so for some reason i cant click on my icons, u know the Macintosh HD and folders on desktop. Basically icant click on anything on the desktop and i cant drag anything to the desktop but i can drag things to the trash. everything else is clickable except anything on the desktop
View 3 RepliesThe thing is that about a month or so I decided to change my dock skin, and just the dock, not any icon in particular. Later on I decided to go back to Leopard's original skin, once I replaced non-original skins with the original ones and had dock reseted by introducing "kill all Dock" on terminal, dock successfully reseted and looks like the original one... but somehow since then I can't no longer right-click on any of the icons in it, just can't, now I have to use cmd+Q to exit any of the applications I'm opening from dock. All other dock functions are working perfectly, like size bar and position changing.
The files I replaced/erased are:
scurve-I.png
scurve-m.png
scurve-sm.png
scurve-xl.png
By the way, I tried using "killall Dock" over and over again after replacing those archives and tried resetting dock using candybar application, but none of those worked for me so far.
My workflow entails repetitive tasks that would be so much easier if I could set Leopard's (Safari's) default double-click functionality to select ALL text within the Google search box instead of having to use a triple-click. Does anyone know how to make this change to Leopard/Safari?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to dissassemble my wireless Mighty Mouse to clean it properly, as the trackball was unable to scroll up and down. As I had cleaned the trackball, I attached the two internal cables to their respective "slots" again and assembled the mouse.
Now my right button does the same as the left button (right click = left click). I tried dissassembling the mouse again, but I cannot see what I could have done wrong. After all, there are only two cables to attach and de-attach inside it.
I just bought a mighty mouse, happy as I was, plugged it in and started my ibook running OS X 10.3.9.I know the mighty mouse shouldn't have full functionality (as the software delivered with it is >10.4.2).The problem is that the right click doesn't work right. When I try to right click it sometimes takes the right click, sometimes takes it as a left click (which is extremely annoying in firefox or finder).
I have SteerMouse (I'm a windows/linux user too) installed but when I de�nstalled it the problem remained.
When I plugged the mighty mouse in my pc (at that time running windows) right click just worked.When using a cheap mouse (from pleomax) the right click on the ibook (with Steermouse installed) works all the time.
I find this al really confusing. Seems like it can't be the hardware because it works on windows, but it can't be the software because another mouse does work.
I noticed that when right clicking at the total right side near the "expose-button" (not a position my fingers lay naturally) right click works all the time. I don't hope this is normal?
I'll try and click on a link and nothing, then I click bookmrks in the menu bar, it works, then i can go back and be to click on the link and it'll work.

Drag an icon away and they stay but are covered immediately when the icons rearrange themselves. There are 4 or 5 of them including one hiding behind the trash. hi i'm not sure what happened, but for some reason my dock just messed up. i can't right click anything in the dock and the finder and trash icons are there, but they just disappeared!
When I click and icon to display the options, the last option is in a different language ( I think it's in latin or something).The language on the actualy computer is set to English and I don't know how to fix this problem.

So i haven't had one single problem with my Imac for 1.5 years until Yesterday I recently recieved a SD card that i purchased off ebay and stuck it into the side which I was expecting to popup but didn't This may or may not be the reason why my Imac is acting wierd but basically I cannot Left click at ALL, right click works, the internet works
The taskbar at the bottom with the icons do not have the title shown when I hover down the bottom either. I have a 2010 Imac with 12gb ram that i upgraded to.
Is there any steps that i can follow to ensure my imac runs normally, i have alot of data on computer that i need and i cannot find my boot cd anyhwere

