My workflow entails repetitive tasks that would be so much easier if I could set Leopard's (Safari's) default double-click functionality to select ALL text within the Google search box instead of having to use a triple-click. Does anyone know how to make this change to Leopard/Safari?
View 3 RepliesIf I click on a icon then i have to wait several seconds until i can klick again to rename (that takes also several seconds until i can rename it) it or something else. since some days my trackpad always wants to open the file if i click on it. the other mysterious thing is, when I plug in an usb-mouse (not magic mouse) and click on a link in the safari app with the middle-button of the mouse, my macbook air opens the link in a new tab twice, instead of one single time. if there somewhere is an option to reset all the option of the input devices?

Alright, so work bought me a new Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard. I had been used to using Leopard on my home machine and the iMac I was using before for work. In Leopard and older OS X's - you could double click the name of the window and it would minimize. Now with Snow Leopard...it doesn't work. Am I going crazy or is it hidden somewhere?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSomething must have changed with the last software update I did. The DMG files now open in Disk Utility instead of automatically mounting when I double-click. Not really a show-stopper as I can still mount thru D.U. but kind of annoying... I am on Leopard.

I had this problem before in Leopard (with different mouse) but now it seems the problem has returned with snow leopard. has anyone else had this problem? I checked the mouse properties and there's nothing strange there. I also don't have custom drivers installed. Just default snow leopard drivers.

Also, when you triple-click, it doesn't select all text within a sentence. Does anyone know what's wrong? I use BetterTouchTool. I tried restarting it - didn't change anything. I turned it off - didn't change anything. So I know that isn't the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know on my late-08 macbook pro (10.5.6), i can double click on a browser page to minimize. i was pretty sure i could do this on my late 07 macbook, but now following a hard drive replacement and Snow Leopard install, I can't minimize firefox or safari via double clicking on the top of the browser. like i said i was pretty sure i could do this before.. but the macbook pro has been mine for a while, so i don't know 100% if im dreaming that or not. i checked the preferences for both and i didn't see a setting to be clicked....so either it stopped working with snow leopard, or it never worked on the late-07 models.

If I set the double click speed to its maximum value (System Preferences -> Mouse) I can no longer open with double click folders that are on my desktop while it still works from the finder. I got the same thing from the mouse and from the trackpad. I have OS X 10.5.6.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to copy over a specific cross (✚) character from the Character Palette to Photoshop, but when I double-click the cross it imports as another character and changes the font type to Myriad Pro. I try to change the font back to Lucida Grande but it just stays on Myriad Pro. I've noticed this happens with a few characters. I've had prior success with characters like command (⌘) which initially shows up as another character, and then I just change the font to Lucida Grande and it shows up correctly. I'm used to being able to just do a regular copy and paste in Windows but can't seem to figure it out on a Mac. (For example, you can copy and paste those characters I included above.) Edit: I just noticed the layer name actually comes up as ✚ so I'm not sure why it's not showig up in the actual layer. Here's a screenshot of the contextual layer menu.

So when I double click the mouse on a web browser on the empty space (the space to the right of the red/yellow/green button, nothing happens. It also cannot select anything or drag anything. I have used several mice, no change. I have been having problems with my MacBook (Aluminum late 2008, I think, OS 10.5). It runs slowly; files on the desktop and in my "Macintosh HD" often won't open with double-click but have to be opened with File-->Open; there are Word Work Files that won't go away; the trackpad is often stiff and not very responsive; clicking on the mouse is very stiff, despite very easy settings. In short, a lot of things are sluggish. Sometimes, also, I get the spinning beach ball, but not all the time.
I have run disk permissons repair from Disk Utility many times (both from the desktop and from the MacBook install disk); I have replaced the directory with Disk Warrior at least twice; I have verified that the disk is OK; I have zapped the PRAM; and done other things of that kind.
I took the MacBook to an Apple Store yesterday. It had been unplugged and much to my surprise, most everything seemed to be working all right. When I opened it today, however, I found everything as it was before I took it to Apple. Including the Word Work files, which I thought were gone.
If I recall correctly, this started when I was working on a long editing project in Word, but I don't know whether that has anything to do with what has happened. I've done similarly long projects before, and this never happened.
I could try trashing the Word Work files (there seem also to be quite a lot of folders with "recovered" files), but I don't want to do that unless I can be assured that nothing bad will come from doing that.
I know this seems quite comprehensive, and may involve several issues, but I'm really unhappy about this and would love to think there is something more I can do, apart from returning to the Apple Store. Besides everything else, how can I khow that I won't find, again, that the MacBook will work fine there but goes back to its troubled state when I return?

I'm using a Magic Trackpad and can single click to switch between apps in the same Spaces desktop. But switching to apps on another Spaces desktop requires a double click. How can I change this to single click to switch regardless of Spaces desktop?

I've recently embarked on making a few keynote themes, but the problem i'm coming across is all my textboxes are locked when you're not in the master slide edit mode - in the themes that come with keynote you get these 'double click to edit' boxes that can be changed by the user, but I haven't found a way of making a normal locked text box behave in this way.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince we added 2 new Imacs to our network last week, anytime we double click on a file, it makes a copy...if you double click on the copy it opens up. If you drag file to the Quark icon, it opens OK, but you can only do 1 save, then you have to do Save as because you get "unexpected end of file encountered". We have a simple network that assigns IP addresses to those things on the network if that helps. Any ideas?? Oh yea, new imacs are running Leopard and we are still using Quark 6.5 on them...one has 7.1 loaded, but it has the same problems.

I've just finished installing Windows 7 32-bit on my Macbook which has 4 GB of RAM. But Right Click doesn't seem to work (except by using shift + F10), and double finger scroll doesn't work either. No Driver CD came with Windows 7. So, do I need to download a special driver to get these to work?
