When viewing a page of anything, my screen reverts to the previous screen I was viewing. Also when looking at a map with zoom and out zoom the controls are of their own mind and always go to the max adjustment bypassing the incremental changes I want. Its very annoying.Â

I recently hooked my mac laptop to a display projector, and now when I log off or shut down the screen resolution reverts to a stretched view. I reset it to 1280x800 in System Preferences-Display, but it keeps changing back. I'm running OSX 10.5.8

My daughter has dropped her ageing MBP, bent the screen lid and now the screen is no longer usable. We have other Macs available to access the data on the screen if we could turn on Screen Sharing on the damaged MBP running Snow Leopard.Â

Just installed Snow Leopard (10.6) a few days ago, and most things are working as expected. However, I find that when I customize the Safari (4.03) toolbar, it will remain in that form until I quit. But when I open Safari again, the customized toolbar appears for a few seconds, and then reverts to the default. Very frustrating, as I have to customize it each time I open it in order to use buttons that have vanished. Firefox (ew) is fine, by the way.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHave a problem with an PowerBook 867 upon turning on it starts with a normal screen for a few seconds and reverts to a dark screen and continues to load as normal except for dark screen if I can find the curser I can change resolutions and the screen will return to normal for a second then revert, have tried everything but nothing works , have tried reseting (button under keyboard, removing battery holding down option and control with R P keys etc) but nothing fixes, I have noticed this has happened to others on this forum but I cannot seem to find the answer can anybody help?

The latest software update for Mac OS X (10.6.8) upgraded the version of java from Apple and broke an application used for work. Are the previous or older versions of java available from Apple for download?Â
For future updates, Is there a way to modify the software update process to install the the new version but leave the old version in place?

I remember seeing rumours about a possible screen capture program being included with Snow Leopard. While I was just scrolling through all the new features on the Apple website for Snow Leopard I saw this:

I don't know if I missed the point at which everyone else found this but it came as a surprise to me. Are there any developers that can elaborate on how good this is and how it works?

Does anybody know what's going on here? (see pics) This happens sometimes and I can't figure out why. If i move a window over it, the corrupt parts stay the same underneath if that makes any sense.
It's a MBA REVA, and i had the logic board replaced by Apple for free in January in the hope to reduce some heat issues. But it didn't really work. Other than that the machine is in top order.
since installing sl, my imac itself works fine however i am stuck with a solid blue wallpaper. everytime i try and change it, it goes back to blue screen within 30 seconds or so. not a crashing problem like others have faced, but annoying nonetheless. got to second level of apple support and still could not figure it out. anyone have any ideas?

I'm interested in recording my desktop (keynote, videos, audio, me) for education purposes. I'm demoing Screenflow now (love it to death) but are there any native options that I'm missing? Was this tool added to SL and I just can't find it?
A while after I installed Snow Leopard I started to notice odd glitches I can't think how to describe them. They appear randomly and don't follow anything specific. Anyway has anyone else experienced these? They only started appearing once I had snow leopard installed. I have an early 2008 Macbook 2.4 GHz with an Intel GMA X3100.
Here are some screenshots so you can see what I'm on about.
When I try to take rapid fire screen captures (5-7 caps/sec) using the shortcut keys, only a 3-4 of these captures will show up on the desktop, and it generally takes 5-7 seconds for them to call show up. I never had a problem doing this until I reformatted/reinstalled snow leopard over the weekend - even when all programs are shut down this lag occurs.

Within the last week I've noticed my internet is jumping back to the previous screen without warning. I will be on firefox looking at one screen and then all the sudden I am looking at the previous screen. It does it maybe every 10 minutes. I have a MacBook Pro that I only just got December 2011.

