still remembers my password when making purchases. Anyone know how to disable this?

Unfortunately I wrote the wrong username, and now, even though I've deleted the printer several times and added it again, I still can't print anything. The box that I wrote my username and password do not pop up.
So how do I delete the printer and make it forget my username and password?

how can i make links from a certain application open in a certain browser
E.g
-links from Mail app open in Safari(default browser)
-links from Entourage app open in firefox
I decided to try safari 3 again after I got Leopard, I like it except for one thing, some links will open in a new window that in other browsers would open in a new tab. is there any way to make Safari do this by default without having to command click on the links?
