I have imported many cd's into itunes and I know how to do it with info as long as it is a store bought cd or a copy of a store bought cd. I have been looking forever and cant find a way to import a mixed cd into itunes and have it recognize the info for each individual track. Is there a plugin or a separate program that could assist in this. I know you can do it one track at a time but modern
View 8 RepliesI have made repeated attempts to burn playlists to disk. But now the tracks are recorded as untitled tracks (with numered order). When I reload the CD's to itunes, I'm prmpted that that itunes can't get track info. THis used to work perfectly, now fails every time. Interface errorr? Perhaps disks too old?

When I burn a playlist to a CD, the disc doesn't list track titles and artists. When I've searched the community I find posts that show how to change burning preferences, but these posts were from a couple of years ago.It appears that Lion doesn't give us the options for burning that Snow Leopard did.Are there settings that I can change to fix this problem, or is this another example of Apple becoming less user friendly.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two Macs, and on one I went through the arduous task of labelling a bunch of CD-R's I made ages ago in Itunes, and now I want to import those discs via different encoding into another computer, but don't want to have to re-enter all that info. When I put the discs into the original machine, the info is still assigned to the disc. I want to migrate that info to the other machine so I won't have to re-enter this stuff. I feel like I found this data at one point ages ago, but now I can't.

I got roughly halfway through importing my collection of about 800 CD's into iTunes 12, before realising that the default import settings applied by iTunes is not 'the best'. In fact it's not set anywhere near 'the best', it's something like 128kbps lossy format. I wanted to import my CD's in lossless CD-quality. WAV would have been ideal. However it would appear I've missed a trick by assuming it would be full-quality unless I specified something else.
I'm not using portable devices to listen to my music, I have a Mac Mini and an endless supply of hard-drive storage space, and I'm only accessing it at home.
A large number of my discs are classical and jazz, and in many cases I've needed to amend or reorganise the metadata, so that it all complies with an overall filing and categorising system that makes sense and is useful. I also have a large number of rock and blues CD's, but their metadata is normally correct when the discs are issued, so they usually doesn't need adjusting. If you're wondering, yes my taste in music is eclectic. I'm just as big a fan of Mozart as I am of Motorhead as I am of Mo Foster. The problem is that with classical and opera it's important that the 'artist' category shows the names of the performer/soloist/conductor/orchestra, not the name of the composer! (I wish I *did* have actual recordings of JS Bach playing the Well Tempered Clavier!!).
So I'm looking at this big pile of CD's thinking, "is it worth re-importing them all again at CD-quality?", because I'd really like top-quality copies, and I only really want to have to do this once. It *is* worth doing so long as I don't have to do all the jiggery-pokery with all the artist/composer data again, because that takes an enormous amount of time.
So the question is... will iTunes 12 let me re-import my discs at maximum quality, but at the same time let me keep the data that was painstakingly edited and stored with the previous (lesser-quality) versions? Or is there a workaround? Maybe I could surreptitiously replace the old audio with new audio when iTunes isn't running and hope that it won't notice?

I have compiled 8 tracks in hope to put them on a CD. After a long wait the CD was supposebly done, but when I tried to play it in my CD player it did not work. could this be caused by iTunes asking me to calibrate the CD? or is it because 5 were in mp3 fromat and 3 were in mpeg-4?

View 9 Replies View RelatedEarly on after I got this G4, I messed with the settings in iTunes some and the first time I burned a disk and tried to play it in my car, it would not play. I burned about 10 different disks using 10 different settings (although I don't remember the particulars now). Never could get any of them to play. I have iTunes 9 and I wonder if anyone can tell me if it's possible to go back to default settings, or change the settings so disks will play on any standard car CD player? I just don't have the knowledge to do.

A lot of times I have a set or other 1 hour - mp3's in my itunes, but I sometimes like to fast forward to certain songs in my car....car fast forward is not as good as itunes fast forward so it sometimes takes forever....it would be nice if we could place track markers in itunes then that info is saved in the mp3 or something....so that when playing fro my iphone i can just fast forward to those markers.....know what i mean?
..it would be ncie to be able to do htis without splitting the original long mp3 into a bunch of small ones...

Gonna be moving from my old mac onto a shiny new MacBook and while its easy enough to take over the contents of my iTunes and the iTunes Library file over to the new machine to preserve my play lists & play counts, I want to be able to take over the CD track name and information so if I put in a CD I had personally amended the information to, the information is still there as apposed to just connecting to the great music database in the sky and downloading the information like it does when I put in a fresh music CD for the first time. When I copied over the Library file to my new machine and put in a CD that had already been done it went ahead and connected to the database instead so obviously the CD information is not stored there. Anyone have any idea what file I should be looking at to copy over or is this going to be horribly difficult?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted a visual representation of all my videos, regardless of format, in iTunes so I've used a combination of QT reference files for AVIs and placeholder M4Vs for DVD rips. To get the placeholders I Handbraked a 7-second clip of a DVD to M4V and applied metadata. This works to get the coverart in iTunes but the minor annoyance to my OCD nature is that the track length shows as 7 seconds (see image). Is there anyway to hack this information somewhere so I can show the actual runtime?

From what I remember thats the way cover flow used to work. Why the switch to embedding artwork in every file? A extra 20+MB per album is just ridiculous(Using a 800x800 PNG).
I know its possible to store the album artwork without embedding it in the file. Because I have a few older albums that still use the old method (storing only a single copy of the artwork in /iTunes/Album Artwork/).
I have been importing my large music CD collection and midway through, I have noticed that the first track of EVERY disc has NOT been copied to my library. The remaining tracks (Track 2 and up) were imported fine. When each CD was importing, everything looked normal and I got a green checkmark next to the first track. What's even more bizarre is that now, I cannot recreate this problem because iTunes imports the first track of every CD as normal. What the heck?! I'm going to have to re-import the first track of every disc now... Did a Google search and got nothing. I'm running the latest, up-to-date iTunes (v9.2) and Mac OS X (v10.6.4).

Anyone else having this problem? I have contacted WD and they said to try a new USB cable and then if that didn't work, to reformat it. So right now I am in the process of moving the 700gb to my imac so that i can try to reformat.

Now hit FFW or REV. What appears in the track info box? Nothing, right? iTunes doesn't show you what song it has shuffled to. It only works if you are playing, not in pause.
Surely this is wrong? Sometimes you want to select song before playing it, right? This works fine on my Ipod. Everyone else have this problem?
iTunes 9.2 just came out. I am trying to add all my PDF's as books but is becoming really daunting. For some reason it will not let me add whole folders of pfd's using import (apple+O). I can import if I select a bunch but its time consuming since I have levels and levels of PDF's. An easier way of importing them. Also was this intended or maybe a bug?

Today I tried inserting a CD to import. iTunes accessed the database to retrieve the relevant song information but, once it did, I was no longer given the option to play or import the CD. During the access period, iTunes would briefly change to the artist/album/track, etc. information page for the CD but, once the access was finished, I could not access the CD, which didn't even show up on the side bar as it used to.
