What I can do is only hold the Option(alt) key at the beginning of the boot. But I can find the Mac OS X system in the Windows system. Also the Windows part in the disk tool is showing diskO3 and I can't fix it. When I try to fix it, it says try to buck up data as much as I can. so what should I do. No matter which system I boot last time it always boot to the mac OS X.
View 1 RepliesFirst off, let me explain the position I am in. I have the newest 13in MacBook with a 2.4Ghz hard drive. I installed Windows Vista on it recently after I got it. Many times while using Vista, all audio would stop and be replaced with crackling sounds. This would continue until I restarted. I tried going to Dell, downloading drivers for the Broadcom 802.11n WiFi Adapters and installing those, but that caused a worse problem. Windows can no longer find any networks, and when I select the Broadcom WiFi Adapters in Device Manager, it says "This device cannot start." and says it's Code 10 or something.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a macpro with OSX on one drive and windows 7 on a partition of another drive. Both systems work fine and I boot into windows by holding the option key down. What is odd is if I go to the system preferences startup disk my windows install does not show up. I did move my windows partition a while ago to a new drive. I used bootcamp to create the partition and winclone to move the data. It's not a big deal not having the option in the preference pain but would be nice. If I am in windows and go to the bootcamp control panel both OS X and Windows are there.
View 3 Replies View Relatedim using boot camp for windows 7 and recently started to use vmware and ever since then the start up time is horribly long when before it was very fast. it takes a long time to get to the log in screen and then when i get to the desktop it stays black for a while longer. its not the worst thing in the world and a small price to pay to be able to run my boot camp partition alongside os x but i just want to make sure vmware is the culprit because if it isn't i might need to do some more digging to find the real problem.
btw im talking about starting windows through boot camp not through vmware.
I got the 64bit version of windows 7 from my the Microsoft Acedmic Alliance program. I downloaded it on my parents windows machine burned the .iso with nero and I went throught the boot camp assistant it asked me to put in the disk. the computer rebooted and then it was a black screen. The

I have a copy of Windows 7 Pro x64 (Downloaded an ISO from DigitalRiver and burned to a DVD. I paid for the license back in october. it was a digital download.)
I was going to download the 3.1 bootcamp update, but saw it was an exe which I guess means I have to install it in Windows after I install the OS?

Everything seems to install fine, it goes through the whole process and then restarts which leaves me with a black screen ever after 30 mins.
I tried doing the whole process over again from the beginning while I went to the store. Came back and it appeared the computer was sleeping so I clicked the magic mouse and the computer awoke with a black screen still.
(Found this interesting because doesn't that mean the bluetooth is working fine?)
I am at a loss guys? What should I do to get Windows 7 Pro x64 working on my iMac?

When I start my macbook If I don't hold the options key it goes straight to an apple than circle with line through it. If I hold options key I get two hard drives one that says just hard drive one that says windows. Windows seems to work fine other than the missing drivers for the Ethernet, wireless airport, and a few others. I have tried everything. I for some reason cannot get to the mac side. It doesn't even show up and nothing relating to bootcamp shows up. I split the partitions 35G to windows the rest to "mac" side. I would be just as happy with installing the drivers if I could get them installed I know very little about Mac's and should have left well enough alone.

Everytime I start skype while in windows, the computer crashes and I get the blue screen... I think it has to do with the sound drivers, because when I'm using msn messenger also in windows suddenly the microphone mutes itself.
I tryed updating the realtek drivers with no help, updated skype, no help, I uninstalled the realtek drivers and the laptop did not crash anymore but I had no sound, any advice like for example how to get the microsoft drivers to work on the laptop without using realtek??
For whatever reason with the microsoft drivers,I think the sound is trying to come out of the digital outlet, I can see the ligth inside the jack, but nothing comes out of the laptop's speakers...
By the way, the vista version is Home basic.
I remember reading about something last month where you can bring the Windows start menu to your regular Snow Leopard taskbar and stuff. I can't seem to find it.

Everything's been fine, but now all of a sudden, windows won't start through boot camp. When I start up the computer, I select boot camp and it freezes. Still works through VMWare.

I've been out of the country for the last 5 months, but when I left my computer, safe and sound at home, XP booted fine with Boot Camp. I had the latest Mac OS software as of August 2008.
Now, I've returned and the first thing I did was Software update and refresh my system. I've tried to boot in Windows, and I got a black screen with a blinking white underscore on the top left corner - the operating system doesn't load.
Does anyone know of any software updates that could have affected my Windows installation? I somehow doubt that, without use, the Windows installation managed to screw itself up, but I suppose it is Windows, isn't it?
I recently bought a macbook pro and need to run some windows programs for work. Is it possible to start my mac and have it go the screen where I can pick either mac or windows for it to start in? I know I can default to one or the other and I know I can hit the option key when starting and get it to the choice screen - I was just hoping I could start the mac and have it go to the choice screen and then I have the option of choosing which op sys I need.

Then tonight it just shut off instead of sleeping and now it won't start. All I can get if I'm lucky is the start up chime and a super quick flash of a white screen.