After updating from 10.5.8 to 10.6.1 I was not able to use screen sharing any more to connect to a machine running 10.5.8. If I click on "Share Sreen..." in finder, by default my short name is used (e.g. jwhite) Using the correct password I was faced with the message: (Authentication failed to "...".) Please verify you have entered the correct name and password. This worked fine in Leopard to Leopard. Snow Leopard to Leopard did not work. Trying a lot of things I managed to use screen sharing without a problem by using the full name (e.g. John White instead of jwhite)
View 2 Replies View RelatedPreviously, I have had no troble removing obsolete enteries from Previous Recipients in Mail.Of, course I also remove these enteries from my Address Book. Now, when I hit the "Remove From List" button, the entry disappears, but it reappears the next time I check the Previous Recipients List. I simply cannot get rid of obosete entries.

I have had a string of bad luck with my mac, a couple of days ago the screen started flickering and my mac froze (could still move trackpad mouse, not click). It started up fine again.. It did this a couple times more (had to restart pressing power button). Then it froze evereytime I put the power cable in it. I solved this problem with an PRAM reset.
But now it still freezes up, the screen will start flickering and i can only move the mouse. When i try to reboot it gets stuck on the grey screen. only once every 20 times Ill get into the os.
I have tried a pram reset, holding the power button, safe mode, hardware test (no probs found), starting up without external devices.
It wont boot from the cd if it is stuck on the grey screen...
Could someone may be tell me what to do? thinking about bringing it to the store tomorrow .
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I have a external monitor plugged in and I use my Macbook Pro (2009 Uni) as a secondary monitor. Randomly, the macbook screen just goes black. If I move my mouse on to the macbook screen, I can see the mouse cursor, but the rest of the screen is black! It's driving me mad!
The only fix is to un-plug the monitor adaptor or adjust display arrangements. It's really cramping my style.
I wanted to change my wallpaper for the login screen. I already changed the wallpaper in System/Library/CoreServices/DefaultDesktop.jpg. But when I check back at my login screen, it is still the purple aurora background.
I tried repairing it using onyx through file permissions and also snow leopard disk utility repair disk. But my wallpaper still doesn't change.
I tried using Loginox last time when I just got my snow leopard, when I tried changing the wallpaper, it crashed on me and this problem arised.
I'll bring up 2 application screens for comparing some data. I move them arround a bit to line up data. After a few such moves - one screen suddently vanishs (to the right or left). I bring it back by reinstating the application - but then the other screen disappears. So now I can't get the 2 screens to stay on the display at the same time. I don't know exactly what triggers the first disappearance

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't be the only person experiencing this, but I can't find anything on the 'net about it.  I've got a 15" MacBook Pro (early 2011) and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. About 1/3rd of the time when I logoff and go back to the Snow Leopard login window, the purple Aurora background is smaller than the screen's displayable area, and pushed up into the top left corner of the screen. A wide band of solid blue takes up the right side of the screen and a narrrower one appears along the bottom of the screen. Â
The login window still works, and if I log into a user, the user's desktop is also limited to that upper left part of the screen -- a roughly 9" x 7" area, instead of the 13" x 8" displayable area of the whole screen. The mouse pointer won't leave the (now limited) desktop area.Â
I've just figured out that the display resolution shown in System Preferences-->Displays has been changed from the normal/default setting of 1440 x 900 to a setting of 1024 x 768!  It happens when logging out of any of (at least) four different users,including two that are rarely used. Restarting the system sets everything back to normal again, as does using System Preferences to set the display resolution back to 1440 x 900. what could be causing the screen display resolution to change after logout?Â

My MBP(#1) is stuck in grey screen. I've tried 4 or 5 of the steps suggested to get the computer to boot up. I used Target Disk Mode to copy hard disk files to my other MBP(#2), then inserted the Mac OSX install disk, then turned off the MBP(#1) and restarted with the C key held down. Instead of getting the OSX installation, it remained grey and gave me repeating 3-beeping sounds. What does this mean?

I have a 2006 Mac Mini using Snow leopard OS X 10.6.8.It will start up to show the 2 User accounts that are set up however when one of the accounts is selected all that appears is a totally blue screen with only my mouse curser working on it. Is there a fix for this?
