OS X Mavericks :: Email Opens Wider Than Display
Jun 27, 2014When I open some, maybe a tenth of my incoming emails, they open in window much wider than my display, like twice display width. Probably happens on mail sent from Windows machines. No other time, in no other application, does anything display beyond normal screen width.
I have to scroll WAY OUT right to for example get to the reply button.
In Firefox or Chrome. My normal email is gmail. This is not in Apple Mail. This happens in Firefox or Chrome receiving in gmail.

Instead, I am taken to a new desktop window that shows the folder clicked plus all other items on the desktop. How do I restore the double click to open the folder? Jul 1, 2014When I have a folder open, say downloads, in a list view, and I delete a file, the scroll bar will automatically jump to the top of the list. It's absolutely non-sensical. One of the most annoying things ever when your trying to organize a long list of files. Happens in 10.8.5 and in Mavericks on two separate computers. It's worse in 10.8.5 as sometimes it will glitch out and do it even when I am scrolling down the list. . Kind of thing that makes you want to switch to windows.
How do I turn this off?

Mar 2, 2012I am using Word for Mac on my Macbook Pro with Lion. Everytime I open a particular document in Word, the view shows Markups, which is really distracting. I can go to View, and get rid of the markup view, but then it shows up again each time I open the document.
Also, each time I open Word, every document I have worked on in the last few months opens, too. I close each document individually, using File - Close, which I thought would take care of it. But it doesn't, and all these documents open, instead of just the one document I want open.

What I'm noticing now is that when I open a document in Preview, it also opens the last doc I viewed at the same time..If I wanted to see the old doc I would've double clicked it.I use Preview all the time.There is no Preference to disable this strange behavoir.

ITunes :: Opens And Plays Certain MP3 Files Automatically
Feb 3, 2012This just started in the last week or two, but my itunes will be completely closed, and suddenly it opens and play a certain mp3 file, then the next then one more. This isn't any particular playlist or anything. The files are probably all in my download folder and it just goes in order. This happens many times per day. Often times my computer was actually asleep and it wakes it to play these files.
Looking at my console log, I get the following two things right when it happens.

So I'm assuming whatever is happening has to do with these log items. How to stop this? It's very bothersome when I'm in the middle of a business call, etc. I need to keep my MBP volume up as well because I have various alerts I need to hear.

May 7, 2009My iChat is automatically opening up on startup when I turn on my computer. I do not have the "Open at Login" optiona checked so I know it isn't that. Every time I turn on my computer, iChat opens and logs on and says I'm logged in at 2 different locations even though I know that I am not. I hit 1 to log off the other locations anyways.

OS X Mavericks :: Application Fails To Load When Clicking On File In Finder Or Attachment In Email
Aug 26, 2014I have a problem that when selecting a file that is either an attachment in email or is in my finder, double clicking on it fails to load the associated application successfully. For example, selecting a pdf file results in the pdf reader logo appearing on the lower bar on the screen, bounces up and down as if it is doing something, but just continues to bounce. I have to force quit it, then go to my application folder to load reader directly, and from within the reader I can then go and select the file. This isn't an application specific issue (It does it with Excel, Word etc).
It only started recently. I'm using a MBP summer 2010 with Mavericks 10.9.4. Everything else seems to work.

Apr 14, 2012This happens when I'm using something other than email or Word, for example, Excel or the internet. When I want to go back to my email, I will click on the email icon on the dock, but instead of popping up my email, one of my open Word docs will appear. Then I click on the email icon again, and the right thing comes up.
I've run software update and I'm not sure what else to do. It's making me nuts. Sometimes, I might be using Safari and have just taken a screen snap or copied a link and I want to flip over to my email to send it to someone or whatever, and it shows me a paper I'm writing for school or something instead. It's dumb but annoying.
