Sep 26, 2009I want my DVDs to auto start with the main menu when inserted into a DVD player.Do I do this by going to the "MAP" in iDVD, clicking on the MAIN MENU, doing a "CMD i", and ticking both "Intro" and "Outro" under the "Background" heading?

Aug 20, 2010I run CheckPoint Full Disk Encryption on my MBP 13. It normally has a status icon in the menu bar that I can right click on to get a status of the the program.
Well it is missing now however there is still a process being shown in the Activity Monitor, FDEStatusMenu, that is for that.
Is there anyway I could go into Terminal and restart that show it shows the icon? (There are no menu options to show it)

Feb 7, 2009When my Mac boots it opens load of apps in my menu bar (InsomniaX, iAlertU, LogMeIn, EverNote) this is annoying, uses memory (probably) and it makes it look cluttered how do i stop them from loading.
I have checked the preferences in each app and there is nothing there and there is nothing in Login items in accounts in system prefs.

Mar 8, 2009First off, let me explain the position I am in. I have the newest 13in MacBook with a 2.4Ghz hard drive. I installed Windows Vista on it recently after I got it. Many times while using Vista, all audio would stop and be replaced with crackling sounds. This would continue until I restarted. I tried going to Dell, downloading drivers for the Broadcom 802.11n WiFi Adapters and installing those, but that caused a worse problem. Windows can no longer find any networks, and when I select the Broadcom WiFi Adapters in Device Manager, it says "This device cannot start." and says it's Code 10 or something.

Nov 12, 2009This is my first post here... even though, I've read a lot of the things on this forum, but never decided to post a question 'til now... now that i bought a macbook pro that is.
Actually I have some sort of annoyance with boot camp. It works as it's intended (with windows 7, which is a miracle, because everyone complains about that combination). But whenever I boot up and press "alt" to select the hard drive i want to boot, it always shows Windows. Can i change it for something else? and, how can I do it? Both of my partitions have names of their own... they're not generic... but still, they are not working, what can I do??

Jan 3, 2011I have a macpro with OSX on one drive and windows 7 on a partition of another drive. Both systems work fine and I boot into windows by holding the option key down. What is odd is if I go to the system preferences startup disk my windows install does not show up. I did move my windows partition a while ago to a new drive. I used bootcamp to create the partition and winclone to move the data. It's not a big deal not having the option in the preference pain but would be nice. If I am in windows and go to the bootcamp control panel both OS X and Windows are there.

Jul 16, 2009im using boot camp for windows 7 and recently started to use vmware and ever since then the start up time is horribly long when before it was very fast. it takes a long time to get to the log in screen and then when i get to the desktop it stays black for a while longer. its not the worst thing in the world and a small price to pay to be able to run my boot camp partition alongside os x but i just want to make sure vmware is the culprit because if it isn't i might need to do some more digging to find the real problem.
btw im talking about starting windows through boot camp not through vmware.

I downloaded it on my parents windows machine burned the .iso with nero and I went throught the boot camp assistant it asked me to put in the disk. the computer rebooted and then it was a black screen. The disk is a bootable disk because I used the same disk to install it on my parents windows laptop.

Jan 20, 2010Just heard about the new support for Windows 7 yesterday.
I have a copy of Windows 7 Pro x64 (Downloaded an ISO from DigitalRiver and burned to a DVD. I paid for the license back in october. it was a digital download.)
I was going to download the 3.1 bootcamp update, but saw it was an exe which I guess means I have to install it in Windows after I install the OS?

Everything seems to install fine, it goes through the whole process and then restarts which leaves me with a black screen ever after 30 mins.
I tried doing the whole process over again from the beginning while I went to the store. Came back and it appeared the computer was sleeping so I clicked the magic mouse and the computer awoke with a black screen still.
(Found this interesting because doesn't that mean the bluetooth is working fine?)
I am at a loss guys? What should I do to get Windows 7 Pro x64 working on my iMac?
P.S. this is the imac I have:
27-inch: 3.06GHz, ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB, 4GB RAM
OS X :: Possible To Show Open Windows In Menu Bar?
Nov 22, 2008I know this is a Windows type thing, but it's something I like when I Bootcamp into XP. I switch between windows a lot, and it's nice how on XP in the taskbar at the bottom all the windows are displayed. I know I can do CMD + Tab, I know I can do the display all windows, but it's just a lot easier this way. I sit back in my chair a lot while browsing the internets and its easier if I can do it with my mouse. I was wondering if the active windows can be displayed in the upper menu bar, not the Dock, because mine autohides and it would be easier in the menu.

Dec 27, 2009I've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.

Dec 16, 2010I recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?

Jan 20, 2009I'm running the latest update of Leopard and Windows XP SP2 in a 20 GB FAT32 partition, on a 24" iMac Al (Fall 2007). I've been out of the country for the last 5 months, but when I left my computer, safe and sound at home, XP booted fine with Boot Camp. I had the latest Mac OS software as of August 2008.
Now, I've returned and the first thing I did was Software update and refresh my system. I've tried to boot in Windows, and I got a black screen with a blinking white underscore on the top left corner - the operating system doesn't load.
Does anyone know of any software updates that could have affected my Windows installation? I somehow doubt that, without use, the Windows installation managed to screw itself up, but I suppose it is Windows, isn't it?

Is it possible to start my mac and have it go the screen where I can pick either mac or windows for it to start in? I know I can default to one or the other and I know I can hit the option key when starting and get it to the choice screen - I was just hoping I could start the mac and have it go to the choice screen and then I have the option of choosing which op sys I need.

Jun 22, 2009I just installed bootcamp and the drivers from the apple cd, it went smoothly. It was installed on a new 20GB partition. I use Windows XP,and OS X 10.5.7. Now,after the windows was installed, I restarted my mac, hold option and chose the OS X partition, there was the apple logo then a blue screen,and it stayed that way. Blue screen was changed by a bluish-gray screen every 25 seconds or so,but that was short and it got back to the normal blue screen. That went on for sometime and I had to hold the off button for 5 seconds to turn it off. I tried starting os x from safe mode, it took longer to start, but it still wouldn't work. I used the "Bootable Utilities" disk,and opened Disk Utility,and Disk Warrior,checked the disk,they didn't find any errors.

Aug 30, 2009I recently installed windows 7 (7001) on a new drive (750gb) and re-formatted my old windows 7 drive (80gb) to be used as a backup for OS X. After that the windows boot drive was not available at start-up. Here is how it went:
original set up:
HD (os x)
Windows drive (80gb)
after new drive:
HD (os x)
windows drive (80gb and 750gb) I had windows 7 installed on both drives and at windows boot was given two choices of windows 7.
This worked fine until I reformatted the old 80gb drive to be a second mac drive and at start-up the windows boot drive was not visible only HD (os x). The windows drive is still visible on the os x desktop (all files are visible) but not under "disk startup" in the preferences pane.
current set-up:
HD (os x)
mac backup (80gb)
windows 7 (750gb) not bootable
I tried booting from windows 7 disk to repair but it does not recognize any bootable windows drive. Should I go through bootcamp utility to repair the windows drive?
OS X :: Updated BootCamp Now Mac Start Into Windows By Default
Sep 9, 2009Did some software updates to the Windows side of the Mac via Bootcamp the other day and now whenever my backup drive is plugged in to my computer (always is) the Mac will boot into Windows by default. I checked the startup disk and reset them back to Mac, but it doesn't matter. If the drive is connected it will now always boot in to windows by default. If I unplug the drive and start up the machine it goes in to Mac just fine. Not exactly sure wtf happened.
