I have a really weird problem with my sound on my Late 2011 Macbook Pro. The only sounds I can hear from the internal speakers are system sounds. No other audio can be heard from iTunes, VLC, browsers, etc. The only sounds I can hear are the ones found in "System Preferences -> Sound -> Sound Effects" and iMessage notifications. For a while, I could hear the volume up/down chirp, but even that's gone now.
Everything is fine when I plug in headphones. I thought it was the microswitch in the headphone port, but the Macbook Pro defaults back to "Internal Speakers" when the headphones are removed. Resetting the SMC and running the normal Disk Utility routine doesn't work either. It doesn't seem to be a hardware issue with the speakers, either, or I probably wouldn't be able to hear only these specific sounds.

today i was on my macbook and realized that all of my alert sounds were not working. for example, if i got a new message in ichat or new email there would be no sound. Also, when i take a screenshot there is no sound, but there usually is one. My speakers are working because i am able to play music in itunes. Also, i system preferences, the search box does not show any results like it always does

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere is whats happening: my 3 y.o. 15 MBP is connected to external speakers (Bose MusicMonitor) and every time there is a sound, any system sound, say an email in, a volume chirp, or a Skype chirp, anything at all, I hear an audible POP, before hearing the actual sound, in fact the POP sort of overlays the sound. I hear the second POP sometimes, after the sound has sounded, so to speak, and sometimes the second one does not happen at all. To me it reminds me of the Pioneer Amp my dad used to have in the 70's, when you first turn that thing on, it would produce an audible POP. So, back to to this, it sounds like an amplifier POP by being awaken by the system, and I'm inclined to think it is the MBP's audio "amplifier" on its board. Oh, btw, both the speakers and the MBP's volume is set to low.

I have bought the airport express in order to listen to I tunes music through my marantz loudspeakers. The AE is installed and shows a green light, i tunes however doesn't show the antenna symbol and there no way I can select external audio.
I got a Mac Book Air, and bought the Airport Extreem, because I want to stream music to my HIFI system from ITunes. I have no external DVD/CD drive, so I have to use REMOTE DISK, from my windows based PC. My remote disk seems to work, but when I put in the installation CD that came with me Airport Express unit, I can only see two pdf files, Quicktime, but I cannot see the Airport Admin Utility. Is the REMOTE DISK facility completely transperant, so it should show everything on the CD, on the remote drive, or can there be files that REMOTE DISK will not give access to from my Airport Air? In other words, how can I install Airport Express on my Airport Air, via REMOTE DISK, form a XP windows based PC?

I did this before, with the airport express connected to the network over its ethernet port, and that worked great. How do you do it wirelessly? Right now the only ones that I have seen (via this forum and on the web) that I can directly connect an Airport Express to are the AudioEngine A5. I believe with these you literally plug the airport express to the back of them, if I understand them correctly.
Is there a list somewhere of speakers that are Airport Express enabled or can others provide alternatives to the AudioEngine A5?
I have iTunes 10.6.1 (7) an Airport Extream Version 6.0 Airport Utility (600.92) That I use with two airport express stations, an Apple TV 2nd Generation with latest software up date. Also have Ipad 3rd Generation and two I phone 4's. Issue: After installing the latest Airport Utility software update I'm unable to connect to my remote speakers in iTunes. The speakers are visible in the pop up menu but iTunes times out when trying to connect. If I use remote to select Apple TV and then via Apple TV select my Computers Library I'm able to play music on the Apple TV / Home Speakers... but still not the Airport Express Stations.
When using remote on the iPhone or iPad the speakers are visible as well but I'm unable to select them... iTunes times out. I can steam music from that is on my iPhone or iPad to each individual speaker, but multiple speaker control is not available and the music from my library is not available. I believe the problem is in the Airplay feature of iTunes and I believe the problems arise when you install the latest version of Airport Utility. You can play on remote speakers, only one at a time, and only if you have the music on a stand alone device (iPhone or iPad)... in summary, bypass iTunes and you can be successful... marginally successful.
The drop-down menu for my speakers has stopped appearing in my iTunes.
I rebooted the Airport Express and checked the settings. According to the Airport Admin utility it's online.
Not sure what's wrong here. I have two mac's and the speakers aren't showing up on either.
For the record I have been using my Airport Express without any problems for about five months.
After upgrading to Lion on my Macbook Air, I can't seem to be able to connect to my external speakers through airport express. Somehow I can't get the little icon I used to do, on the bottom right corner of the iTunes window (on the left of genius) to select the speakers. I checked the preferences in vain.

when I use a torrent client... when port 52025 that works great download full kb of my conection BUT the hd sounds a lot every kb sounds sounds sounds... I dont why, when downlaod a simple .dmg with safari dont sounds any... why torrents make work a lot the HD.
if I use other port dont sound but donwload are really sucks 20kb or minus.
