Everytime I pop in my USB drive, iPhoto opens.. (of course, because it wants to import pictures. Which might not be what I want to do)Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
View 2 RepliesSuddenly everytime I open Safari, it opens along with a new desktop. So I can't put an application on top of it since the app would appear on the first desktop, get what I mean? So I can't chat with iChat while watching youtube, for example. How to open Safari on the first desktop instead?

This just started in the last week or two, but my itunes will be completely closed, and suddenly it opens and play a certain mp3 file, then the next then one more. This isn't any particular playlist or anything. The files are probably all in my download folder and it just goes in order. This happens many times per day. Often times my computer was actually asleep and it wakes it to play these files.
Looking at my console log, I get the following two things right when it happens.

So I'm assuming whatever is happening has to do with these log items. How to stop this? It's very bothersome when I'm in the middle of a business call, etc. I need to keep my MBP volume up as well because I have various alerts I need to hear.

My iChat is automatically opening up on startup when I turn on my computer. I do not have the "Open at Login" optiona checked so I know it isn't that. Every time I turn on my computer, iChat opens and logs on and says I'm logged in at 2 different locations even though I know that I am not. I hit 1 to log off the other locations anyways.

I suddenly cannot access the several thousand photos in my iPhoto Library. I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete. I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

So lately I've had this issue when I restart my computer: iPhoto starts up and lags the initial start up of my laptop any time I power up. Not sure if this is a re-post, but i've searched everywhere and haven't found an answer on any post. I do run parallels on my laptop, and when iPhoto starts up on a restart it shows it being connected to my Windows HD. I tried renaming any "image" folder within the HD to a different name - no luck! I have no other external USB devices plugged in. I do not have it set to open at login on the dock, nor is it on my "Login Items".

Starting a few days ago when I double click a folder on the desktop it no longer opens. Instead, I am taken to a new desktop window that shows the folder clicked plus all other items on the desktop. View 4 Replies View RelatedFor a long time my mac had around 10 GB of space left. Then, two nights ago, I got a notice that said my startup disk was full. I deleted some stuff, a bunch of movies that I didn't know existed, and I had 30 GB of space yesterday. But now, this morning, there is only 10 MB of space left! I think it may have something to do with a file called hfamily1.dmg, which took up 10 GB of space and I couldn't delete it, but I just left it there. But even that wouldn't take up all that room! I've always been connected to the internet, and I've always had an external drive plugged in. I'm running DiskInventoryX right now, but if this problem keeps happening.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my late model Penryn MBP from the stock Hitachi 200GB 5400rpm drive to a Seagate 500GB 7200rpm drive. Performance wise, I'm happy. XBench is indicating a significant gain on the disk test (especially in the sequential test) and I loved being able to use Quicksilver almost as soon as I saw the menubar. However, when I turned on the machine, it did not recognize the drive automatically, and I had to hold down the Option key in order to get it to boot from the disk. I cloned my old HD using CarbonCopy Cloner. Once I did that everything was (obviously) fine. How can I get the MBP to recognize my new disk as the default boot volume?

I need some software that would automatically backup/sync my USB drive when I place it in the mac at home each day. There seem to be a number of options available for windows, but I can't seem to find anything for the mac, all I keep coming across is ways to backup the mac to a USB drive! Preferably I would like it to automatically backup the drive each time I insert it, so I don't have to manually do it each day.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect a USB drive, it shows up on my desktop, but Finder won't find anything on it because it doesn't get indexed. I'm running OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a) on an iMac G5 with a PowerPC G5 (3.0) processor. The drive in question is NTFS, but it also seems like the Mac doesn't index FAT-formatted USB drives if they were formatted on a PC. Is there any way that automatic indexing could have been turned off? I think the department that had this system before we got it would have turned that off if possible, and I'd like to find out how to turn it back on?
