Windows On Mac :: Can't Right Click In 7 Ugh
Jan 31, 2009
I'm not able to right click in any method I've tried. I installed the Windows 7 Build 7000 64 iso file. I'm using the unibody aluminum Macbook 2gig. This is my first Mac so please forgive me if I'm being an idiot. I installed the BootCamp64 from the OS X DVD without a problem but since I can't right click I wasn't able to install it as an admin. I also downloaded the newest version from apple directly. I tried following everything in this link : [URL] I can't use the two finger method as that just acts like a single finger. I can't use the control-click option as that does nothing. I've tried Shift-F10 and that does nothing. I even found a program written 3 years ago, [URL] let me do the control-click but I can't get the optino to run anything as an admin so it isn't a fully functional right click. Does anyone have a clue what I've done wrong? Oh and I am able to use a two finger movement on the trackpad to scroll up and down, so that part of the track pad is working after the boot camp64 ran. I'm also able to use all of the function keys.

How I can get tap to click working on a MacBook running Windows under boot camp! Every Windows laptop on the market has this functionality, and in OS X this also exists.

Last time I checked, it wasn't possible to Tap-Click when booting into Windows. If I were to get a Macbook I would solely use Windows on it, so I was wondering if this issue has been fixed in the unibody.

I'm currently using Logic and following an instructional .mov and going the the demos with and was wondering is there anyway I can keep the .mov window on top?
At the moment, when I click Logic the movie/quicktime window disappears behind Logic and I have to squeeze the mouse every time to get it back. I get that you can make the Logic window smaller, and have them side by side, though to have Logic fully open and click around in it whilst the quicktime movie is on top would be great.
To add, is there a way to actually keep any app on top when you click the background of another app?

bought an apple mouse and it won't connect, but reading on the forums the scroll click won't work anyways. and to be honest i wasn't happy about spending $75 on a mouse.
can i buy any windows mouse to run on it? i'd assume yes but want to verify. what i need is a mouse with the center scroll click to grab objects in pro/e to rotate them, which i can't do right now and its making things more difficult than it should. suggestions on mouses, or ones that you know do or don't work. does not matter if its wireless or wired. and if i can be picky preferably black.

I'm doing some research that requires me to remote in to a windows pc. I have no problems if I have my mouse...but I don't always have it.
I was wondering if there's a known easy way to right click under windows 2000.

I have just used Bootcamp to install Windows XP on my girlfriends new Macbook. It worked quite well but there seems to be one small problem. When the computer has been booted into Windows, then the next time OS X is started the "Tap to click" function is disabled. When I go into system settings to enable it, I see that the check-box next to "Tap to Click" is checked. So to make it work I have to remove the check-mark and the click it again - then it is enabled again.
How can Windows cause this? It has me a little worried that it can have such an effect. To my knowledge the two systems should be COMPLETELY isolated from each other so the only answer must be that Windows actually changes some setting inside the trackpad that is remembered during boot. That is, a setting in the actual firmware or something?

On OS X, the touchpad is perfect. I never accidentally tap click and mouse movements are perfectly smooth. On XP, the tap click is so sensitive that it's virtually unusable, and the touchpad has some responsiveness issues. Is anyone else having these problems, and is there a drivers fix? I'm using a 2.66ghz unibody MacBook Pro if that's relevant.

My imac core i7 arrive (it's great). However, the question I have is that when I double click (left) my my magic mouse (yes I enable the right/left click buttons). So when I double click the mouse on a web browser on the empty space (the space to the right of the red/yellow/green button, nothing happens. I want to send it to the bottom of the dock like in all of my previous mac. The double clicking of the mouse does nothing. Note: please don't confuse my simple question with the System Pref/Doc (minimize windows into application icon) situation. I know how to do that. I just want to minimize the current windows by double left clicking and sending it into the dock? How do I do that?

I recently purchased a MBP and am really enjoying using it. However I have a few issues that I have to get taken care of or I will prolly end up going back to windows.
First major issue is that I have to click twice on mostly everything. If im in a different window and want to click on a link in the browser I have to click twice.

Do you know if there is any way to have all my open windows available in the dock to move from one to other one with a single click? Though I liked the Expos per application feature, I would prefer having all my opened windows available in the same region they are minimized. On similar way, do you know if there is a way of having all the opened windows [instead of all the opened applications] available when doing COMMAND-TAB?

I've just finished installing Windows 7 32-bit on my Macbook which has 4 GB of RAM. But Right Click doesn't seem to work (except by using shift + F10), and double finger scroll doesn't work either. No Driver CD came with Windows 7. So, do I need to download a special driver to get these to work?

