When i am supposed to type my password in the terminal, so i can uninstall an addons, i can't write... I can press enter, and it jump down a line, but when i write there, it pop up: Sorry wrong password Try again. What shall i do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedYes I know other people have posted this and gotten the answer that you just put it ion anyways and you wont see it come up but it works. Well I do not actually have a password set so usually I just hit enter with it blank but when I do that in Terminal it says sorry wrong password or something until I hit the 3rd try and it boots me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI do not have a password set on my MBP, but anytime that I have to sudo anything in Terminal it asks for my password. If I just leave it blank like at login, it says the password is incorrect. I have to do is set up a password use it in Terminal then I remove it afterwards. This is very annoying. Is there any way that I can do this without having to set the password every time?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to do something in terminal, and it asks for my password. I press a letter on my keyboard, and nothing appears. I am in the right window and everything, terminal just doesn't react to my typing. However, when I click enter, it says 'Sorry, try again'. So it does react to the enter key.
been trying to log onto airport with my pismo at work. log in attempt pops up a window claiming that my password is wrong...but system admin says and demonstrates it isn't with other laptops...plus, I can log into non-password protected wifi in the building no problem...what's going on? I tossed all my internet pref files...still same issue...

It will look also in other volumes I have. What is the right way to search only the current volume? I came up with this:find /Volumes/Lion/ -name foo which will return a result like /Volumes/Lion//foo.Is this the right way to do this with the result containing double slashes?

I partitioned my disk using Terminal's diskutil. I decided i didnt need the partition anymore, so i deleted it (using Disk Utility.app) and added the free space to my mac partition. Basically, Finder and Terminal dont show the free space added back, and Disk Utility shows the space added back to the disk. I tried restarting, repairing disk (which coincidentally had an unrelated problem), repairing permissions, but the problem is still happening
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to do research on how to fix my current problem of not being able to open my terminal window. When attempting to do so I get the following error message:
You are unauthorized to run this application.
The administrator has set your shell to an illegal value.
I looked at some previous posts and some people said download iterm2 and put the following command: sudo chsh -s /bin/bash my_username. After this enter password and it should be fixed. However when doing that I get the following response: SC is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.
Couple of things, firstly SC (which is me) is the administrator to this computer (this is my computer and there are no other users on it).

I am trying to uninstall Virex 7.5. I have got the Terminal uninstall command which opens Terminal. So far, so good. However, Terminal is asking me for my admin password but it's not allowing me to enter it. The cursor is not blinking it's just a solid black oblong - just bl**dy sitting there! Absolutely no response to any key except the enter key - then terminal helpfully says, 'Sorry, try again' What's going on? I just wanna get rid of Virex!!!

View 9 Replies View RelatedTrying to run the following command as a Launch Agent (OS X 10.7): /usr/bin/find /Users/username/Documents/Dropbox/Public -type f -mtime +2 -print0 | xargs -0 rm -r
Created a plist file (reproduced below) and saved to ~/Library/Launch Agents, but the command isn't executed either at the specified time or when the agent is loaded via launchctl. If I change the command to a simple Applescript test: osascript -e 'tell Application "Finder" to display dialog "hello"'
It runs correctly as a launch agent when loaded and as the specified time Which means there's something wrong with the first command (find). But the command runs as written when executed manually in the terminal.

So my teacher's iMac is behaving weirdly. She turns it on and she is asked to type in the password to log in. It's not set as automatic login. But it says the password is incorrect. She is positive the password is typed in correctly. She reboots it and types in the same password. This time, it lets her in. I tried repairing permissions but to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Belkin N router (a F5D8236), and I've finally been able to get it to work, but every time I try and set a password on the router itself, it seems to save the wrong one! I've tried several times now (v-e-r-y carefully, checking the capslock key), and the same thing happens. Once I've entered the password and the router resets, I can't login again without reverting to factory settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an old PowerBook G4 which I don't use anymore, due to this problem.I used to run Leopard on it, until it crashed, and I downgraded it to 10.3 (i think.)
Now, I cannot connect to my wifi connection. It reads it, but when I type in the password, (which I assure you is correct) it says that the password is wrong. And when I put in the Leopard install CD (for my macbook) it can't install Leopard, which is obvious, but I can connect to my wifi. How do i fix this wifi problem?

I inherited a G5 from a colleague who left the department however I was not given a firmware password. So now I cannot re-install the OS OR work in terminal. I have tried the remove RAM and then reset PRAM. I have tried booting off disk but that is locked. I have tried replacing HD with new one but cannot boot off disk to install onto it. What is left for me to try to get this working and now the person is not available to just tell me what password is, they left months ago.
