been trying to log onto airport with my pismo at work. log in attempt pops up a window claiming that my password is wrong...but system admin says and demonstrates it isn't with other laptops...plus, I can log into non-password protected wifi in the building no problem...what's going on? I tossed all my internet pref files...still same issue...
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to run Cache Out. The program asks for the system password. I type in my usual password that I use for installing programs, or trashing stuff from the system folder... It won't allow me to run the program, saying the password is wrong.
When i am supposed to type my password in the terminal, so i can uninstall an addons, i can't write... I can press enter, and it jump down a line, but when i write there, it pop up: Sorry wrong password Try again. What shall i do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedYes I know other people have posted this and gotten the answer that you just put it ion anyways and you wont see it come up but it works. Well I do not actually have a password set so usually I just hit enter with it blank but when I do that in Terminal it says sorry wrong password or something until I hit the 3rd try and it boots me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mail has been working fine on my mail app on my macbook pro... until recently. Its repeatedly prompting me for my password and then says it is incorrect and to try again. Upon going on the actual mail website and doing an online sign in I have realised that the password is infact correct. How can i resolve this. Additionally, its also happening on my iphone which is why I know its something I need to alter with my apple products.

But it says the password is incorrect. She is positive the password is typed in correctly. She reboots it and types in the same password. This time, it lets her in. I tried repairing permissions but to no avail.

some say on the internet that the system is already damaged.
I just bought a Belkin N router (a F5D8236), and I've finally been able to get it to work, but every time I try and set a password on the router itself, it seems to save the wrong one! I've tried several times now (v-e-r-y carefully, checking the capslock key), and the same thing happens. Once I've entered the password and the router resets, I can't login again without reverting to factory settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an old PowerBook G4 which I don't use anymore, due to this problem.I used to run Leopard on it, until it crashed, and I downgraded it to 10.3 (i think.)
Now, I cannot connect to my wifi connection. It reads it, but when I type in the password, (which I assure you is correct) it says that the password is wrong. And when I put in the Leopard install CD (for my macbook) it can't install Leopard, which is obvious, but I can connect to my wifi. How do i fix this wifi problem?
Just a strange occurrence this evening: I just watched a DVD on superdrive: when it finished, I ejected it and glanced at my Finder menu bar. IStat Menus gave me a temp of 135 and rising (went as high as 140 degrees a few minutes after ejecting and shutting down DVD Player). But the fans aren't on at all--never came on, as far as I can tell--and the MBA feels cool to the touch. Now it's maybe 20 minutes later and iStat reads temps as still at 115 degrees. But my laptop feels totally cool to the touch. I restarted, hoping to reset iStat, but no change. Any idea as to what's going on?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Mac Book Pro Mid 2009 (nVIDIA M9400) is showing the wrong colors. Some grey colors are displayed brighter then they should be displayed. They look whiter. If I take a screenshot and display this picture on another screen, the colors are displayed correctly. The I've tried to calibrate the colors. That didn't solve the problem. I also tried to reset the PRAM with pressing CMD+ALT+P+R while booting. No effect. Also I installed the drivers from nVIDIA again. The only method, that worked right now is starting a game, which changes the screen resolution etc. After closing the game, the Mac is showing the colors correct.

View 14 Replies View RelatedIn anticipation of picking up a MBP when they're eventually refreshed (though I'll wait a couple weeks to see if there are any reported problems, as I went through 4 defective 27" iMacs recently), I was reading about battery use/care in a forum thread. Then I just checked the Laptop Battery Guide ( [URL] listed at the topic of this forum section and found 2 issues I'm curious about:
1) There are 2 differing explanations of what a battery cycle is. In the "What is "full cycle"?" section, it says that a "cycle is when the total battery power is less then 50% before it is recharged." But in the "What this means" section, it says "every time your fully deplete the power equal to one maximum charge, your battery has gone through one cycle." Which one appropriately describes a full cycle?
2) The guide also says that "it is best to fully drain the battery before you charge it up again." However, this site ([URL] says the opposite. That lithium ion batteries prefer "a partial rather than a full discharge. Frequent full discharges should be avoided when possible." Is the forum guide incorrect?
I was writing an email in Russian when I had to leave my computer - so I locked it. When i came back, I tried to log back in. A shocking surprise: Mac was using a Russian layout and I have found no way to switch back to English to type my username and password (which are in English). I tried:
- resetting the PRAM (booting while holding option+Command+R+P)
- booting in single user mode and adding an admin user with empty username/password
- booting in single user mode and messing around with /var/log/CDIS/.custom (turned out it was set to "English" anyway)
I booted in a normal mode and started trying all random key combinations in hopes to switch to English. I frustration, I typed my password in the password box -- while using the Russian layout -- and voila - I was logged in. What happened was: when I added another layout, I had no idea that I needed to check a box to "Show input method on login screen" in a menu that is completely different from "Languages and Input" menu (in the Accounts-> Login Options). So when computer got locked, it wanted me to use the language I used last to login without providing an option of switching. I argue this is not user-friendly.
When I did select that box to show languages at login, I discovered something else: the username box wants you to use the language you used last by default (i.e. Russian), but the password box wants you to use English (that's why I was abke to login at all). Also: when focus is on the password field (and the language box show an American flag), when I go to switch the language, it shows a list of three Russian layouts of which only one is enabled -- and no English at all!

View 2 Replies View RelatedMacBook Pro 10.6.8 [url]I need someone to explain this to me...RAM usage of all open programs together amounts to approx 1.5 GB..so there should be over 2.0 GB left...why is there only 203 MB left? I'm getting so sick of this.. my computer is incredibly slow.. it's amazing how no matter what you do computers always become slow eventually, no matter what you do.. (mine is about 1 1/2 yrs old) I thought with a mac this might be different, but no dice...4 GB really should be enough, certainly for the programs I have open that show in the screenshot..(I have plenty of free room in HD, by the way, so that's not the problem)

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn order to make my wireless internet network secure, I added a password to it today. Every other computer in the house, as well as my XBox 360, is able to connect to the internet using the password that I set up. For some reason, when I try to connect to my Macbook, it tells me that the password is wrong, yet it works with the other 3 computers in my house. What am I missing? Do I need to change my settings on Airport? My wireless router is obviously working so what do I need to do?

Could it be a faulty DVI to HDMI cable? even though the lowest resolution works?
UPDATE::
I got the DVI to HDMI cable replaced and now my macbook does display on the big screen, however i am having a problem with colors and fonts looking weird..
Beside playing with the settings on the monitor, is there anything that I can do on the Mac itself? or any apps to modify these settings?
I currently have a MBP1, 1 running 10.6.4 on an external monitor with the ideal resolution at 1920x1200. From time to time, when I wake my MBP from sleep through external keyboard/mouse to have it run solely on the external monitor, it sets the display at 1600x1200, so everything seems squished vertically. After a fresh reformat, the problem persists, though it is less frequent. It's just a minor annoyance that I can't seem to find a solution to fix permanently. I usually have to go to safe mode and adjust the resolution back to normal. Alternatively, only sometimes if I put it back to sleep and wake it up again with the external keyboard, it will detect the right settings.

on Apple's website it twice says that the MBP-R supports 2880 x 1800 as I quote: Retina display: 15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology; 2880-by-1800 resolution at 220 pixels per inch with support for millions of colorsSupported resolutions: 2880 by 1800 pixels (Retina); scaled resolutions: 1920 by 1200, 1680 by 1050, 1280 by 800, and 1024 by 640 pixelsI OWN a MBP-R and there is NO internal support for this resolution. The one that is not mentioned is the Retina optimized display of 1440 x 900. Is this a typo?
