Mac Pro :: Make Some Changes On A Panorama Using Photoshop?

Sep 24, 2010

So I got an SSD for my Mac Pro and it has been good so far. I was using Photoshop to make some changes on a panorama, its a .psb that is over 17 GB. I have set up Photoshop so that my scratch disks are all 4 mechanical drives, and I unchecked the SSD as a scratch disk.

I tried using content aware fill on a part of the image and left for a while. When I got back on, it said Photoshop encountered a problem because the scratch disk was full.

I have 4 2TB drives set up as scratch disks and it looks like Photoshop only used my SSD, which was never checked as active! I had 80GB available on the SSD and it got filled up.

PowerPC :: Run Photoshop CS2 And CS3

Feb 12, 2007

I own a PowerBook G4 15-inch, been enjoying it for a long while now, having thoughts of upgrading it. Performance Question, Is the current Black MacBook (when the top of the range Intel processor is installed, and when maxxed out with RAM) faster in overall performance than my now aged PowerBook G4 15-inch? I saw a bloke take out his MacBook at a cafe recently and I was blown away by its compact size (weight is an issue and I'm prepared to compromise large screen size for smaller resolutions and less weight). Schlepping my Powerbook around in my large and well protected shoulder bag is quite literally giving me a pain in the neck. Software Question: Will I be able to run Photoshop CS2 and CS3 and Final Cut Express on the MacBook without wishing I'd upgraded to the 17-inch MacBook Pro - weight issues and compact form aside - instead ? currently I uninstalled CS1 from my Powerbook G4 800Mhz 2GB Ram because its performance sucked soo much, I ran back to Photoshop 7 and ImageReady 7.

Mac Mini :: Can Run Photoshop CS3 On It

Sep 28, 2007

I have only recently started using macs but I have been quite enthused by the experience. So much so that one of my friends is considering purchasing a Mac Mini. He wants to run Photoshop on it and (like me) is about to buy CS3 basic. If he hates the mac adobe will apparently let him cross platforms back to windows for a small fee. Also will he be able to run boot camp with XP fairly well or is the machine too small to allow this? He will buy the beefier of the two and with 2gig of ram.

OS X :: Trying To Install Photoshop CS4?

Mar 13, 2009

I've searched for the solution to this problem but I can't quite find it. I'm trying to install Photoshop CS4 (regular, didn't have the money for extended) and it doesn't let me. Perhaps it's the amount of available HD space on my laptop. There are 4.3 GB of HD space left on this MacBook (2,1). Anyone know what's going on? The program says it's already installed, I believe.

Mac Pro :: One Processor Or Two For Photoshop?

Feb 24, 2010

I currently use a G5 PowerPC 2.5 Quad with 8Gb RAM. With the ever increasing size of digital images (my camera now takes 24Mp images), I find the initial browsing of my images increasingly slow. Also, non-Intel processors are becoming less supported by the latest software and I figured it's time to invest in a new setup. Just today, I sent back my iMac i7 (as a result of the well publicised screen issues) that was potentially to replace my G5. I have taken the decision to invest in a new Mac Pro and utilise my existing 30" cinema screen. The likelihood is that I will wait to see what the 2010 Pro shapes up like, but in preparation, can someone please tell me what is better for photoshop (I will be upgrading to CS5 once released), one big or two smaller processors?? For example, looking at the current offerings, which would give faster/better performance, a 2.93 quad core, or 2 x 2.26 quad cores, each with 8Gb RAM?

Applications :: Photoshop CS5 X64 - Is It Actually X64

Jun 4, 2010

I run a MacBook (White) 2.16 Ghz 2007 model, which is running x64 Snow Leopard. When I open Photoshop CS5, the splash screen shows it is x64. So I wait for it to load, and based on Apple Developer news and articles, you can't have a 64-bit Carbon framework application. I knew that with Carbon framework applications, you can't drag a window around by its titlebar when it's not responding, or frozen. With the 64-bit enabled Cocoa framework you can. When it was loading, I tried dragging the titlebar, and it wouldn't work, so I thought maybe it isn't 64-bit after all. I inspected the program with Xray, and it told me it was Carbon. I was confused. Is Adobe having the Mac users on or is just my computer playing up?

OS X :: Photoshop CS3 With Snow Leopard

Aug 30, 2009

Apparently Adobe have not officially tested CS3 with Snow Leopard although unofficially they have and acknowledge some problems. They do not acknowledge (officially) the crashes experienced by David Pogue of the New York Times (but claim to be working with him per the John Nash blog at Adobe). I paid over $600 for PS CS3 a little less than 2 years ago. I think that's a premium that deserves support and not be railroaded into a $200 upgrade to a version of PS CSn that I don't need. Anyone else use Photoshop CS3 and not want to be forced into CS4 by Adobe?

Mac Pro :: Finding Configuration For Photoshop

Dec 4, 2010

My wife is a professional photographer. Her business is growing and so is the time she spents behind her computer (Imac) Photoshopping . She is complaining about the speed. So we are planning an upgrade to a Mac Pro combined with a Eizo screen.

I have some questions about the configuration. We are looking for something which generates speed. It has to be reasonable in price in three years we will buy another one, so upgradable is not that important.

The image size off the RAW photo's is 25MB. But in the coming three years will grow for example to 50MB when a new camera is bought. For a project dozens of these images have to be processed.

PowerPC :: G4 1.0 Ghz 2.0G RAM Capacity With Photoshop CS

Jan 25, 2007

I need some insight on powerbook G4 (1.0 Ghz and 2.0 Gb RAM.) I am a freelance digital imager and have to work on a massive amount of images very fast and efficiently next week. My company is planning to supply me with that powerbook.

I will be using Photoshop CS, and I need to batch (mostly rotate and resize) and color correct at least 20 images that are around 4MB at once. Is it possible? If not, how many images can it take?

I have a Pentium 4, 2.0 Ghz Toshiba laptop with 768 MB RAM, and it is quite slow when I try to do the samething on Photoshop Cs2. So, I am quite worried.

So I have CS4, and it's been wonderful on my new 24" iMac. After the latest 10.5.6 update, it started giving me this message every time I open Photoshop:

Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer's website for latest software.

GPU enhancements can be enabled in the Performance panel of Preferences.

This never happened before 10.5.6. A coincidence? Or did something change? Why does it keep giving me this message?

I had downloaded photoshop elements 6 for mac and used the trial period. It ran up and my mother purchased the program on a disc. When I try to install it it starts the setup and then tells me that an error occurred and there is an incompatible payload or something along that line. What do I need to do to fix it. I know I should have just put in the s/n from the box instead of trying to install with the disc but I didn't think that much.

OS X :: Trouble With Photoshop While Trying To 'Save As'

Oct 16, 2009

I installed SL the day it was released and am having several issues that I cannot figure out.The installation was over Leopard on a 2.93 GHz 24" iMac with 4GB ram. I'm having the most trouble with Photoshop while trying to "Save As". Photoshop will just crash hard and close without saving any of the changes I made to the file. I've tried saving to alternate locations (i.e. desktop, etc) but still get the same crash.

Another little annoying quirk is when I need to confirm an installation, the text in the window is garbage.
