OS X Mavericks :: Running (10.9.3) And Safari 7.0.4 - Can't Print PDF Files From Safari
Jun 3, 2014
Running OS X (10.9.3) and Safari 7.0.4. Can't print pdf files from Safari and sometimes can't download them either (error says they are corrupted) but I can download from a windows laptop. I found something online about disabling a pdf plug-in, but it was for Lion, so not sure if it's still the correct fix. Also, how to uninstall a plug-in unless you provide exact locations of where the plug-ins are stored.
My Safari browser has been running slow since upgrading to Mavericks last fall. Some webpages (Facebook, USAA) won't even fully load, while others load fine. I've read a lot of the other posts about slow Safari and I've tried the other tricks that people have posted (Changing DNS to the Google one, using "Reset" on Safari, turning off extensions and plug-ins) I finally downloaded Chrome and it's just as fast as my safari "used" to be. So it can't be the internet connection because both my phone/iPad browsers are super fast and my MacBook Pro's Chrome is super fast. I just want to go back to using Safari!
I am running Safari 5.1.4 on a Lion MacBook Pro (latest version of Lion), but for some reason it won't play mp3 files - it always ends up downloading them. However, if I try the same web page with the same mp3 files on, say, Chrome, they play just fine.
I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.
I am unable to open PDF files. All I get is a blank black screen. I now download PDFs into my computer from the internet (with mixed success), which is several steps more than has ever taken me in the past. Since finding this problem I have updated the Adobe Reader and run system updates today, to no avail. Adobe reports that there is a compatibility issue between Safari 5.1 and Adobe Reader. They offer several solutions none of which has worked for me. [URL]. Is updating Safari going to work for me, or are there other solutions?

Using Safari 5.0.2 and crashing constantly when trying to print a PDF file out of the browser. I am using the Schubert-it PDF Viewer to view and print. Sometimes it crashes when I merely click on the print icon on the website or after the PDF file opens up in a separate window and click the print button on the separate window. It has also crashed using different printers.
Could someone take a look at this crash report log and see if anything looks weird. This just started happening, so I am not sure what I did.I have it attached as a doc file since it was too long.
Since installing Snow Leopard I've been unable to print from Safari. When I click File>Print no print window appears and more often than not it locks up Safari requiring a Force Quit.I'm not having this issue with any other apps including Firefox.
how I can quickly print the first page I am looking at in SafariI cant seem to find an option to print page one of however many there are.
I dont want to have to go:-
Print>Preview>File>Print selected page>Print
as five steps is far too long winded with the amount of printing I am dealing with every day. What I really need to do is to print Paypal invoices WITHOUT them going over to a second page and wasting ink/paper.
I originally made most of my bookmarks through Safari; I then moved those bookmarks to FireFox, and subsequently added more bookmarks there (but all under Safari). There are no bookmarks under Firefox. When I open a bookmark from FireFox, I go to BOOKMARKS-->FROM SAFARI---> BOBS BOOKMARKS--->Folders/subfolders & titles of bookmarks. I would like to print out these bookmark links, how do I do it? Can't figure it out.
I don't want to migrate them to my new computer because it will just add more layers of complication. I want the new system without all these subfolders etc etc. If I can print them out I'll manually type them into my new browser bookmarks. Otherwise, since I have both old & new iMacs side by side & running, I'll look each up and do it that way.
I´m running Lion, we´re getting better acquainted. However, with Safari I´m having problems when I try to save a web page as a PDF using the Print-Save PDF options. It tells me the file cannot be saved. I try duplicating, exporting, etc, and the only solution I´ve found is to email the document, which, when attatched to the email arrives as a PDF with no problem whatsoever. This is silly (close to dancing infront of my MacBook Pro with a black chicken spitting rum in all directions).
Since updating Safari to version 5.1.3 and later (now 5.1.5) my HP 2605dn printer balks on printing some Web page with the error message, "Document too complex to print" and I have to recycle the power and empty the print queue. This wasn't a problem before as it printed any page Safari sent it. I'm wondering if others are having this same problem with Safari. There are some Web pages I have to print independent of others and some which just won't print anymore.
