I like Preview.app to be my primary app to open pdf and pictures. When I want to edit I will open the app I need and drag document to the icon to open. Something changed and now Adobe Acrobat has become my default. I want to change back to Preview.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow do I make "RAR expander" my default program for .rar files?Or is there another program you would recommend?
Background:I used "RAR expander" for a long time until I came across a file it was not compatible with. I then downloaded and installed "The Unarchiver" and it worked on the file "RAR expander" would not open.
After that "The Unarchiver" became the default program for .rar files. The problem is that "The Unarchiver" does not work well with password protected files. So for months now I have just manually opened "RAR expander" whenever I try to open a password protected file.
I want to keep both programs so I will be able to open any file, but as I rarely use "The Unarchiver" I would like to have that be the one I have to dig through sub-folders to use. That is, unless there is some excellent program I have not tried.
Opening CC2014 Photoshop files keeps throwing up error screens warning of a 'strtable error'.
Having just moved to the new MBP and at the same time upgrading to CC2014 means I'm not even clear on whether the file issue is an Adobe or Apple message.Â
Clicking 'OK' on the warning screen allows the file to open seemingly without problems, but it obviously doesn't promote a relaxed attitude to file integrity.Â
I've read suggestions that the issue is related to files having the wrong extension, but that's not the case here. Some of the files are legacy files from CS Photoshop; but many are created in the last few days by the same CC2014 PS app that's trying to open them.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I got an SSD for my Mac Pro and it has been good so far. I was using Photoshop to make some changes on a panorama, its a .psb that is over 17 GB. I have set up Photoshop so that my scratch disks are all 4 mechanical drives, and I unchecked the SSD as a scratch disk.
I tried using content aware fill on a part of the image and left for a while. When I got back on, it said Photoshop encountered a problem because the scratch disk was full.
I have 4 2TB drives set up as scratch disks and it looks like Photoshop only used my SSD, which was never checked as active! I had 80GB available on the SSD and it got filled up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTried googling this with no luck. I'm new to the mac/laptop world. My new mac keeps picking my neighbor's network over mine. It (obviously) fails to connect to the neighbors router coz password is required. I then have to scroll down a list of networks and instruct my computer to connect to my router. Is there a way to simplify my life...

What my question is, why? CS4 has been out for a while.
I just got a bunch of Photoshop styles in the form of .asl files and tried to load them on Photoshop, but Photoshop didn't recognise any of these files. The file icons are grey rectangles with 'exec' on them. Â
May I know how I can open these asl files that seem to work fine for everyone else?
I use a CS3. Â

How do I transfer Photoshop files from my Macbook air to the larger Mac Pro?
Info:MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I am poised to make the change from PC to Mac. However, I have a decision to make. I am currently running a 3ghz QUAD core, 8gb RAM with Windows Vista. The system runs well (yes, even though it is Windows) but I wish to move to Mac and ditch the Windows world. I plan to use Logic Pro so need a Mac. I have 2 x 24" monitors that set me back 700. I was thinking to keep those and perhaps buy a Mini Mac. The mini Mac can support 2x displays.
My big question is this: If I went for the 2.66Ghz Intel Duo Core Mini Mac with 8gb RAM, would this tun Logic Pro without any problems? Would it also run software like Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator / Premiere without hanging or being very slow? Who has a mini Mac and currently has these softwares installed? Please advise? Should I simply sell everything and go for an iMac?
I have a white 24" iMac with a Core2 Duo processor, running Snow Leopard 10.6.3.
The new Photoshop CS5 extended software can run on 64-bit.
I know it also depends on the processor's firmware. Will my iMac be able to run Photoshop CS5 (comes out June 30th 2010) in 64-bit mode?
I'm new to this forum, mostly because I've had such ease of use with macs over the years that I've had to search support forums. But with Snow Leopard less than 24 hours old, I've had my system "crash" 3 seperate times.
While running Photoshop CS2, the system will lock up. After a few seconds the system moves to a solid blue screen and then restarts the OS. It's almost like all programs running, including Finder are forced quit. There is "bong" over the system starting up or anything.
To clarify, I'm running a brand Mac Mini, 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. At the time of the crash I had nothing more than iTunes and PS CS2 running. During each crash I was doing simple tasks, a color selection, opening an effects panel and opening a very small smart object.
Also to note, I downloaded Safari 4 months ago when it was still in beta, and had no problems. The Safari that comes packaged with Snow Leopard is extremly sluggish and has forced me to use FireFox.
my goal is to be a 3D computer animator, and was wondering if the Macbook Pro would be able to handle all of these animation programs successfully?

I just brought a brand new IMAC 21.5" the base model (NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics) with 4 gb RAM. I downloaded the trial version of adobe cs5 to check if it runs ok but when I am starting things from scratch like just creating things from a blank canvas it runs so slow like trying to paint stuff and render it comes up with a loading screen it just doesnt do it straight away. But when I am working on photos it seems to run ok. Is there away to solve this issue? Do I need to updated my RAM to make it run smooth?

I have acrobat installed, and every time I view a pdf through safari, it views it with acrobat. I want it to do it with Preview instead, but I don't know how!
in other words when I'm in Safari, and I click on a link of a pdf file, I want it to display the pdf in the browser with Preview instead of acrobat.
I'm tired of clicking .avi files and others and quicktime opening up and saying it can't play them.
