Within the last week I've noticed my internet is jumping back to the previous screen without warning. I will be on firefox looking at one screen and then all the sudden I am looking at the previous screen. It does it maybe every 10 minutes. I have a MacBook Pro that I only just got December 2011.

Yesterday, I got a disk read error when starting up Windows under Parallels Desktop. After some sleuthing, I found the offending file, and was about to restore from my Time Machine backup when I decided to make sure the disk wasn't going south. I booted off a second, backup, system drive that I keep just for this purpose, and ran aDrive Genius disk scan on the main system drive. All good, only 6 bad blocks on a 1T drive. I ran this overnight, as it takes an hour or two.
This morning, after seeing this result, I booted from the internal system drive, located the offending file again, and entered Time Machine to restore the data. What I found was that ALL of my Time Machine backup data had been deleted. The only data there was a backup from late last night, that WAS FOR THE SECONDARY DRIVE I HAD BOOTED FROM. Seemingly, Time Machine had quietly gone and killed all previous data, and started from scratch backing up my spare drive.
There was no warning, no notice, nothing. Over a years worth of backups were gone, and my Parallels installation is now shot, since I can't fix the read problem. I'm contacting Parallels to see if there is any other remedy. You can imagine how absolutely mad I am at this.
NOTE:
1) I did not touch the backup drive during the boot of the second drive, or the scan test. It was not re-formatted or touched in any way (other than by system software)
2) No warning was given for the deletion

I have a functioning network with a Mac Pro (primary box), Mac Mini, 3 Dells, 2 wireless IBM laptops and 2 wireless netbooks all connecting either wired or wirelessly through my Airport Extreme and an ethernet switch. Everything works well UNTIL I boot up and plug in my aging Gateway tower. It works fine and boots up nicely but when I plug it in to the network, it's cpu usage stat jumps immediately to 100% and it kills internet access for itself and to my other machines through the Airport even though the Airport's light is happily blinking green. Its been under my desk for a couple years but I'd like to retrieve the contents of it's hard drive via Fusion before I give it away.
I know its a Mac forum but maybe an Airport setting??
I'm desperate - I've already messed with it for a couple of days to no avail.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro from 2007 has recently been having a problem where the screen will go black without warning. It's been getting progressively worse, staying black for a few minutes, then staying black for many minutes, and now it can't be woken up (writing this on yet another computer!). I had a similar problem with an iBook from way back when, but can't remember whether I solved the problem by some series of keystrokes or by buying a new computer.
I tried [Apple]+[Option]+[P]+[R] until it start-up chimed, then start-up chimed again. And I tried holding [SHIFT] while it rebooted. I can hear the volume increase and decrease popping-like sound and it reboots fine (as far as I can tell). This MacBook Pro runs Snow Lion (I think).
Cursor is driving me crazy jumping all over screen, to middle of sentences, deleting words and sometimes deleting entire sentences when I hit enter.

They are Canon MP630 and Canon PIXME Pro 9000 mk ll..I have contacted canon and they have sent me the latest udates and said they are compatable upto 10.7.x but the aren't compatable with 10.7.3 the update failed. Can I revert back to 10.7.2 as I really need to use my printers

This just started happening a few days ago. My cursor randomly jumps to the upper left corner of the screen for no good reason. I've cleaned the optical sensor on the mouse.
I used a test account and it didn't happen there (although I probably should have given it a longer test). I'm wondering if it's a corrupted preferences issue, but I can't find any likely prefs to trash.
Lost everything in the folder Documents how to go back to previous day.

The latest update for Java is causing issues on our website, disabling Mac users on OS 10.6 and 10.7 from uploading or downloading images using a java applet. We know it is being cause by these recent updates:Java for OS X 2012-004 or Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 9.Is there any fix for this or a way to revert back to the previous version of Java, without having to re-install Mac OS? We are currenlty at a loss of how to address this issue and we have many users impacted.

View 9 Replies View Relatedmy iMac has this glitch, the cursor jumps or teleports across screen every second. I move it and then it jumps again, always jumps to the same place, same exact pixel everytime. I try to move the cursor quickly (to open safary or hit stand by) but no matter where the pointer is across the 27" screen, it teleports like a clock.
I changed batteries on the trackpad and magic mouse and it didn't work. I turned mouse off, left trackpad on and it didn't work. I tried using a wired mouse and it didn't work. this is obviously not related to the input device.
I would like to restore the input driver with time-machine but I have no idea where the drivers reside in the machine. I also have no idea how to roll-back or reinstall such drivers on a Mac.
this is not the jittery, erratic, jumpy bug. When this glitch is triggered and I have absolutely no clue how or why, sometimes it starts 1 minute after reboot, sometimes 30 minutes; when it is triggered it starts to teleport every second, the arrow jumps to the same spot. it's unbearable since it renders the machine useless. I have to press the power button to send it to sleep, resume and then the glitch is gone, only to come back 5 or 30 minutes afterwards.
Finally, this thing happened last year in november. I wasn't able to solve it back then so I had to reinstall the whole OS Lion, that meant waiting 6 hours for it to download from the appStore (because Apple doesn't allow me to keep a copy LION on my system). I think that's plain silly since it's obviously a very mundane (but annoying) glitch and there's got to be a workarround that doesn't require system restore.

