I used to be able to surf the web wirelessly on my Macbook laptop over my home network with no issues. I have Verizon FIOS router. Now, every time I try to run Safari I have to re-select my home router and type in the WEP password, every single time. I tell it to save the password to my keychain and it just doesn't remember my previous connections
View 3 Repliesit's a random thing, and it's happening to all 3 accounts I have in Mail. When it happens a box comes up and says that I need to enter the password. I have it stored to save and when the box comes up I click "remember my password" but it keeps coming up. it's not ever day, it's random.

I just installed a new Modem/Router a Speedport W 502V (I am not impressed with it but my old one died and this needs to do for a few weeks). I like it to store my password but it does not.
I have Autofill on and I have a extension installed called "autocomplete" but it still does not do it. I am also not sure if it still works as there seems to be no download anywhere anymore.?

Upgraded a friend to Snow Leopard the other day. All was fine except that mail was taking 20-30 seconds to send mail. Finally isolated it to a router setting of some kind, as plugging directly to the modem resolved the issue. (The computer having trouble sending mail is actually a hard-wired desktop) However, when I plugged the router back in to set it up again and start troubleshooting, it would not save any changes. So logging into the router at 192.168.1.1 from the wired desktop, changing any settings, and pressing 'save' just brings up an 'unable to load page' Safari prompt.
Has anybody run into this issue after ugrading to SL? (or to Leopard, for that matter?)

I am trying to uninstall Virex 7.5. I have got the Terminal uninstall command which opens Terminal. So far, so good. However, Terminal is asking me for my admin password but it's not allowing me to enter it. The cursor is not blinking it's just a solid black oblong - just bl**dy sitting there! Absolutely no response to any key except the enter key - then terminal helpfully says, 'Sorry, try again' What's going on? I just wanna get rid of Virex!!!

For example I have to re-enter my username and pass for macrumors atleast once everyday. Also it seems that Safari occasionally hogs more memory and resources after extended use. Anyone else?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn 10.6.2, I noticed that in the Get Info window, permissions for a file could be changed without having to "unlock" the operation with the administrator password. This was not the case in Leopard, which required the admin password before permissions could be changed through the Get Info window.
I found this to be concerning from a security standpoint. I had hoped that 10.6.3 would fix the issue, but it still appears to be a problem. I've noticed this on three different machines, two with clean installs of 10.6 and one with an upgrade from 10.5. Does anyone else notice this issue? Am I right in assuming that this is a security issue? The ability for permissions to be changed for any file directly from the Finder's Get Info window without even an admin password seems to be rather insecure to me.
I have an apple remote control (the new aluminum ones). As I have log in password set up on my mac, when my mac is asleep, and I want to use my remote control, my mac wakes up with the window asking for my log in password, as it happens when you wake your mac up. Before entering the password, you cant see the "front row" screen.
Is there anyway that I can enter my password remotely using my apple remote? Or do I have to come back to my mac, enter the password by keyboard and then be able to use remote control? If not possible to use apple remote; maybe some good iPhone app instead
1. when i first startup my macbook the finder doesn't appear at the very top of the screen and my trash will not open as well.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi recently bought an Airport Express, and i finally took it out of its box after i purchased my new stereo. I connected the audio cable to the stereo and the airport unit and plugged it into an outlet. I opened up airport utility on my mac, AX appeared and i configured it to "join a wireless network". After completing the remaining steps, i updated it.. and waited for it to restart. Now here's my problem. It comes up with an error telling me it couldn't find the device after restarting. I have Verizon FiOS as my provider.. and I know that airport express has a history of trouble with the Actiontec router. Is there anything i can do with my current equipment to get this thing to work? I do not need to extend the network.. only join to use airtunes and print wirelessly... Also, my Actiontec router and FiOS connection are through my crappy dell pc downstairs, while i am using my 24" iMac upstairs in my bedroom trying to connect this. Should i change my router's settings?

