View 2 RepliesI've tried two different mice and confirmed it's not the mouse. The interface will not acknowledge a double click for opening windows, etc.

I have a macpro 2008 Running Lion. Mouse stops responding to left click. Restart does not always solve. Have reset PRAM and installed a clean updated copy of Lion still regular problem

I can't left click in any apple apps in the main admin user. Other users no problem but problem too weird for me to track down
I CAN left-click in finder, system prefs, Safari, Pages, stickies and any and every thirt party app without a problem.
BUT, Mail, Contacts, Preview, Maps, Aperture, Notes, iCal, stickies I can scroll and right click but not select anything. Nor can I close or minimize windows.
CMD-P in an unresponsive app brings up the print dialog but can't choose any pdf options or any other options
Affected apps can be moved from the title bar but not resized , restarted multiple times, reset pram, trashed prefs of affected apps as well as bluetooth.

My workflow entails repetitive tasks that would be so much easier if I could set Leopard's (Safari's) default double-click functionality to select ALL text within the Google search box instead of having to use a triple-click. Does anyone know how to make this change to Leopard/Safari?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to dissassemble my wireless Mighty Mouse to clean it properly, as the trackball was unable to scroll up and down. As I had cleaned the trackball, I attached the two internal cables to their respective "slots" again and assembled the mouse.
Now my right button does the same as the left button (right click = left click). I tried dissassembling the mouse again, but I cannot see what I could have done wrong. After all, there are only two cables to attach and de-attach inside it.
I just bought a mighty mouse, happy as I was, plugged it in and started my ibook running OS X 10.3.9.I know the mighty mouse shouldn't have full functionality (as the software delivered with it is >10.4.2).The problem is that the right click doesn't work right. When I try to right click it sometimes takes the right click, sometimes takes it as a left click (which is extremely annoying in firefox or finder).
I have SteerMouse (I'm a windows/linux user too) installed but when I denstalled it the problem remained.
When I plugged the mighty mouse in my pc (at that time running windows) right click just worked. When using a cheap mouse (from pleomax) the right click on the ibook (with Steermouse installed) works all the time.
I find this al really confusing. Seems like it can't be the hardware because it works on windows, but it can't be the software because another mouse does work.
I noticed that when right clicking at the total right side near the "expose-button" (not a position my fingers lay naturally) right click works all the time. I don't hope this is normal?
I'll try and click on a link and nothing, then I click bookmrks in the menu bar, it works, then i can go back and be to click on the link and it'll work.

View 7 Replies View RelatedAlright, so back in September I bought a battery for my 15" pre-unibody MBP on Ebay, because I didn't want to spend too much more on this computer before I bought a new one, and I knew I could find a genuine one for cheaper than what apple charges.
I found one with three cycles on it, genuine and not a mark on it to suggest damage or a fake, and it's been working great for the past 54 cycles.
Until today. Last week, I left my MBP unused (sleeping) until today because I've been so busy and have just used my Mac Pro, and now I come back to my macbook and it has zero juice, so I plug it in and use it for a while, but notice it says "Not Charging" and "Condition: Replace Now". I take a look at iStat which tells me it has 51 cycles and 0% health, and "nan% Charged"...I restart, take out the battery, put it in, to no avail. The status light on the battery does not blink or come up when the button is pressed, and of course, the computer instantly turns off if the magsafe is disconnected (which is green, not red)
Could this just be a really nice looking fake, or can I do something to revive it?
:edit: I just did some googling to find a couple Apple support docs about the issue, but none helped. I've tried waiting (its been on an hour now) as well as resetting the SMC.
why are my numbers &the letter L not responding? Please help, Ive tried everything

2011 i7 Macbook Pro and have been using Lion since it came out. Only started having this problem in the past week.
Occasionally Finder will work. But most of the time it "crashes", or really just goes into a "Application Not Responding" state when I view it in activity monitor or right click the dock icon. Relaunching via force quit does nothing. Restarting sometimes fixes it but rarely and not for long.
Another thread suggested this string in terminal: rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist . It didn't work.

View 7 Replies View RelatedFor awhile now, my control key on my MBP 13" Mid 2010 hasn't been working. When I press the key, I get absolutely no response. I tried plugging in a keyboard to try it, and it worked on that external keyboard, but my computer's built in keyboard still wouldn't work. I've brought up the on-screen keyboard, and when I press done the control key, there is no change on screen.

I have a MacBook Pro. Sometimes my macbook might fall asleep while opened, and when I try to wake it up it doesn't respond.. I can see the backlight on the keyboard light up but the screen isn't responsive? My only solution when this happens, is to restart my MBP.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new 2.4 GHz MacBook with 2 gigs of RAM. and the keyboard response is very slow, especially the delete key. I type a word, and my fingers are faster than the display time. This is particularly noticeable when backspacing and correcting typos. anyone else experiencing this problem? Better yet, any ideas to improve response time? I'm almost missing my old Windows based machine.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a 2.0 Alu. MacBook and it was fine this morning everything was working, I decided I wanted to play CoD so I switched to my Windows side. Everything was working as well and then I decided I wanted to use Leopard again. Thats when I noticed I couldn't use my mousepad and the keyboard wasn't responding. A Mac "Genius" told me to reinstall Mac OS X through Bootcamp but how can I do that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe other day my battery died on me and after I had plugged it in and restarted, I was unable to enter in my password at the login screen because the keyboard and trackpad wouldn't respond. I tried repairing the disk and permissions but I still can't get past the login screen. I know I can always reinstall leopard but there are a few files I haven't had the chance to backup. Any way to get back those files before I reinstall?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI read a few posts and articles before i ordered my new i7 MBP with HR matte display about some of the models sometimees froze all of a sudden, now it seems mine has this same issue.. 3 time now, since i got it on the 25th of May. 15 min ago i was sitting and responding to a thread on Facebook, then out of the blue, everything stops repsonding. System is running, mouse is frozen, nothing i can do but to hit the "big button" and restart the entire system. Loosing any work that i might be doing is actually the worst scenario since im a photographer.. Anyone experience these random freeze ups too ? And last but not least, what will Apple do a about it when i contact them in the morning?.. Replace it or let me cancel my purchase and if replaced, how long does that normally take? (Bought it through Apple Store).
