ITunes :: Keeps Quitting Unexpectedly - Determining Gapless Playback Information
Mar 26, 2012
This has just started happening recently. I believe it may have something to do with Fluke; however I have totally uninstalled iTunes twice and it keeps happening. This seems to happen when iTunes is "Determining Gapless Playback Information".
Error log below as I cannot open iTunes at all! Crashes immediately upon opening.
Process: iTunes [12051]
Path: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes
Identifier: com.apple.iTunes
Version: 10.6 (10.6)
Build Info: iTunes-10604001~1
Code Type: X86 (Native)
[Log] .....
I open iTunes and first thing it does (every time!) is "Determining Gapless Playback Information" for a small (400 tracks, approx) subset of my 4,000 tunes library. I've checked and re-checked my tunes. I have NO tracks set to "Part of a gapless album".this process repeats itself sometimes when I'm importing new tunes, even after the app has been launched for awhile. iTunes starts scanning the same 400 (approx) files AGAIN, as I add new music. It takes 30-60 seconds to run through this process. Annoying!Â
Everytime I open ITunes, it says "determining gapless information" which kills performance and randomly stalls ITunes. Is there anyway to disable it from determining gapless information?
just moved my whole iTunes library (21560 songs) to my 2TB Time Capsule... And well everything went great, until I updated to iTunes 10, it updated the iTunes library on open, fine, took two minutes on the ageing MBA, but now, it is Determining gapless playback for my entire library... And it's been going for about 6 hours and it's on 856/21560, so my question is... Is there anyway to stop iTunes doing this?
I have several multi-CD opera albums loaded into iTunes for Mac. I've merged them (same album name, marked as part of a compilation, though I've kept the individual CD #s and track #s) so that each opera shows as one album in iTunes. I've also set gapless playback. This works fine for tracks within each of the opera's discs (i.e. no gap between track 2, 3, 4 etc.)
I'm still hearing gaps when iTunes moves from one CD to the next (i.e. between the last track on CD 1 and the first track on CD 2). The gap is about 5 seconds and seems to occur whichever opera/ set of CDs I playback. Is there a way to eliminate this? I don't think this gap is native to the CDs themselves as it occurs across tracks that are part of the same act/scene. I'm using the latest version of iTunes and this refers to playback on my Mac.
I have recently upgraded my iTunes to version 10.6 on my MacBook Pro and have since been having issues. Evey time i open the application a error message pops up stating 'iTunes has unexpectedly quit' and gives me a error review. If i could avoid backing up my library and reintalling the software that would be pferefable.
When i try to launch, i get a box that appears for a second asking if I want to "restore windows" then it disappears and the "Itunes quit unexpectedly" box appears.
I'm new to the forums, and if I am honest, I have only signed up because I am seriously starting to panic about the health of my Mac Book. Recently Mac OS X has been quitting unexpectedly, and I have no idea why. It just seems to happen randomly while I am surfing the internet, and it has only started happening since I bought my USB mobile internet dongle. What could be causing the problem? Do you think it is anything serious?
My Macbook is a white, early 2008 version, it is a 2.1 Intel Core 2 Duo with 1 gig of ram,
This is my first time posting here, and I don't really like signing up to forums but this is a crisis. My problem is, I cannot open any application whatsoever. I can only open up Firefox, but everything else just jumps around the dock for a second and the error message "the application ______ quit unexpectedly". So if you try to open it again, it just bounces around the dock and the error message appears again. I've uninstalled the apps, and installed them again...NOTHING.
This only started happening after I updated to the Security Update 2010-004 (1.0). I know for sure that's the culprit, but I don't know what to do. It's putting me through so much stress, I almost feel like crying. The worst part is, when I click system update, the system update itself jumps around the dock and disappears to only have that "the application _____ quit unexpectedly".
Having a bit of a problem with my mac was hoping someone could help me. Have a mac book with os.x 10.5.6 but every time I close over my mac and reopen it a black screen appears with the power symbol in grey saying that mac os.x has quit unexpectedly and for me to either hold down the power button for the restart or switch it off. It's very irritating cause of the annoyance of having to restart the whole computer every time I close it over. Has anyone any solutions or suggestions?
