View 3 RepliesI've got an issue with iPhoto. Whenever I open it, a window opens asking if I want iPhoto to open every time I attach a digital camera, then the rest of iPhoto opens and the application freezes, and I am unable to click anything.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLate this morning on my iMac 24" with 10.6.2 it didn't matter whether I was using Safari or Foxfire the would both freeze and I get the maddening beach ball and have to force quit. Any ideas why this would suddenly start happening? I haven't done any thing special to the iMac as far as memory or anything. My laptop isn't doing it, just the iMac.

View 6 Replies View RelatedEvery time I hit the slideshow button on iPhoto '09, I get the spinning rainbow wheel and then the app will eventually crash. This is very frustrating. Is anyone else having this problem with the new iLife version as well? Can you test for me using a large photo album that this might be happening to other users too? I refuse to believe that my MBP can't handle it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I just put a new WD 750GB HD into my 2006 white Macbook. (Core Duo 2.0 Gigahertz, 2 GB RAM, 10.4.11 OS X). Everything seems to be working fine, but for some reason iPhoto crashes incessantly. I tried rebuilding the iPhoto library and while it can rebuild the thumbnails, when it gets to rebuilding the actual library it crashes. I can't get anything off of my iPhone. What's the deal?(iPhoto 6.0.6)
PS Trying to reinstall iPhoto as I type this.
My wife's computer (PowerBook G4) won't load iPhoto. It gets to the "loading photos" screen, then promptly crashes. I have run permission repair but everything was perfect

View 8 Replies View RelatedStarting this morning I am being driven crazy by the Character Pallett launching unexpectedly on its own and then crashing almost immediately. Then it attempts to launch again, flashes briefly on screen, and crashes again. My crash log shows the same repeated process.[Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalI nconsistencyException', reason: 'Invalid parameter not satisfying: (index >= 0) && (index < [_itemArray count])'] It's pretty impossible to get anything done. I tried reinstalling OSX combo 1.6.8, but the installer would not see my startup drive as being eligable; I then reinstalled Snow Leopard 10.6 and attempted to update to 10.6.8 that way. But this attempt lead to an error that cancled the install. So now I am running 10,6, but with many apps that require 10.6.8. And the Character Pallett keeps poping up and then crashing even with 10.6. I'm beginning to think it may be a hardware problem, either ram or logic board issue; but I lack the diagnostic skills to figure it out. I thought of trying to launch the Character Pallett on purpose, but when I open the System Preferences and click the box that would place the Keybaord icon in the menu bar (which is the only way I know to get to the Character Pallett) the icon doesn't appear. The check mark doesn't even stick.

I am looking for an application that will be able to do a backup of my photos to my external hard drive (160GB).
My iPhoto library is currently just under 38GB. I would like to be able to plug in my external drive to my macbook about once a month and run some kind of application to backup my whole iPhoto library to the external...
Oh and I would really like it to be a GUI, I don't really like working in terminal.
Does anything like this exist?
Everytime I pop in my USB drive, iPhoto opens.. (of course, because it wants to import pictures. Which might not be what I want to do)Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

So lately I've had this issue when I restart my computer: iPhoto starts up and lags the initial start up of my laptop any time I power up. Not sure if this is a re-post, but i've searched everywhere and haven't found an answer on any post. I do run parallels on my laptop, and when iPhoto starts up on a restart it shows it being connected to my Windows HD. I tried renaming any "image" folder within the HD to a different name - no luck! I have no other external USB devices plugged in. I do not have it set to open at login on the dock, nor is it on my "Login Items".

My external memory card reader is temperamental and one day while importing its contents into iPhoto, it ejected itself. I got the warning about not safely ejecting my memory card and thought everything would be ok since that happened before and nothing too bad came from it. Only this time, iPhoto crashes regularly as it's searching for this one file--a .mov--that was on the ejected memory card. It searches for this file every time the app loads, and immediately after I try uploading a new batch of photos. The message I get is "The volume for "file name" cannot be found. Insert the disk or connect to the server volume..." The crash entails beachball, fans going crazy, and the app freezes so must force quit.
I deleted the entry in the iPhoto library (in Finder) but it didn't help. I tried uploading a backup copy of that same file back into the iPhoto library. I've also tried inserting the original memory card with the file on it and nothing helps. What can I do? Version of iPhoto is 6.06.
i'm having some old school os 8/9 crashes -- everything just freezes up. no kernal panic screen, i can't move the mouse, the keyboard doesn't even respond so i can't apple-ctrl-pwr to reboot, i have to hold down the power button to shut it off.
this is the second time it has happened in the past 2 weeks. any ideas?
My iMac randomly freezes and crashes on me. Most of the freezes occur when scrolling with my trackpad on websites with Google Chrome. I get the pinwheel and have to use the power button to turn off and on the iMac. I haven't noticed any particular connection to Flash websites or video related sites. It just seems kind of random. I've also been careful to have absolutely nothing else running and it still does not prevent it. Â
Also, from time to time the iMac will crash and go to a solid color screen. Either Blue-Gray, White or Black. It seems to be random colors. When this happens, I have to use the power button to cycle it off and back on again.Â

just recently on my mac pro any simple task causes the finder to freeze or crash, it then relaunches itself but with no menu bar and zero functionality. disk repair says disk ok, permissions repair complete, also tried trashing the finder preference file,and starting again.but to no resolution of problem.this morning though i got a crash report (first time) this is a screen shot from the first few lines, you may need to zoom in to read it properly.

I have a 2006 imac (1GB memory) with tiger that had been having some issues last year with crashing so I ended up and installing snow leopard and it worked great for about a year and now its acting up again. It freezes at least 2 times a day and I can't open the force quit window so I shut it off manually, but when I turn it back on it has these weird lines on it like a line of pixels got corrupted or something, but sometimes they go away. I save everything to an external drive so I don't think it has to do with it being overloaded. I did notice it mostly happens when I'm multitasking (more than one tab open, or word and firefox open at the same time) or watching a movie. Occasionally it will crash and the screen goes a peach color with white lines and I have to manually restart.  Â

I have an old macbook, its about 5 years old, one of the first aluminum models.
It has always served me well but now it has broken.
When I try and start it up it shows the grey loading screen, I see the little stripes rotating, to show that something is loading and then... it turns off.
My iMAC running latest Lion OS is crashing or freezes permanently. Several reboots are necessary a day. I Never had problem with Snow Leopard. Checked hardware with diagnostic disc, all OK, so I wanted to re-install Lion from scratch while keeping my data. How shall I proceed? Back-up available via time machine.

well my computer has been crashing a lot recently (i noticed it seems to be mostly while safari and itunes are running at the same time but i have no idea if this is the cause of the problem or just a coincidence). I read one thing that told me to check my system logs, so i did and the only thing that i found weird that was around the time i crashed was this, but i have no idea what it means.

I have a 2010 15" Macbook pro and I was wondering what information do I need to know to be able to upgrade from 4GB - 8GB. My macbook pro sometimes freezes, I did a clean install of OS X Lion two days ago, and now I am still having some crashes and freezes, I was just wondering if I need to add an extra ram. I have a problem with my iMac 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (2 GB 667 MHz DDR 2 SDRAM), running OSX 10.6.5. OSX crashes and freezes all the time. Nothing works anymore. Sometimes it just freezes, and I can only move my cursor, but nothing reacts anymore. Sometimes the screen blacks (or sometimes blanks) out or shows the weird moving colours as shown on the photo I just took below: After restart, it often happens again and again. Then the iMac is fine for a couple of days, before it freezes again. Can anyone diagnose the problem from the info above?