I booted my new 2009 iMac this afternoon and when it came up there was no taskbar across the top. I could not click on the icons on the dock either. the mouse worked and the desktop was there. I have a mouse on my Logitech keyboard and it worked so I know the keyboard did. I had no way to shut down so I held the button down till the machine powered down and it did in a second or so.
I waited about a minute and booted back up again and all came up like normal except the hard drive was running like crazy and the machine was super sluggish.After about a minute the hard drive quit running and all seemed normal.
I shut down like normal and then shut off the surge strip machine is plugged into to have a total power cut. Let sit about 2 minutes powered back on and booted machine and it booted like normal and acts perfectly normal. What caused the anomaly???
Never done it before and machine is about 2 months or old or so. Bought it as soon as new iMac's were released this year. It is the flagship 3.06 iMac. Bone stock. It has all the latest updates. Running 10.5.7
I've seen some posts where one or a couple of these problems have arisen but not all simultaneously. The trash is there somewhere because I can delete but only via finder. The dock however cannot be coaxed back into existence and I can't activate any of the desktop icons by clicking on them. I also can't minimise the windows - the red and green buttons work fine but the yellow (although there and blinks when clicked) doesn't have any effect.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe've had a Macbook now for about 18 months - no problems. However, last night it was very slow in starting-up and then we found it impossible to move any icons around the screen (click+drag). We have just five small folders on the desktop.
Although 'hiding' is 'on', the dock has also disappeared completely and settings for the dock cannot be changed under preferences.
The Macbook won't turn off under 'shut-down', we have to shut-down by holding pressing 'on' button.
Anyone come across a problem where all the desktop icons disappear? I also cannot right click on my desktop to bring up a contextual menu, my machine appears to be running faultlessly apart from that. I have run Onyx to reset permissions and have checked the disk but cannot seem to find anything wrong.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm not able to right click in any method I've tried. I installed the Windows 7 Build 7000 64 iso file. I'm using the unibody aluminum Macbook 2gig. This is my first Mac so please forgive me if I'm being an idiot. I installed the BootCamp64 from the OS X DVD without a problem but since I can't right click I wasn't able to install it as an admin. I also downloaded the newest version from apple directly. I tried following everything in this link : [URL] I can't use the two finger method as that just acts like a single finger. I can't use the control-click option as that does nothing. I've tried Shift-F10 and that does nothing. I even found a program written 3 years ago, [URL] let me do the control-click but I can't get the optino to run anything as an admin so it isn't a fully functional right click. Does anyone have a clue what I've done wrong? Oh and I am able to use a two finger movement on the trackpad to scroll up and down, so that part of the track pad is working after the boot camp64 ran. I'm also able to use all of the function keys.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI updated to 10.6.1 last night...ever since then, I've noticed that tap-to-click seems to be much less responsive, if that makes sense. I guess it seems less sensitive, in that before it never "missed" a click when I tapped my finger anywhere on the trackpad. Now it seems like I'm tapping 2-3 times to get it to recognize. Has anyone else noticed this? There is no where to adjust the sensitivity, and since I am a big use of this feature I'm finding it really, really annoying.

i have a 13" mbp with snowleopard.
some 15 days ago, my trackpad could do all gestures just fine but it couldn't click.
i have the "touch to click" option turned off.
so, after pressing down on the trackpad like 10 times, it could only register one click.
as my warranty was valid back then, i gave my laptop to the service guy. he opened my laptop up, checked the trackpad and said it was fine and he told me that it must be a software problem.
so i erased the hdd and installed leopard and the problem was solved.
whats wrong with my laptop ??

Basically, the trackpad works just fine most of the time. However, sometimes (often enough to be aggravating), it will not click. A typical scenario is this: I'll have a web browser or something open and I will want to close the window. So I go to click the red button. The cursor is over the red button, and the button turns to an x, notifying that I am in the right spot. I will click the trackpad, and it will make the click sound, and nothing will happen. I'll try clicking several more times and nothing. The click just won't register no matter how many times I click. What I will have to do to make it work is stop clicking and take my hand off the trackpad for like 5-6 seconds, then click, and it will work. I do not have tap to click on. This is a 15" MBP 2.4ghz i5.

I am running Mac OS 10.6.5 and using a Magic Mouse.
Yesterday I restarted my PowerMac G5 (dual 2.7Ghz) as normal. When it rebooted my system wouldn't respond to mouse clicks. I can move the pointer around the screen and the system even responds to mouseover events (e.g. the text when you move over an application in the Dock) but it won't respond to clicks. Funny thing is, I tried VNCing in from another computer on my LAN and clicking DOES work from there. I've taken the obvious step of repairing permissions, to no avail. I'm using 10.4.10 and wasn't doing aything unusual or stupid beforehand as far as I know.