At the beginning of November I opened my stickies and a song I had been working on was gone. I have had data recovery attempt to find the lost stickie, but 1) it was not saved as a text file, 2) it is no longer in the stickies database, and 3) I do not currently have time machine. Basically, everyone told me I was screwed except the top of the line place in California who wants to charge me $1500 to just attempt to get it back, with no gurantee. Is there anyway I can recover a deleted stickie? Or is there anyway to restore the stickies database/my computer back to a date when I know the stickie there?
View 1 Replies View RelatedGoing back to iMovie 6.0.4 was definitely the right thing to do. Adding Flip4Mac Pro solved all my file importing problems. Now, can I delete 8.0? Or does 6.0 share some files with it and will I have a problem if 8.0 is deleted? I also have to say that, the more I use my iMac, the better I like it. There are so many standard features in OSX Leopard that I am finding new tricks every day.

And the search string will still be right in the window where I typed it. But sometimes after going to a link, I'll come back to this page and the page will be the same, but the search string is from a previous search. This is an inconvenience as I frequently go back to edit the search. I can't seem to reproduce it at the moment.

When viewing a page of anything, my screen reverts to the previous screen I was viewing. Also when looking at a map with zoom and out zoom the controls are of their own mind and always go to the max adjustment bypassing the incremental changes I want. Its very annoying.

I was using my Mac (Macbook Pro 15" screen) and tried opening a file in GarageBand, at which point a warning message came up saying something about a midi file and something not being allowed, and then froze, resulting in me having to switch the computer off from the power button and restarting (Sadly I didnt realise that this would be the start of a whole host of problems and didnt make a note of the warning message). After rebooting I got the 'stuck on the blue screen with the Apple logo and infinitly spinning wheel' problem that i've seen in a few posts. having tried numerous suggestions posted with no change I ended up taking it to the genius section of an Apple store. When i got it back they said that it may have been a corrupted file, and that they re-installed and reset the starting programs (Something along those lines, I cant quite remember). I can now get onto the computer and use it, though some new problems have arisen.......
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince getting a new iMac with Lion, I have noticed that frequently the screen will shift sideways without warning, when the mouse has moved only slightly, and disappear. Sometimes there is an arrow in the lower righthand corner that allows retrieval of the lost screen, but not always. This causes particular problems when my son is doing schoolwork online -- sometimes the answers he had put down to questions will be gone when we retrieve the screen, or answers to matching-type questions will be scrambled. Is there a way to stop the screen shifting sideways?

When I have my brightness at a certain setting and then start playing a game, the brightness jumps to full. When I then press the button for less brightness, it jumps immediately to the setting it was originally.
This also happens whenever I do alt+tab to return to the desktop. So it appears it happens when I do something that requires to switch to full screen mode cause it also happens with other programs.
At normal use, surfing, office,... this problem does not occur. And also it doesn't happen under OS X
So I took an account photo when i recently installed leopard at the start up...when it's creating the account and all of that stuff...
I was messing around with Photo Booth, and clicked the account photo button, and it replaced the old one that i like with a new one...
How can i get my old one back? where was it located? I have made time machine backups, so maybe if i knew where the old photo is stored at, i could retrive it?

I have a new UMBP 15" and just recently, without changing anything it seems. The pointer has serious issues moving around on the screen, especially in slow operation/movements it will jerk around and not stay where its supposed to be. If I just hold my finger in one place it will jump around very noticeably, inches even. Even clicking sometimes takes a few hard taps when just barely touching it would work. I've tried restarting and that didn't clear it up as well as changing some scrolling speeds. Just wondering if anyone else had seen this problem.

However, just a few minutes ago something very strange happened. The charge indicator jumped from 23% to 51%, but the indicator remained red. I did a search but didn't find anything about this issue, so I thought I'd post. Has anyone seen this before?

My 15.4" Macbook Pro late 2011 (box instalation) is running hot at 200F and the fan jumps to 6000rpm without any real reason. I know it is not normal, what can I do? Clean install or service?

New to this website and I'm by all means not a computer genius so please bear with me and I've been having some issues that I'm curious about and am hoping that I can get some answers hear. I bought a white Macbook about 9 months ago (switched from a PC) and I make great use of the two finger scrolling feature. I tend to put one finger on the bottom of the trackpad (just above the button) and scroll with another. Sometimes while I'm scrolling through a website, the page "jumps" as if I did a quick motion or hit the space bar to move the page down and I then have to search back through the page I was on to where I was reading, etc. I'm curious if my trackpad has issues (everything else is fine and it only "jumps" occasionally) and needs repair or replacement. If not, is there any way to prevent this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen watching a 720p video on Youtube, my Mac jumps to like 50-60% CPU usage. The frame rate slows and is almost unbearable to watch. I have also noticed that if I leave my MBP on for like >3 days then sooner or later my computer will get really sluggish and unresponsive. I end up having to restart because the CPU is going so insanely high. Okay, as I write this, I am having huge CPU jumps while doing nothing but typing this. Yes, Youtube is open in another window, but still.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've been searching the net for a solution but no luck. I have a late 08 Black Macbook 2.4ghz and the trackpad feels extremely rough. It does not look worn out one bit, but i have to press pretty hard and "push" the cursor. On the other hand my girlfriend has the same model in white and here trackpad feels like silk.
Whats the best solution for this? Is replacing the entire top case my only fix?