I bought Coversutra on Thursday. Started using it on Friday. And it's quit on me twice. And, I didn't do anything to cause it too quit. Has this happened to anyone else?
I bought a new mac today and installed osx again... even though it comes installed, from that point i now can not get into safari and it keeps unexpectedly quitting instantly. what should i do, did i already mess up the computer bad?
I have been using iDVD V6.0.4 for a couple of years now and all of a sudden it won't open. I have tried opening every movie I have made with it with the same results.I have tried all of the recommendations in the help area but still get the same message. My question is this: would reinstalling only the software from the installation disk possibly solve this problem. I don't want to cause other problems with my mac by doing this.
The problem started yesterday, the software does this about every half hour to an hour or so, a box pops up and says Safari quitted unexpectedly whiling using emergencyrecoverysystem.tmp, the problem is, this so called file does not even exist!! I used Easyfind trying to locate this file, but it's no where to be found. Did I get the virus or something?
My Safari keeps quitting unexpectedly (every 20 minutes or so), "while running" okto something .tmp plug-in. I have no idea what this plug-in is and cannot locate it on my computer to delete it.
Safari quitting just randomly, this has happened me this past 2/3 days, only I have no clue what it means, how to fix it. I've read about clam xav and flashback removal tool, but I am not sure if I am even doing the right thing?
My Final Cut Pro x trial version keeps 'unexpectedly closing' when I try to edit an effect on a clip.I just bought this macboo pro last week.. I left PCs for similar reasons..2.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 .The FCP X trial was working fine.. I have 23 days left, and today it started closing unexpectadly..
This week I have several programs that are quitting unexpectedly, or will not open all of a sudden. Photoshop CS, office 2004, and even the Appleworks programs. They all refuse to open. I uninstalled PS and the office products, and then tried to reinstall and couldn't even do that from the install disk. I did do a disk repair scan, but it said there was nothing wrong with the disk. And I'm getting some SymSecondary launch(whatever that is) failure as well.
Everytime I click on Safari the only thing that pops up is the report box stating that safari had quit unexpectedly. I've tried restarting it many times and still nothing. I've also made sure there arent any updates available, since everything is up to date.
Safari has been quitting unexpectedly every 30-45 minutes sighting a .NationalBiologicalCorp.png plug-in as the problem. It's been doing this for about a day and a half, and I've ran all the flashback trojan checks and it comes up with nothing.
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8. I was just using skype an hour ago but now it keeps quitting unexpectedly. My internet hung so I forced shut it down, restarted in Safe Mode, exited it and started it on the normal mode. I opened skype in safe mode and it was fine! but after that, when i exited safe mode, the error message that skype is quitting unexpectedly keeps showing up! ive tried everything - deleted the files in the skype folder, reinstalled skype but nothing works! I have an anti-virus installed on my mac so I've scanned skype and nothing seems to be infected really desperate now because I use Skype on a daily basis.Â
My Safari keeps quitting unexpectedly and there is nothing I can attribute to the crashing. I have OS 10.5.8. I saw there is an update for 10.6 for flashback malware.
Random applications like Steam, Safari, or even games I've bought close unexpectedly at different times. Safari will close if I try to watch videos occasionally; Steam will close if I try to click on random games; and some games won't even launch, it will still say they "quit" unexpectedly.
i've recently purchased a copy of Adobe's web design package and while I have not experienced any problems with the other applications, Illustrator and Photoshop keep unexpectedly quitting within minutes of me using them. I already had copies of both these programs but I did use the Adobe uninstaller so I didn't think this would be a problem. I've sent reports to Apple.
Recently, my Safari began shutting down and displaying the following error message: "Safari quit unexpectedly while using the .WindowsWallpaperChanger.tmp plug-in."Â It seems to happen when I'm streaming Pandora or Netflix. It happens after about 15 minutes. The "change picture" setting in the system preferences is unchecked. The tmp file is not found on my computer (MacBook Pro).
