OS X V10.3 :: Automatically Open The Downloaded Photos In IPhoto?
May 21, 2012
When I download a photo from the internet it automatically opens in preview. On my old MAC it automatically opened in iPhoto. How do I get me new MacBook Air to automatically open the downloaded photos in iPhoto??
I'm using iCloud and popped a couple of images I'd just processed into iPhoto on my iMac.
Went to my MBP so I could upload the images to my website - they appeared in iPhoto in very quick time (impressive) but I needed to locate them in "finder" so I could upload them but had the devil of a time finding them, and still haven't.
I used to use dropbox for this - maybe I'll go back. It was so easy!

If I download a torrent in firefox vuze automatically opens (because that's what I have set it to do under the application tab in preferences). But I'm using safari, as my primary browser, and I would like for safari to associate torrents with vuze/transmission in the same way.
When I download a torrent from, say, mininova the torrent is downloaded to my downloads folder and is visible in the safari download window (with the azureus icon) - but I manually have to open the torrent for vuze to start downloading. So the torrent is associated to vuze, but it doesn't automatically start downloading.
I suddenly cannot access the several thousand photos in my iPhoto Library. I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete. I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

"There is a problem accessing one or more files in your iPhoto library. Do you want iPhoto to repair permissions for this library for you?" and it gives me the following options "quite" or repair"
i have returned all my photos into the new iphoto 9.1.However they aren't displayed the way they used to be. The computer is ignoring all the dates i entered on the individual film rolls and displaying them with date that's embedded on the digital images. An example is i have a film roll which contains photos of my cat Salem which range from 2004 to 2012. This 'folder' used to be displayed at the bottom of all the film rolls as i had it dated 12/25/2020 so i knew where it was and could add to it easily. Now though it's near the top lumped together with 2004 photos dated 2004-2012.How do i get iPhoto to display my photo film rolls the way they were on iphoto 6?I would go back to running TIiger and the apps that came with it including iPhoto 06 but i need snow leopard as i have bought two new Lacie 2 TB drives for storage and they need a newer operating system.

Forcing preview to see downloaded pdf's automatically. Safari downloads these but preview doesn't open it unless forced. My other MB air downloads them and automatically opens them in th media viewer of Safari.
When I download file in Safari they are deleted automatically. The message I get is: "deleted because it contained a virus". I have uninstalled and installed Safari a couple of times - to no avail. I have no trouble in other navigators.
when viewing photos in iPhoto "Library>Photos", by default, each event is expanded (i.e., triangles are down, and all photos are visible). Is there a single command or keyboard shortcut that will collapse all the individual photos into headers only?
I have imported photos from my digital camera to my iPhoto and when I try to view them, I just see a gray box with an exclamation point? How can I fix this so my photos will show up? It has always worked correctly in the past.
I have experienced a problem after I updated to SL last night.I made a fresh install of both SL and iLife 09 on my mbp unibody late 2008.
Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?
I burned photos to a CD-R and the CD-R automatically ejected. The photos are now on the CD-R. Now I keep getting an error message that says to complete the burn before I can quit iPhoto. I can not shut down the computer until iphoto shuts down.
I had around 300 photos on my iMac, (running OS X Mavericks), and whenever they I open them, or sometimes on random, they will duplicate themselves. I started with 300 original photos and by the end of 3 month, i had 5000 photos!!!! I have taken my computer to the Genius Bar 3 times and they have tried, but had no luck in fixing this image-duplicating bug. Last month, I painstakingly deleted all of the duplicates manually (as duplicate "finders" only found around 60 duplicates) and then though that they wouldn't duplicate anymore. Now, one wonth later, I have 2496 photos!!!!!!!! These photos are not in iPhoto.
I am a new Mac user (had my macbook for 2 weeks, loving it, but still learning how to use it). I am really annoyed by Preview app. Anytime I save a photo in my Download folder, it automatically opens it with Preview, whether I want it or not. When I quit Preview, it still opens the next time I download a photo. I can't find anywhere in Preview options such option to disconnect automatic opening of photos. How do I turn it off please?
I cannot open my iphoto because i am constantly receiving the message "the application quit unexpectedly" I have tried everything!!!!first & foremost I have archived & installed osx already 2 times.I have tried holding down the options key and building a new library..doesnt work.I have typed in fsck -fy and rebooted and rebuilt disk permissions.i cant seem to find the file .com.apple.iphoto etc its not in my preference folders to erase it
Everytime I pop in my USB drive, iPhoto opens.. (of course, because it wants to import pictures. Which might not be what I want to do)Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
I am using a macbook pro. Normally the device shown on iphoto sidebar (below trash) will gone after i eject my iphone. But recently, the iPhoto cannot unmount the devide automatically. I have to either restart my mac or manually right click on the device to dismount it.
it used to do this, but now any video that I take with my iPhone 5S does not automatically sync with iPhoto like the photos do. How do I get my videos off my phone and onto my MacBook Air?
I have an extensive photo collection, around 50k images, mostly 3-5MB JPGs and around 1k 10MB+ RAWs. I have once tried to start managing them in iPhoto and attempted to import it on an old MacBook Pro with 2GB RAM. It was about 2 yrs ago on an old version of iLife. The performance was very bad - everything was extremely slow and I abandoned an idea at that time. Now I have MacPro with fast HDD and 10GB RAM and was wondering if I should try this again using iPhoto 09? Doe anyone manage that many images using iPhoto here? How is the experience?
I have a lot of photos from a recent trip on my computer that are in iPhoto. I want to share these with my Dad and want to know how to burn them onto a DVD so he can load them onto his iMac. What is the best way to do this?
