simple question, i hope its a simple answer....
when i download a music file from an internet page (safari) it automatically opens itunes and plays, i want this to stop...
This just started in the last week or two, but my itunes will be completely closed, and suddenly it opens and play a certain mp3 file, then the next then one more. This isn't any particular playlist or anything. The files are probably all in my download folder and it just goes in order. This happens many times per day. Often times my computer was actually asleep and it wakes it to play these files.
Looking at my console log, I get the following two things right when it happens.

So I'm assuming whatever is happening has to do with these log items. How to stop this? It's very bothersome when I'm in the middle of a business call, etc. I need to keep my MBP volume up as well because I have various alerts I need to hear.

When I open Safari 5.1.5, it automatically opens all the pages from my previous session. Can I turn off that feature , and how?

This has happened for a few months now, ever since I upgraded to iTunes 8 I believe, and now that I'm using iTunes more often it's starting to get annoying. I will play an album in iTunes. Once the album finishes, instead of stopping playback, iTunes will play an apparently random song from my library (though each album seems to be linked to a different song, which changes every now and then. I've been unable to find any pattern). Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have any ideas? I don't think this is just a problem for me - it happens to some friends who have iTunes as well. I've searched on Google and on this forum and couldn't find any solutions.

So I can't put an application on top of it since the app would appear on the first desktop, get what I mean? So I can't chat with iChat while watching youtube, for example. How to open Safari on the first desktop instead?

When a video track begins, the iTunes window comes up, even if I've got iTunes hidden. (Note: it doesn't bring the iTunes application to the foreground; it just shows the iTunes window behind my current window.)Â
Clearly, this is not the behavior I want when it's _hidden_! ...But I can't find any way to stop this behavior
P.S. This is iTunes version 10.6.1(7) on OS 10.7.4. Also, I'm running SizzlingKeys 3.3.5, if that matters (there doesn't seem to be a preference in this app to control window behavior...).
I use safari and I was trying to open a PDF file on my schools website. When the page came up (still in safari) it was blank. Why? I haven't changed anything that I know of.

It all worked fine for a while but now if I want to listen to the video it will not automatically play when I just play the entire library or when i just play a playlist with it in the homemade video does not play as part of the list, video's from itunes do but simply not this one.Â

Is it possible to use this info in iTunes to add a column to automatically sort the music? Is there a hidden terminal command to add this option to the iTunes view options? This just recently started and I haven't made any hardware/software changes at all, last thing I did was update it for printer drivers and that was it. It usually plays at night when I'm sleeping and it starts with the song that's on the top of the list. I've restarted it and everything and can't figure it out. I always leave iTunes running because I have my iPad and iPhones set up for wireless syncing. So I usually just keep the sound off to prevent any random music playing. Oh and there is no remotes connected to it either....

I have a Macbook about 2 years old. I was running 10.7.3. Today it started to play random music I've never heard quietly in the background even if I turned it off and upplugged everything. A buddy said to update to 10.7.4 to fix the "bug". I did and the music stopped about a 1/2 hour. Then started up again. Â

I have transferred my itunes music on to my external HD. The music is there and that is fine. I then deleted the old itunes folder from my actual HD. I have now wanted to access the music on the external HD, and have attempted to select the new music file location on the external HD via the itunes/preferences/advanced window,selected the new file path and it will just not show in itunes!
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a mac air version 10.9.3 running on mavericks and whenever I plug in my apple earphones, or any earphones with a mic and remote on the cable, itunes starts playing music without me touching anything. It plays music every time the contact plug of the earphones moves in the computer (like if I move the computer and the jack plug gets jiggled) and I don't know how to keep it from doing that. I tried quitting itunes but it didn't work.

