Every time I start up heaps of the finder windows appear and plays havoc on the system by freezing. I recently downloaded a .rar file and extractor program so not sure if that might have something to do with it.

Everytime I start skype while in windows, the computer crashes and I get the blue screen... I think it has to do with the sound drivers, because when I'm using msn messenger also in windows suddenly the microphone mutes itself.
I tryed updating the realtek drivers with no help, updated skype, no help, I uninstalled the realtek drivers and the laptop did not crash anymore but I had no sound, any advice like for example how to get the microsoft drivers to work on the laptop without using realtek??
For whatever reason with the microsoft drivers,I think the sound is trying to come out of the digital outlet, I can see the ligth inside the jack, but nothing comes out of the laptop's speakers...
By the way, the vista version is Home basic.
I have safari set to open up when I boot up my computer using the login items for my user account.
But when I start up my computer, instead of opening up a window, it starts up safari in the dock, but never actually opens a window. When I click on the icon in the dock the page will open up. Its acting as if I hid(CMD+H) the page. I know safari is open and it loaded the homepage, but the window wont actually open.
I've tried it on two different computers, Macbook pro, mac pro with same issue on both.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just using my 13" MBP and using Parallels when the whole computer locked up. I had to turn off the computer by holding down the on/off button. Unfortunately, now the computer will not start up in OS X. Interestingly, I had linked my Windows side of the computer so that it can be opened in Parallels or Bootcamp; I can get the Bootcamp Windows side to start up with no problems (I'm using it now to write this).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to MAC and in this forum.Lately I've had problems with my Mac Book Pro (15 "OSX 10.7.3) especially now that I made the OSX update. Is inhibited if the computer is idle and we must force it off, holding down the power button.Â
When the computer is restarted, usually three things happens:
1) The computer boots normally
2) Shown instead of the apple icon, an icon with a "-" and never starts, or
3) It shows a progress bar process that takes a long time in advance and then boots normally.I need to know how to do a clean install and reinstall the programs useful, considering that I have no Lion operating system on a DVD, as this was bought from Apple online store.
So I unplugged my Mac Book Pro, left town for a month, it started for a bit, then screen went blue. I shut it down, and now it will not restart it makes a beep sound I've never heard!Â

Lately whenever i start up my computer the clock changes to 2000 and some random time, there are also about 5 pop-ups from finder asking me if i want to allow programs. I fix the clock problem by going into the time settings and click the unlock button but i have to do this everytime i start up my mac. I attached a screenshot of what pop ups come up.

First off, let me explain the position I am in. I have the newest 13in MacBook with a 2.4Ghz hard drive. I installed Windows Vista on it recently after I got it. Many times while using Vista, all audio would stop and be replaced with crackling sounds. This would continue until I restarted. I tried going to Dell, downloading drivers for the Broadcom 802.11n WiFi Adapters and installing those, but that caused a worse problem. Windows can no longer find any networks, and when I select the Broadcom WiFi Adapters in Device Manager, it says "This device cannot start." and says it's Code 10 or something.

Allright so my girlfriend accidentally spilled a drink on her macbook the other day. We thought we had cleaned it off and everything was fine. We were mistaken. During normal usage the computer crashed so we restarted it and are now greeted upon startup with a gray screen and a gray application folder with a question mark on it flashing repeatedly. What is the course of action guys? I'm not computer whiz and I'm wondering if we can fix this ourselves without having to take it in for repair. And FYI she does not have apple care

I have been using my parents OS X login primarily for my computer life. I have made videos, played games, etc. using one account. But I decided to make my own account, and have had some success transferring files. However, the permissions are still set to the other account. So in iMovie, I can watch my videos but not edit them, since I have read-only permissions. I could easily go into finders "get info" menu and change permissions, but I have hundreds upon hundreds of imovie projects. So, how can I change the permissions of hundreds of files at a time? Editing the folders permission didn't work.