So I just installed Tech Tool Deluxe onto my macbook and then shut it down later. I went back to use it again and when i turned it on a login screen appeared asking me to put in my password. I did that and the screen turned blue (looking like it was loading) and then went back to the login screen. Every time i put in my password it just takes me back to the login screen. I have had my mac for a while and i dont want my hardrive to get wiped out so what do i do? Thank you for looking
View 1 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden, every time I reboot, my screen's brightness is all the way up. So, I go to 'Preferences' and bring it down to only happen again the next time I reboot. Not a terrible problem, I hope, but not sure why the settings of this doesn't remain as I left it last. Perhaps I have picked up something OR I have a fault which could get worse?Anyone seen anything like this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI work for a University and the school bought me an iMac in January. Before giving it to me they had a username and password put on it so that only I could access it. I took it home for the summer and realized that the login info would only work on the school's network. To get around this I erased the account by holding down "command +S" during startup. It solved the problem and I was able to login and use the computer however now it says iTunes cannot be located and therefore cannot be used and when I use Safari it will not save any of the settings changes like changed startup pages etc. I reinstalled Lion by pressing "command + R" during startup but still encounter the same problem. how to completely erase everything and go back to factory settings?

Upon launching, the app opens a dialog window saying, "Mail can't connect to the Google account 'Gmail'. Enter the password for user (username)." Then when I enter the password, the app crashes. Sometimes clicking the "Cancel" botton allows the app to open, but sometimes that results in a crash as well. Also, when I can launch Mail successfully, sometimes when I try to send mail, the outgoing mail will sit in the Outbox unsent.
I've been getting these warnings with both my Yahoo and Gmail accounts. Until a few days ago I was using Yahoo as my primary account, but the inability to send mail caused me to switch to Gmail as my primary. After a couple days of smooth sailing, I'm now getting the same errors with my Gmail.
I have the latest version of Safari (5.0.2) on Snow Leopard 10.6.4. I'm also using 1Password (3.4.4). I'm encountering two issues:
1) Safari rarely Autofills user/passwords when surfing. Autofill is checked off for "User names and passwords".
2) I keep getting prompted over and over again to save my login information in Safari. I continue to click "Yes" but neither Autofill remembers the information and I get prompted again the next time I login.
When I try to just hit enter as my password it says it's incorrect. What do I type for no password?

This was happening with my old 2006 Macbook. I just upgraded to a new MacBook Pro the other day and I am still having the same problem. For years it worked without a problem. One day I cleared the cache and Safari no longer saved bookmarks or allowed me to delete exisiting ones.
I am able to delete old ones and add new, but the program reverts to previously saved very old settings on restart.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI used an external Windows formatted USB hard drive to transport my files from my old laptop to my new Black MacBook.
There are files I do not need, so on my MacBook I highlighted the files and directories and dragged them to the trash, a dialog box asked me for my password, I supplied it, then nothing happened, ie, it did not delete the files.
I am not sure what this means, and I want to delete the files.
I have a G4 450 OS 10.4.11 and when I went to restart it it asked for a password. I have used this system for a few years and this has never happened? I used my regular password and it worked but now every time I restart it, it asks me the same thing. What is also weird is that It says Powermac G3 above the password box. My system is a G4. I believe the drive came out of a G3 computer at one time but not sure how that relates. This has never happened before. I went to system preferences security tab and it does not show login is enabled at all. I did not do anything that I know of to cause this? How can I remove this login requirement and what does it mean that it says G3 when it is a G4?

I cannot login into the iTunes-Store or iTunes-Account on my MacBook Pro. The following problem occures:
1) I type in the correct Apple-ID and password,
2) my Apple-ID appears in the left corner in iTunes - but nevertheless:
3) iTunes repeatedly asks for my password - again and again. I am absolutely sure that I typed in the correct password, because I also use the same Apple-ID + password on my iMac and everything is fine on the iMac (but not on my MacBook Pro).
Additional information:My girlfriend and me use the same mac + itunes to log in with each our Apple-IDs: The same problem for her on my MacBook. I already reinstalled the newest iTunes Version from apple.comOn my iMac everything works fine (with both accounts).