I'm using my 13" MBP for running Windows 7 right now. I'm in Excel 2007 and I'm unable to right click. When I right click the menu pops up with the options that are usually available once someone right clicks, but it disappears after a tenth of a second. Any idea what's causing this?

How do I enable a single tap to left click and a 2 finger tap for right click in Windows 7 bootcamp? I have already installed all the bootcamp drivers and I can use 2 finger scroll on the trackpad. I would just rather tap rather than have to click the button.

SHORT VERSION:
How can I have a one-click button in OS X to 'restart into bootcamp windows XP' ?
LONG VERSION:
I have bootcamp running windows XP on my mac pro.
Apple have made a simple button in Windows to 'restart in Mac OS X'. This is great and really fast to do. But for some reason, they forgot to do this in in OS X.
When I'm in OS X, if I want to restart into windows the , I have to do either of the following:
a.) Click the apple icon, click 'restart', click confirm 'restart', wait for the mac to shut down, wait around holding down the option key to bring up a startup disk menu, then when it appears, click the arrow below Windows.
b.) Click on 'system preferences' in the dock, then click on 'start up disk', then click on 'windows', then click on 'restart...', then confirm 'restart'.
I want a simple one-click 'restart in windows' button that I can click in OS X, just like the one-click 'restart in mac os x' button in windows.
No, I'm not interested in using VMware. I have it and use it in conjunction with everything else. Just a simple 'restart in Windows' button will do the trick.
No I'm not interested in any 'just use mac os x' responses. I'm forced to use both native windows and mac for work. A simple 'restart in windows' button will do the trick nicely.
Yes, I have tried using the automator to record an action, but apparently it insists on showing the mouse playing it all back... and all you can do is speed it up x 10, you can't turn the 'show mouse movements' option off, nor can you just make the automator workflow into a one-click button, since I can find no way to select 'automator runner' as the default application to run the workflow, and placing the workflow in the dock just opens it in the automator, so then you have to click 'play'. Just quite messy and unprofessional in front of clients. So, again, a simple one-click button in the dock will do the trick.
Hopely I have caught out most who will try to put this thread off course.
I'm amazed apple didn't think of this simple thing before- I suppose I shouldn't get surprised any more.

Before I formatted and reinstalled Lion on my MBP, I could select a window by tapping on its top bar and drag it using single finger on my trackpad. After reinstalling it, I am unable to do so. I have investigated the trackpad features in System Preferences, but it shows only the three-finger drag option. How do I get to select + drag a windown using single tap.

My workflow entails repetitive tasks that would be so much easier if I could set Leopard's (Safari's) default double-click functionality to select ALL text within the Google search box instead of having to use a triple-click. Does anyone know how to make this change to Leopard/Safari?

I had to dissassemble my wireless Mighty Mouse to clean it properly, as the trackball was unable to scroll up and down. As I had cleaned the trackball, I attached the two internal cables to their respective "slots" again and assembled the mouse.
Now my right button does the same as the left button (right click = left click). I tried dissassembling the mouse again, but I cannot see what I could have done wrong. After all, there are only two cables to attach and de-attach inside it.

I just bought a mighty mouse, happy as I was, plugged it in and started my ibook running OS X 10.3.9.I know the mighty mouse shouldn't have full functionality (as the software delivered with it is >10.4.2).The problem is that the right click doesn't work right. When I try to right click it sometimes takes the right click, sometimes takes it as a left click (which is extremely annoying in firefox or finder).
I have SteerMouse (I'm a windows/linux user too) installed but when I denstalled it the problem remained.
When I plugged the mighty mouse in my pc (at that time running windows) right click just worked. When using a cheap mouse (from pleomax) the right click on the ibook (with Steermouse installed) works all the time.
I find this al really confusing. Seems like it can't be the hardware because it works on windows, but it can't be the software because another mouse does work.
I noticed that when right clicking at the total right side near the "expose-button" (not a position my fingers lay naturally) right click works all the time. I don't hope this is normal?

I updated to 10.6.1 last night...ever since then, I've noticed that tap-to-click seems to be much less responsive, if that makes sense. I guess it seems less sensitive, in that before it never "missed" a click when I tapped my finger anywhere on the trackpad. Now it seems like I'm tapping 2-3 times to get it to recognize. Has anyone else noticed this? There is no where to adjust the sensitivity, and since I am a big use of this feature I'm finding it really, really annoying.