A couple of days ago I had no trouble printing a PDF which was open in a Safari window. Now when I have a PDF open in Safari and I try to print a page of it, the print window that appears shows a blank page, and if I click Print, the paper comes out blank. I tried opening the same PDF in Firefox and the window itself is blank. It works in Chrome.
Im doing this Target coupon thing and it keeps saying "you need to download Java" or something like that. And i have java, the newest version, updated all 3 times apple fought againt that trojan, and it's still not working! Java is enabled and working. Why is this happening?
I'm running 5.1.5 in Lion. When I click the "Print Label" button to ship a package on UPS as I've done for years, the button links to a UPS "Page Not Found" page. I'm not running in private mode or using the pop-up blocker, so I don't know what's going on. The button works just fine in Chrome. Haven't tried other browsers.
Have recently started having an issue where when I open a PDF attachment from Safari, it will not allow me to print it or "save as". When I attempt to print, the window comes up, shows a blank preview in landscape mode. When I attempt to "save as" it states The document “201205210502092.pdf” could not be exported as “201205210502092”. and nothing saves. It used to work great every time, now, it does not work at all.
I want to be able to print only a certain selection of text on a website. Let's say the second paragraph or the address of a place. I can highlight it, but don't know how to print just that selection. I can do this on a pc by selecting "selected" when the pc print options come up. Is there a similar way in mac or do I need to copy and paste to Pages and print from there?
Got a hairy one here that I've been working around for ages.....perhaps someone has a real fix for me. If I try to print (or save as a PDF) from a particular web site with THEIR Java "print" button on the web page, Safari crashes. Upon restart of Safari all is well. It stays ok until I re boot/restart the computer. Then the same thing happens. After the first crash of Safari everthing is a-ok. The print function from the Safari menu does NOT crash - it works all the time. sam P.S. Intel box with Safari 4.0.4 and OS X 10.6.2.
I am running 10.5.2 on a PPC G5, but since I upgraded to 10.5 I can no longer print to our Xerox Docucolor 12 with Fiery rip, from either Apple Mail or Safari. All I get in print monitor is one of 2 messages:-/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstops failed.OR empty print file!
I have tried re-installing the most up to date xerox driver and repaired permissions, but no luck. If I print from Acrobat/Illustrator or any other application, everything is ok. Just Mail & Safari are causing problems.
I have a mac mini G4 with Mac OSX 10.4.11. I have Safari 3.2.1 and Mac Preview version 3.0.9. Beginning last week when I attempt to print a page or article from online using Safari and Firefox the browser crashes. Likewise, when I attempt to print from a PDF file loaded in Mac Preview, the file crashes. I thought it was a printer issue until I realized that I can print Word documents without issue. I have had no problems with printing in the past, but now I do for no good reason. It is curious that printing PDFs and webpages does not work, but printing Word documents does.
I cannot get Safari to download pdfs or print them from the screen. If I try to download it tells me file cannot be saved. If I try to print, the pages are blank. iMac 27"
On a couple, but not all, of my financial institutions webpages, I can't download the statements and save them as pdf. When I click the pdf link, a page opens showing the statement, but to see it all, one has to scroll the screen. When I try to print it, by clicking File on the toolbar, the pulldown menu gives me only the option of Print Largest Frame which prints only what is visible on the screen in the window. When I try to save by going to File, then Save As, a window opens for print options giving me two format choices: Page Source (html) or Web Archive, but no pdf. The statements never download, nor open as pdf.
What is odd, is that this issue is not common to all financial institutions. On some, the statements read, load, save, and print as pdf just fine. I have updated the Adobe Reader, and all software on my Mac.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Safari 5.1.3
Pdf documents open only with QuickTime. If there are 2 pages or more you can ses only the first. If you want to print, the preview is empty and nothing is printed!
Safari hangs on print process. Starts "preparing" but never stops preparing. Clicking cancel leads to a continuous "canceling" which never stops. Must force quit safari.