Like it says above I'm using a 2.4GHz macbook with 2Gb of RAM bought in 2007. Starting about 2 weeks ago, I find that when i'm using speakers or headphones (ie: NOT the in-built speakers) that there is faint techno music playing the background. I do like techno music but it's no song that I recognize from my library, and it seems to be about a 10 second loop. It was first one song, then i restarted my computer and it was ok for about a week and now it's back with a DIFFERENT loop (still electronic?) Has anyone ever come across anything like this before? It has nothing to do with the volume of the speakers/headphones. They still go loud and I can still hear what i'm actually watching/listening to just fine, but then there's this techno off in the distance. OR if i'm not listening/watching anything and turn the volume up all the way on either the speakers or headphones i'm able to hear the music relatively clearly but it still sounds muddled and far off. Any advice would be awesome.

My iChat is automatically opening up on startup when I turn on my computer. I do not have the "Open at Login" optiona checked so I know it isn't that. Every time I turn on my computer, iChat opens and logs on and says I'm logged in at 2 different locations even though I know that I am not. I hit 1 to log off the other locations anyways.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Lacie external hard disk that was originally formatted for PCs. I have some files there, but more importantly, my iTunes library is saved directly on the Lacie (I have everything on apple lossless, so they are some big files). I will keep using this PC while connected to the Lacie hard disk to syncro my iPod.
The problem is that I bought a mac now and I wanted the Lacie hard disk to be able to transfer files from mac to pc and vice versa. I have already read that I would have to copy the files that are on the Lacie, reformat the Lacie and then paste the files back. My only doubt is that if I do this reformatting, will I have any problems using the iTunes library while connected to my pc and iPod?
I just ask that because every time I changed any iTunes library folder on the computer, the iTunes would say that the music file couldn�t be found and ask me if I wanted to look for the file. I didn�t want to reformat the Lacie to later find out that I would have to �look for� every single music file, because that would be nearly impossible. I don�t know if I was able to make my question really clear�
Every time I open a document in word, the elements gallery automatically opens. I don't use this feature. Anyone know how to turn it off? I tried finding a way in preferences but didn't see anything.

Before moving to a new Mac I backed up my old itunes music library.xml file and manually added all of my music files to itunes on my new mac.Â
Does anybody know a way of getting my old information such as ratings, number of plays etc from the old library into the new one?

-Also own a iMac which has a new 1TB hard drive I put in there. This machine is not upgradable to Lion. Connected to this iMac is a 1TB external back up drive which backs up this iMac. Â
I have right now about 75GB of music in my iTunes right now (on MacBookPro), plus about 600 Cds to be ripped and imported at some point. I am considering using Amazon Music Cloud or iTunes Match at some point but....I may will still want to have a backup of my music anyway? and it may be I may not like playing music off of clouds? (because it relies on my intenert connection....)Â
So if I was to store my music collection.....should it be on:Â -The old iMac; use it as a jukebox? Can I control the iMac and its iTunes from new laptop? (iMac is 10.4.8 which may have sharing limits?)-Is this practical? Â
-Are there external hard drives out there that wake up fast and put music there? (in the past, loading the library takes longer when having the music on external hard drive). Â
Overall, I live in a small place so I dont necessarily want to fill up my space with mutliple computers. I almost wish I didnt have the old machines, it would simplify my decisions!Â

I let itunes organize my library on my imac drive
yesterday i downloaded itunes/quicktime updates, restarted. today i went to play music and got the (!) icon on all of my music. i did a spotlight search for songs/artists, returned no results... where did my music go? 6k songs are missing!
I didn't delete my music, I checked my trash, which hasn't been emptied in a few days. the last time i listened to music with itunes was yesterday.
Ok so yesterday I logged into my account on my computer and clicked itunes to open it. Instead of going to my library it said It cannot find my music library and told me to locate it. I clicked "Locate" and it went to my finder. We have had an external drive for the the past 6 months and I had been storing all my itunes on the external drive AND on the normal hard drive. So when I clicked the locate button, I chose the itunes library in my external library. Now my library is setup like it was about 2 years ago, complete with ipod nano games, playlist, and songs I have deleted. when I click a song to play it says "Cannot locate file." If i go into the finder and find the normal hard drive, and go into itunes media, I can double click the songs and play the songs in itunes. So I have no idea why all this happened but Is the only way to get all my songs back, to delete all the songs that cannot be l0 located and drag my whole library thats stored on my normal hard drive into itunes?
