Why does Safari open with the last page viewed from the previous session rather than my homepage? The only way I can get Safari to open to my homepage when starting a new session is to be sure to close all windows from the previous session before quitting Safari. If I don't go through this process, Safari opens to the last site I accessed before quitting.
Whenever I launch Pages, the application opens pretty much all the documents I've worked on. I take care to close all the windows, hoping that they won't launch again next time I start the application, yet they do. I can't find a setting in the preferences or Settings to disable this behavior.Â

Is there a way to prevent Safari from opening all your previous tabs and windows? When I close Safari I just want everything to close as well, but when I open it later everything else opens again.
Suddenly everytime I open Safari, it opens along with a new desktop. So I can't put an application on top of it since the app would appear on the first desktop, get what I mean? So I can't chat with iChat while watching youtube, for example. How to open Safari on the first desktop instead?
I was unable to close safari and did the force quit and shut down my laptop. now everytime i open safari it opens multiple pages that i can onlt close all of them by selecting quit safari, and my pages don't always load right now.
I recently updated to Lion. So far the only thing that really annoys me is that every time I open Safari it opens to the last page(s) I visited. I want it to open to a blank page. For the life of me - I cannot figure out how to get it to do this.
When I close Safari by clicking the red dot and then re-open Safari none of my tabs re-open. How do I get Safari to open all my tabs from the last session?
Every time I open Safari a little box opens and says:Â
Community ToolbarÂ
We’re sorry, but the Safari browser version you are currently using does not support the community toolbar. How can I make this box stop coming up since I don't even know what it is. Can it be deleted?
I keep having pages suddenly minimize when I didn't tell it too. This happens most frequently in Safari but also with Excel, Word and anything else I have open. Also, when I'm scrolling down a page, suddenly the page behind it will show up. It isn't because I accidentally scrolled over there. Maybe these little glitches need to be handled by the Genius Bar at an Apple Store. I'd like to avoid that, if possible.

Usually Safari opens all previous windows upon startup, but not always. Today was one of those days. I last used DataBackup yesterday, but I'm not sure how to access the proper file to restore the missing window. I'm using v5.1.5

When I'm on Facebook or any other site that people post links:Â I click on the link, a new Safari window opens, and after 15-20 seconds I get a "failed to open page" prompt that states:Â
"Safari can't open the page (link) because the server where this page is located isn't responding".Â
And yet, if I copy and paste the link to a new window it opens just fine.Â
Why can't a link within another site open? Safari 5.1.3 Mac OS 10.7.3
I have been using Safari for a few years now, and the only problem I have with it is that I have never been able to have more than one page open at a time. On any PC, I have been using internet explorer and can have, for instance, an internet radio station playing as welll as being able to surf other pages without losing the radio station. On Safari, as soon as I have the radio station playing, if I then want to look at other pages, the radio station web-page has automatically switched itself off. I am sure it is just something to do with the settings, but I don't seem able to fathom out what settings I need to change.
When I start up Safari it opens 2-3 pages of previously viewed sites. I just started using Lion 10.7.3 on a new 17" iMac. This never happened before on Snow Leopard.
Starting about a month ago Safari doesn't open website pdfs. It goes to a new tab/window and returns a black screen. My system is up to date with the latest updates for Apple products as well as for Adobe products. Is anyone else having this issue or know a solution. If I use Firefox it opens the pdf so I have to assume it is something with Safari.
I would love it if my downloads simply opened using their respective programs (e.g word documents, powerpoint slides, PDFs, etc) after they completely finished downloading in Safari.
I began to have this same problem on my old MacBook within the last year...but I now have a brand spanking new MacBook Air (as in 1 week old) and it's worse than ever. Â
Extremely often - sometimes 2 out of 3 webpages, it seems - the browzer says it can't find the server or otherwise won't open a page (takes veeeery long to do so. Then eventually gives me a "can't find" screen when I try to click around.). There's nothing wrong w the internet - it works just fine on my husband's computer. Sometimes it helps to switch browzers but mostly not.

I have a 13" Retina MacBook Pro running Mavericks., Safari suddenly will open ONLY Google-related pages (e.g., gmail and google maps). All other websites I try result in the gray page that says, "Safari can't find the server."Â
when I turned on my MBP, the wireless connection would not connect to my home network. That was temporary--it eventually connected to the network, but then even though it was connected to the network, it could not access the internet connection. All of that then resolved itself (I reset modem and router) and those connections resumed functionality. But then I could not access any web pages, as per my comment above, EXCEPT for Google-related pages.Â
Steps I have already taken in attempt to resolve:booted in safe modecleared Safari cacheRemoved all website dataunder Proxies on Preferences -> Advanced tab, selected Auto Proxy Discoveryunchecked and re-checked the Fraudulent sites warning check box on Preferences -> Security tabÂ
Does it have something to do with the Google Safe Browsing Service? Seems so odd that ONLY Google pages will load..
Every time I open a document in word, the elements gallery automatically opens. I don't use this feature. Anyone know how to turn it off? I tried finding a way in preferences but didn't see anything.
Well this is a truly annoying "feature" in Lion. I just upgraded from Snow Leopard. Every time I open Safari, windows open from a previous session.
I've searched Safari's preferences and can't find anything to disable this. Even emptied cache. No luck. Same is true with certain other apps.Â
This is not good, for the obvious reasons. Is there any way to disable this? I know about logging in and out, seperate accounts, private browsing, but this is crazy as it requires MORE work not less. Whatever happened to keeping it simple?Â