I just installed bootcamp and the drivers from the apple cd, it went smoothly. It was installed on a new 20GB partition. I use Windows XP,and OS X 10.5.7. Now,after the windows was installed, I restarted my mac, hold option and chose the OS X partition, there was the apple logo then a blue screen,and it stayed that way. Blue screen was changed by a bluish-gray screen every 25 seconds or so,but that was short and it got back to the normal blue screen. That went on for sometime and I had to hold the off button for 5 seconds to turn it off. I tried starting os x from safe mode, it took longer to start, but it still wouldn't work. I used the "Bootable Utilities" disk,and opened Disk Utility,and Disk Warrior,checked the disk,they didn't find any errors.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently installed windows 7 (7001) on a new drive (750gb) and re-formatted my old windows 7 drive (80gb) to be used as a backup for OS X. After that the windows boot drive was not available at start-up. Here is how it went:
original set up:
HD (os x)
Windows drive (80gb)
after new drive:
HD (os x)
windows drive (80gb and 750gb) I had windows 7 installed on both drives and at windows boot was given two choices of windows 7.
This worked fine until I reformatted the old 80gb drive to be a second mac drive and at start-up the windows boot drive was not visible only HD (os x). The windows drive is still visible on the os x desktop (all files are visible) but not under "disk startup" in the preferences pane.
current set-up:
HD (os x)
mac backup (80gb)
windows 7 (750gb) not bootable
I tried booting from windows 7 disk to repair but it does not recognize any bootable windows drive. Should I go through bootcamp utility to repair the windows drive?
Did some software updates to the Windows side of the Mac via Bootcamp the other day and now whenever my backup drive is plugged in to my computer (always is) the Mac will boot into Windows by default. I checked the startup disk and reset them back to Mac, but it doesn't matter. If the drive is connected it will now always boot in to windows by default. If I unplug the drive and start up the machine it goes in to Mac just fine. Not exactly sure wtf happened.

So I turned it off and back on, but the windows parition wouldn't start up while loading. Neither did mac, unless I used the safe boot. It wouldn't detect my mouse, and I had to replug it. And finally, I discovered my sound didn't work. It shows that its at top volume, and its locked, with a transparent volume icon. So I can't listen to anything, use my windows parition, and I have to use safe boot (which takes about five minutes) to start up my mac parition. Is there any way to fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded Windows 7 (64-bit) from my school's software hub and burned it to a bootable disc. I partitioned my drive, and was able to boot from the installation CD. Now, for some reason, my copy of Windows 7 must be different from EVERYBODY else's, because when I start, it asks for the language, and then I click begin install. Here's where the problem comes. I immediately get a dialogue box that says I am missing a required device driver in order to continue the installation. Please insert the CD, USB, etc. with the required drivers. (Of course, it doesn't tell me what they are.) Now, here is where I would put in my Snow Leopard disk, if it weren't for the fact that the disk refuses to eject. So, I can't even begin the installation at all. Is there somewhere I can go on the disk to find these drivers and put them on a USB flash drive? Or any other work around for this?

Not sure what i should do considering that i can still access the drive and files from the MAC Side. I can also get to the boot screen to select safe mode but that also does nothing.

I just ran my bootcamp partition for the first time on my newly installed Parallels. But when I ran it for the second time, the Win 7 loading icon no longer popped up. Instead, the Vista loading bars appeared and now appear each time I run Parallels, though Win 7 desktop will load up after the Vista loading bar.

I have a Mac Mini and I am running Snow Leopard and BootCamp 3.0. I am trying to install Windows XP. I'm using BootCamp to partition the disk. I've tried with different sizes, the outcome was the same. After partitioning I can see the Bootcamp volume in Finder and on the desktop. Bootcamp then tells that I can start the installation. The Windows XP CD is in the drive. Restart follows. And then nothing but the gray screen. No installation starts. I have to shut down the computer and start it again.
This time I hold the option key and there is only the Mac OS volume! There is no sign from the BootCamp volume. After starting the computer again it doesn't boot from the Mac OS volume, there is the gray screen only, which means that the startup disk have been changed and that usually happens when you install windows with bootcamp - it changes the startup volume from Mac OS to the BootCamp volume, but still the BootCamp volume is not there. I've installed Windows XP with BootCamp several times. I know how it works. Installation starts automatically after the restart.
I am currently on a macbook that I bought in the summer of 2008, and I just decided I wanted to be able to run Windows on my laptop. I found my WindowsXP installation disk, a factory disk, and opened up boot camp to install Windows. I was following instructions from another thread on another computer I have at home. I got through partitioning my disk and got the windowsXP installation ready to begin when I realized I couldn't find my MacOSX disk, and thus wouldn't be able to install the Windows drivers after installing Windows (I was running Mac OS X 10.5.8), so I stopped the installation there and un-partitioned my harddrive. I then ordered Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3, and I just received the CD today. I installed Snow Leopard, then did the same thing that I did before with boot camp and partitioned my drive. However, this time when I got to the part where I put in my Windows disk, the computer reboots and starts, but the Windows installation won't begin. It just sits at a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left corner. I've tried giving it over 30 minutes to start but it just won't go. Logically I would assume there's a problem with the disk, but I used this same disk less than a week ago and got halfway through the installation without any problems. Why won't my WindowsXP installer disk boot up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave had boot camp working just how I wanted it (default boot into W7) since day 1, but have just had a problem! All of a sudden, the MBP boots into OSX by default. If I hold option (alt), I do have the option to boot into windows, but under disk utility in OSX, it cant see my W7 partition! Even when I boot into W7 manually, boot camp control panel only has OSX as the only boot disk! I have searched and returned a few instances of this, but all have the complication of people using NTFS tools, I havnt done that.

I have an older MacBook and when I bought it, from a friend, it already had windows running on it. Just the other day I went to restart my computer and all I got want the black screen saying that the computer was turned off wrong and to choose the start up mode. I tried the last known option and nothing happened besides restarting to the same screen. Then I tried the normal mode and that didn't work and safe mode did the same thing, starting back up to the black screen. Is there something that I can do/fix, or does this require some professional.
