Apr 21, 2010I know that the only true iphone simulator for mac is the one in the sdk and I have a few questions about it.
1)Do all iPhone apps work on it?
2)I don't want to become a developer, yet I really want the iPhone simulator. Is there any way i can get it without becoming a developer?

Apr 28, 2012I have very nice, full categories on my iPod touch right now. However, I am getting the iPhone 4S in about a week, and I want to have the same categories on my iPhone as I do on my iPod. I know that I can get all my apps an everything from iCloud. I want to have the same categories on my iPhone as I do on my iPod when I get it so I don't have to spend a lot of time putting the apps in categories again. So I was wondering if iCloud will save my categories too?

Jun 18, 2012This weekend I purchased a new 13" MacBook Pro. In the process of transferring data from my old MacBook Pro to the new one I almost lost all of the data from my iPhone. In the process I realized that by default iTunes only keeps one instance of the backup data - the most recent one.To avoid such a near miss in the future and to add some healthy redundancy into my life, I would like to be able to keep at least one additional backup copy of my iPhone data. Elsewhere it has been suggested to periodically copy the backup folder to another location. This seems terribly inefficient. Is there a more Apple-like way to create and manage multiple backups of my iPhone and iPad data?

Mar 19, 2012I just pulled out my old Flight Simulator X out of a box in my closet. I put it in my brother's Dell to test it out and I got back into loving planes.
I'd like to install it on my Mac. I currently own Parallels Desktop and I have Wineskin. I'd prefer not to use Parallels but if it was my only option I'd go there.
I use Wineskin for running a couple PC games but the guy who makes the wrappers [URL] doesn't make one for FSX so I'd have to make my own wrapper.
I have a Mid-2011 MacBook with 8GB of RAM, a 256GB hard drive, and a NVIDIA GeForce 320M with 256MB.

Windows On Mac :: Microsoft Flight Simulator X?
May 23, 2009I have been having bad problems with my PB 17" and will probably sell it and my MB to get a 2.4Ghz. 15" MBP.
I also play Microsoft Flight Simulator X on my MB w/bootcamp. This game is very taxing on the 2GB of Ram and the pitiful integrated Intel GMA X3100 "graphics processor", which gets around 10fps. This game is still usable with this computer, but I want to know a few things...
1. For people who use this game on any Intel Macintosh, what FPS do you get?
2. Would getting the 2.66Ghz. MBP w/512MB of VRAM be way better than the base 2.4 MBP with only 256MB of non-shared VRAM?
3. If I get the 15" MBP, what is the best way to move the Bootcamp partition with the games to the MBP from the MB? (the FSX game folder is around 35-40GB in size because of all the add-ons)

Mar 19, 2008I am an avid Microsoft Flight Simulator fan...I have been playing the sim since my Apple IIE days in the 80's. Unfortunately, that was the last time I played MFS on an Apple...fast forward through two decades of PC use and here I am today. A Mac Convert!
Last spring, I finally bought my wife this little MacBook she had been wanting. I fell in love with it...bought myself a MacBook Pro for my business and I can't get enough! I'm hooked!
Unfortunately, the ONLY way to play Flight Sim X, 2004, 2002, etc. is with Windows installed. I have a partition with Windows on my MBP (15", 2.2, 128m VRAM)...but it isn't nearly powerful enough on the GPU to play the sim.
I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of an updated IMac with a fresh approach to graphics (NVidia card), but I'm getting anxious and ready to pull the trigger.
I also have Final Cut Pro 2 and Logic Pro that I will be using on the machine so I know I should be looking at a MacPro regardless...my big problem is self control on the MacPro configuration site...I get my computer up to seven or eight large without a monitor
On a serious note though...I am curious if any others have run Microsoft Flight Sims on a Boot Camp partition (Windows) on one of the new MacPros, especially with the 8800 cards?

Dec 28, 2009So i have just installed Microsoft Flight Simulator X on the bootcamp partition on the very latest white macbook before the uni-body ones were released and i am amazed!
The games works far better than on any genuine desktop or laptop PC i have ever played it on. The graphics are smoother with better FPS and the game is generally a lot faster and generally better. My mac just keeps impressing me!
I was just wondering if anybody else on here is a Flight Simulator X fan and if you're playing it on a mac? If you are, let me know!

Jul 2, 2012I take loads of videos of my friends and I snowboarding, wakeboarding, and other stupid stuff. As well as making short films with the footage I like taking snapshots/freeze frames out of the videos to post on facebook and make slideshows. On my old Windows computer with the Kodak MediaImpressions software, although that program *****, I could take good snapshots out of the videos and it saves them as normal photos. But I can't figure out how to do that with iPhoto or iMovie. I know how to do a freeze frame in a project movie on iMovie but that is just in the project and doesnt save the photo.

May 18, 2012Since upgrading to Lion, I can't save changes or even save new documents in Pages on my laptop. When I try to save, I get the dialog box: "The document “Untitled 2” could not be saved as “Untitled 2”. Permission denied" I can't find anything in Pages preferences or in the System preferences where this setting can be changed if it is a setting.

Oct 6, 2010I used Macthe Ripper to rip my sons chuggington dvd to my macbook pro, then i used handbrake to convert it, i managed to copy the converted file to my itunes library, but when i symc my iphone 3gs, it says it won't copy the file because it can't be played on my iphone.Several forums mention using the iphone/ipod touch preset when converting in Hnadbrake, now i may be a numpty, but i cant find this preset anywhere?! The closest thing i can see is an apple button/setting.when i selected apple and told it to play again, it said it would overwrite the prev converted verison. It took hours to convert the first time, if I do this, will it really work? Or will I waste another 3 hours?!
