i'm not new to computers, i just woke up, booted my mac... next thing you know my mail app just isn't opening and i have to force quit to close it.there's nothing else to say really, could i delete it and install it again?
View 5 RepliesMail 4.5 started to get wonky a couple of days ago- taking forever to load. All of the the imap server began rejecting my password which had not changed for months. So I retyped it. Nothing. Quite mail and restarted mail. Nothing. Deleted the account, restarted & reloaded. Nothing. Restarted the machine. Launched Mail, nothing. Check for updates, nothing. Can login directly to iCloud and works fine on my iOS devices but nothing on good ole' mail.

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).

I am trying to set Apple Mail as my default mail application, but invariably, when I try to send an email from another program, it opens Outlook instead.
How can I make Mail the default mail application for my entire system?
I use gmail and have 288 messages to upload, but it gets stuck at email 20. Have gone to gmail.com to delete # 20 email, but the application is still getting stuck. It's also duplicating messages on Mail application.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is very likey a simple fix, so I appreciate your help in advance and your bearing with me. On my iMac (10.5.8) I use mail.app to read my gmail account. On my Dell netbook (Windows 7) I use Outlook. Pretty standard stuff. But when one app downloads the message from the server, the other app doesn't. This is a major problem because I need to consolidate my emails all the time. Outlook has "Leave a copy on the server" checked and mail.app has "Delete from server" unchecked. Other than this, the gmail account functions perfectly in both apps.

T_T no mail shows up whatsoever on the bottom left it says getting mail. 1xxx out of 1xxx and the bar goes to full but no mail shows up.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEver since I upgraded to Leopard over a year ago, my Mail.app has been pretty buggy. my mail.app is currently set up to connect to my university IMAP server with SSL and password authentication. Before I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, mail would always retrieve any new mail on the IMAP server every minute and any time I press get mail. Ever since I upgraded however, the get mail function hasn't worked exactly as it should.
Sometimes get mail would work, sometimes it won't, and sometimes it takes a long time for my computer to automatically retrieve new e-mails. The weird thing is, connection doctor shows no connection abnormality, and if get mail doesn't work, I can get it to work again if I quit and reopen mail, which is always a pain. Mail on my iPhone works perfectly (syncs to my MBP), and I have already tried deleting mail.app, reinstalling from my Leopard DVD and basically resetting all settings.
It's on the top of my list right now. I tried closing it and restarting it and it still have a high memory count. It's higher then my firefox which has 30 tabs opened. Anyone know of it's designed this way? or I have too many RSS feeds? I only have 5 RSS with 1 Gmail IMAP account on it.

I occasionally click links such as "contact us" in websites that I expect to take me to something that shows an email address, but instead they automatically make my mail application open up, and that's just annoying as ****.
I know I can command+click to copy the email address. I don't need this alternate solution/not really a solution to this problem.
Preferences in the application is unavailable, I assume until I choose an account to add as it prompts me to do upon opening.
So how can I make it so that mail never opens just because I click an address?

I get the following message when I'm in Safari and select "File>Mail Contents of This Page" or "Mail Link to This Page" even though I have Apples Mail programmed installed and use it all the time as my primary email client. I don't see any preferences in Safari where I have to make a selection for these menus options to work and they have worked in the past. They have just inexplicably stopped working.

The desktop has my mail files, and sometimes I'd like to read them from the laptop. The laptop can log into the desktop over my wireless home network and I can run the copy of mail.app that's on the desktop. View 6 Replies View RelatedWell I've noticed lately when sending out emails, I select one of my accounts that I use online(specifically craigslist) but when I get a reply, they are going to another inbox from my other(private) account. I don't want this account exposed, especially to the likes of craigslist as that's a big time spam magnet and for potential scammers. What's going on with the Mail application? I checked my settings and all my account information is correct. This has just started happening recently so it must have been an update or something? I checked my "sent" folder and it's showing as the mail has gone out through the right email account but I got a response showing it was sent to my private account.

This has all gone pretty smoothly, but for some reason mail says that one of my accounts has five new e-mails, and another one has two. When I receive new e-mails these increment, and when I delete them they decrement, but they only ever go down to five and two.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHave a new iMac (last years) with 10.5 on it. My email worked normal before I transferred Applications, files & etc from my old G4 with 10.4.
Now I can only get to my email through through my Earthlink home page by logging in & etc. (a real pain just to check my email!)
If I try to use the email icon on the iMac dock I get the email line at the top of the screen , but email page does not open. I have to go to menu and click on "In" and the page opens up but does not download any email. Will not send from this location either. When I try to quit email it will not close. I have to force quit it.
Earthlink said to trash their "Total Access" as it won't work with 10.5. So when the iMac was working ok before the transfer of files I must have been using Apples Mail application. How do I get it working again? I looked all over Mail Help and Apple help and nothing seems to work. Safari works ok.
