View 2 RepliesEvery since Ive updated to Snow Leopard my amsn has been crashing, a lot. And besides that I cant get video calls, or at least share web cam with anybody any more, either it will crash or Ill be able to see the other person, but the other person wont see me.Ive updated to the latest 0.98 version, but no luck whatsoever. Ive been searching for help, but all the answers Ive got were related to Linux.

View 16 Replies View RelatedMy Mid 2009 MacBook Pro freezes regularly. There does not seem to be any pattern to when this happens. I do not get a grey screen, and it does not freeze for long. I have reinstalled Mavericks, and I have installed new RAM. Nothing I have tried as made a difference.

Outgoing mail regularly requires a password. This is something new. Has something/a preference been contaminated? Can this be easily remedied ?

My MacBook Pro OS 10.9.4 regularly "loses" my home printer, set up through my WIFI. Even though I can see it in the Printer Menu, it claims I am not connected. So, I delete said printer. When I go to add a new printer, it cannot find said printer and I cannot figure out how to manually tell it that it is sitting right here on my desk.

I have, what seems to be a common, an issue with pop up tabs regularly appearing across all browsers advertising 'MacKeeper'. I understand this is a trojan or malware.
I have tried to combat the problem by removing various files as suggested on other threads, removed extensions from my browsers, and today re installed OS X on the recommendation of Apple's online chat team, but am still experiencing the issue.

i just downloded amsn on my mac, but it doesn't work. when i send it, it seems to send it but the person who i send me webcam can't see me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since upgrading to SL, aMSN hasn't been supported, and its the only client I know of which offers webcam support for MSN. I was just wondering if anyone knew of an alternative program that supports SL as well as webcam for the MSN network.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI don't know much about this. I'll explain it as good as possible: I have a macbook (leopard) and I'm trying to use the aMSN. At first I was able to do it, but then I moved out and it doesn't work here since then. My roomemate operates the windows laptop wirelessly, so do I the mac, but I do have acces to the modem/router. I tried changing the attributes of the router (a westell versalink A90-750015-07 provided by verizon) and nothing happened. Then I read that I could try selecting : connecting using HTTP method, and I finally was able to log in, however I am not able to send or receive any messages. I see when contacts come online but they just don't receive my messages nor I get theirs. I noticed that the connection tab on aMSN says. Type: IP-restrict-NAT and also "you are firewalled or behind a router. So far, none of the methods explained here have helped.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on the latest update of Snow Leopard. It seems that if I leave the computer to go to the screensaver automatically, chances are that it may crash. I haven't changed my energy saver preferences for months - so if it is related to that it's not something I've changed.Looking in system.log you see lots of messages at crash time of "received notification of WindowServer event port death".Apple, are you investigating? This looks to me to be a serious problem. One of my colleagues is experiencing something similar. I switched to using using a mac in 2007 and immediately found it to be a better machine in every way (usability, reliability, design) than my previous windows laptop. [code]

As the thread title states, ever since I updated to snow leopard, both safari and firefox freeze up when I access the ESPN home page and occasionally a few other sites that I have never experienced problems with before on leopard. However, if i turn off the enable plug-ins button in the safari preferences pane, most of the sites work just fine. I thought it may be flash related but i have since updated the programs it it continues to freeze up on the ESPN page. side note, this happens on both my work and home computers (very different specs between the two).
View 19 Replies View Related I've got a MacBook 3,1 (White, late 08 model) which is happily connecting to the wireless network but refusing to use the internet. Other computers on the network use it fine.
What's more, when I restart to my bootcamp partition, the internet works fine. It's only in Mac OS that I have a problem.
I just bought a MacBook. So far I am loving it. Unfortunately a very strange thing happens. Whenever I download something with the Macbook every other device at my house becomes unable to connect to the internet until the download is finished. It doesn't matter if it is a WiFi device or not. The connected devices are: a WinXP Netbook, an ubuntu9.10 desktop PC (please notice this is connected with an Ethernet cable, it's not wifi), a WiFi and a Samsung Bluray reader. To complicate things even further, I noticed that even the MacBook itself cannot do anything else (such as browsing the web w/ Safari and/or Firefox). I tried to download large files such as a movie from iTunes store and the iPhone SDK. The download rate is about 600Kb/sec.
I have a 6Mb/sec DSL w/ AT&T and the modem is a 2WIRE 1701HG. Granted, it's pretty cool to have a laptop that can hose wireless networks. These are some info from my network:

I've recently moved into student accommodation, which only has wired internet access in the rooms. This is fine for my MacBook, but causes problems for the iPad! So I've been attempting to share the MacBook's internet connection through AirPort using the "Internet Sharing" option in System Prefs->Sharing. This works great, but after a while it disconnects for no apparent reason.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time my macbook is in sleep mode the internet disconnects (msn messenger shuts down, download stops etc.). I am not talking about closing the lid sleep mode because I am in desktop mode with an external display. Once I woke up my macbook it reconnects. Does anyone know how to stop this because I think it happened after 10.5.6.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've found many different explanations to why bluetooth on my Macbook would 'overheat' and then disconnect from all devices, only to show 'Bluetooth Not Responding'.
I was wondering if anyone has found a fix to this problem. I'm current on all updates running Snow Leopard. Normally, the bluetooth keyboard and mouse works for up to 5 minutes or so, but then loses its connection until it 'cools down' and then this process just repeats. The laptop is currently on a cooling fan and rarely needs the internal fan to even kick on so not sure what else to do.
Recently my macbook (running snow leopard) has started disconnecting from wifi after about half an hour, this is getting really frustrating, how can i stop it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Macbook 2009 continously disconnects itself from the airport and wifi. After it disconnects it takes about an hour to get it to work again. It is not my router because my iphone is still connected to wifi when this happens This also only happens at my home router.

Since upgrading to Yosemite my Wi-Fi connection is awful! It connects and disconnects every 10 seconds, this has only happened very recently so I think its linked to the upgrade to Yosemite...

I have a 17-inch MacBook Pro and a 27 inch Thunderbolt display. I've been using both for about 2 years now. On occasion, the display disconnects for no obvious reason. Unplugging it from my MacBook Pro and replugging it in seems to solve the problem, but its been happening more frequently lately.
View 1 Replies View Related1x Macbook 2.4Ghz, 4Gig RAM. December 08 model.
1x 24" monitor connected via DVI connector
1x USB mouse
1x mac wireless keyboard (was used on iMac 21.5" new 2010 model)
Latest version of Snow Leopard, patched to the latest on everything. Software update says that everything is up to date.
I've unregistered the keyboard with the iMac and associated it with the Macbook. I'm typing this message with the wireless keyboard no problems.
This is where the problem comes in, when I start up for example MacTheRipper, or Handbrake. Essentially any tool that kicks the CPU into overdrive the keyboard starts acting strangely.
Typing will go to a crawl, it takes longer for the letters to appear, as if in slow motion. It will popup the keyboard disconnect and reconnect image every once in a while and if I leave the keyboard for a while it will disconnect from bluetooth completely, when I then try to reconnect by tapping a key it doesn't connect for sometime. Even if I hold the key down for several seconds.
Once the program has completed processing and the CPU drops back down to nothing, the keyboard works just fine again.
Tonight I've been transfering all my files over from my old MacBook and everytime I try to connect my IPhone 3GS by USB to my Mac a message comes up straight away saying "A device conected to your computer is drawing too much power, apple has disconected this device to prevent damage occuring to your computer"
I have tried to connect my phone numerous times while it has been conected to the power cord and also running on battery.
It also took my new Mac a good half an hour to recognise my external hard drive was connected and let me use it..
I have had this problem once or twice with the same IPhone and my old mac so im thinking it may be a problem with my phone considering it is 2 years old now?
But then again, my old mac that is nearly 4 can still connect to my phone when my new MBP can't.

I have a MacBook Air 2011?Sometime, after a long standby, it wakes up with the built-in web camera disconnected.Facetime, Photo Booth, and Skype does not detect the camera, whilst for some reason, Google Chat inside Chrome actually sees it and is able to use it. Looking at the "About This Mac" I can see that the web camera is detected. However I am hoping that I don't have to keep rebooting it just to do a video call on skype.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a external SATA drive that was used on my old Windows laptop. The interface for the drive is USB 3.0. Whenever i try to view my files on the drive, the drive randomly disconnects, and notifications pop up saying that the drive was not ejected properly.
