My macbook wont turn on properly. I plug it in to the charger and press the power button and then its starts clicking it sounds like its struggling. i have gotton it to start twice but it just starts beeping and then turns blue. I need my computer for class and work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought this computer (Macbook Aluminum 2.4 GHz - currently running Snow Leopard) last October - my warranty ends Oct. 16th. Anyways, I put a disc in the drive earlier today, and the computer took it right away. That was unusual because half the time it doesn't wanna take the disc (someone at the genius bar assured me all of these Aluminum Macbooks are this way). So continuing with my story, I took the disc out when I was done and I heard slight clicking noises coming from the side where you put discs in. I closed the computer because I thought it would stop it, reopened it, and it was still doing it. So then I restarted it, and I didn't hear it. Now I'm hearing it every so often.

Should I take into the local apple store or see if it gets worse?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is a problem or not, but recently on my 15" MBP using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3, clicking on a .dmg file automatically opens Disk Utility. Which is weird, since before this situation happens, opening a .dmg file will not automatically open Disk Utility. I have a screen shot below opening the .dmg file for Firefox installer for Mac OS X. Shouldn't it actually be like this when clicking on a .dmg file? Is there a problem with my MBP or my Mac OS X Lion?

So everytime I try to turn my macbook pro off by clicking the shut down button it does the usual turning all software off and then going to the desktop with the dashbord going away and the little circle coming up but it just stays like that forever until I force it off by pressing down the power button. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just finished editing an HD photo montage and decided to export it as an H.264 quicktime file. I was aiming for a high bitrate since the pictures are in motion, and I ended up with a 1080p30 file averaging roughly 20-40 mbps. I know this is extremely high, but I wanted a blu-ray quality encode.
Playback on my TV via PS3 looks great, but for whatever reason, this file is bringing my 8 Core, 10 gig RAM Mac Pro to its knees. Opening the file in quicktime results in horrible stuttering playback, while VLC will start playing smoothly at first and then crash, citing "computer too slow" as a possibility for the error.
I'm having a hard time believing that this machine can't playback a high bit rate H.264 file. Any ideas? Oddly enough, the activity monitor is showing only moderate usage of system resources during playback.
Computer starts (keyboard lit, music plays, caps lock light on), but no screen. I need to open and close 2 - 30 times before the screen will turn on. Once on, the computer works perfectly. I've tried PRAM and safemode reset.

This week my Mail sound started going off for all types, incessantly, including receipt of the much Junk filtered out of the Inbox into Junk. Formerly I received alert sounds only for new Inbox mail. I have unchecked the "Play sounds for other actions" in Mail Preferences which does no good.

I may have found a solution for all the people out there who upgraded their hd's to a 7200rpm and have the clicking noise. Apple released a firmware update for the 7200rpm drives that shipped with the uMBP. You can get the file from here.I don't know if this will fix only the hd's shipped with the MBP or any 7200rpm drive but its worth a try.PS: Also i ask that anyone who tries this please report back on your results.

Macbook air, when turning it off, it started to make 3 beep sounds. The fans blow heavily and it keeps on 3 beeps and a pause and the 3 beeps again and again. Some pages say that when it is three beeps it is something with bad blocks, which means something is wrong with the RAM.
1) How can something suddenly go wrong with the RAM just turning it on.
2) How can you fix this yourself?, Instead of going to the Macstore Repair? I tried resetting the PRAM by (by pressing Cmd+Opt(ALT)+R+P) Nothing happens!
3) Saw on another page that it had been an issue for a MBP user and changing or taking out the ramblocks could fix the issue, anyone tried this with Macbook air?

I hear the various sounds involved with Messages in Lion 10.7.3, when sending a msg, receiving, contacts becoming available etc. I am not hearing *any* other audio at all: No sound from Chrome with: Facebook videos, Youtube, Soundcloud or Vimeo. No sound from any media in Safari. No sound from any media in iTunes. No sound when playing files with Quicktime. No sound when increasing/decreasing system volume.I can only hear Messages sounds! Everything was working fine last night, the last thing I was able to hear was an .m4a file that I played through Quicktime. This morning - nothing. Where should I start troubleshooting? I've already restarted a couple of times, will do a full shutdown and restart again.

Speakers are just fine, but there is a red light in the headphones socket and when I go to system applications and sound, the bar for output is grayed out. Is this correct?
For example,
If I'm using my macbook air plugged into via HDMI to the TV,
I play music thru Itunes, do i get the sound pass thru to the TV?
How about if i'm playing a game on my browser with sound, does the sound go through the TV?
How bout youtube or other flash based videos?
