MacBook Pro :: OSX Mavericks Regularly Loses WiFi Connected Printer?

Aug 20, 2014

My MacBook Pro OS 10.9.4 regularly "loses" my home printer, set up through my WIFI. Even though I can see it in the Printer Menu, it claims I am not connected. So, I delete said printer. When I go to add a new printer, it cannot find said printer and I cannot figure out how to manually tell it that it is sitting right here on my desk.

OS X Mavericks :: MacBook Pro Loses And Finds Printer?

Jun 4, 2014

I first installed Mavericks a couple weeks ago, onto a refurbed MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion, then used Migration Assistant to move data from and old MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. The first couple of days, things printed normally. Then suddenly, while the laptop 'saw' the printer, it wouldn't print to it, and said I needed to install printing software. I uninstalled and reinstalled printer driversfor over an hour, finally gave up, and did the print job from another Mac.

A few days later, I printed something from the new Mac, just like normal. Things were fine, until today. Again, it won't send data to the printer and says I need to install the software. Well I don't, obviously.

Besides the laptop running Mavericks, the printer in question is a Canon MP560, which still communicates fine with 2 Macs running Snow Leopard, and Windows 7 running in Parallels. It is networked into my wifi running off an Airport Extreme.

On the side, I also have the unsolvable Mav issue with the Wi-Fi disconnecting everytime it wakes from sleep unless I shutt off Bluetooth, not sure if that has anything to do with  this issue or not.

OS X Mavericks :: Connected To Wifi But Not To Internet

Jun 3, 2014

I just got a referbrished macbook pro retina and I'm having issues connecting to the internet. My old macbook pro, as well as every single other device, is able to connect to the internet without issue. My new macbook, however, isn't able to. Everything is typed in correctly as it is connecting to the router. Just no internet. However, there is one strange difference between my old macbook and my new macbook. The old one has a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 while the new one has 255.255.0.0. The old one also has router information under the subnet mask, while the new one is blank.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Internet Connection Cutting Out Regularly Despite Wifi Signal Being Strong

Apr 30, 2012

I am having internet connection issues with my MacBook Pro 2011 - running the latest version of Lion OSX. My connection cuts out regularly (every 10 - 15 minutes) despite having a full wifi signal. It is happening on two different routers, in two different locations with two different ISP's.

When I run Network Diagnostics ISP is the test that fails, but after a couple of seconds diagnostics fixes it until the next 10 - 15 minutes. The only other alternative is turning wifi off and on. Both of these only last for the 10 - 15 minutes before it cuts out again.

It is very frustrating and research online seems to indicate it is a Lion issue. I have made an appointment with a genius, but browsing online it appears there is no solution. It is not acceptable.

OS X Mavericks :: Connecting IMac To WiFi Direct Printer

Jun 4, 2014

I just bought an iMac.  my husband bought a Dell XPS 2730.  Of course, we discovered that we could not both connect to our old printer without some very technical stuff beyond our ken.  So we bought a new wifi direct Brother printer,I can't even see the printer from my iMac. I have downloaded the latest drivers for it from Apple. The printer is all set up and can see my iMac.

OS X Mavericks :: 10.9.3 / MacBook Air Loses Connection To Internet But Not LAN

Aug 22, 2014

I am using a MacBook Air 11" (mid-2012) running OS X Mavericks (10.9.3). I'm connecting to my home LAN via WiFi connection to a TP-Link 300M Wireless router that is setup as a switch (per instructions here [URL] ...., which in turn is connected via wire (ethernet-over-power) to a Technicolor cable modem/router provided by my ISP (UPC in the Netherlands; I can look up the model number of the router if needed, but it's two floors down right now and doesn't strike me that this is the cause of the problem).

I have a problem that my MacBook Air intermittently loses connectivity to the internet for extended periods (minutes) even though (a) the MacBook Air maintains full connectivity to my LAN at the same time through WiFi and (b) other computers connected to the cable modem/router maintain their connection to the internet while my MacBook Air has lost its connection.

My test to see where the breakdown is occurring is to have four terminal windows up and running ping processes:

1) ping to 192.168.0.1 (my router) - this always stays live, with essentially no lost packets

2) ping to an external address (I'm using 74.125.136.94, a google.nl address) - this is my main test for access to the internet and where I see ping failures (I'm also testing with pings to other sites when the problem is occurring to ensure it's not something on the remote end).

3) ping to 192.168.0.13, which is a Synology NAS attached via ethernet cable to my main cable modem/router - this always stays live, with essentially no lost packets.

4) a login to the Synology NAS, where I am also running a continual ping to 74.125.136.94, and this external ping does NOT fail when the one from my MacBook Air does, it stays live with essentially no lost packets.

The problem will usually correct itself after 1-3 minutes (though the time is not consistent), and also gets corrected if I turn the MacBook Air's WiFi off and on again.

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Get Internet / Saying Connected To WiFi

Nov 21, 2009

I have a MacBook pro that I'm having issues with. It connects to my home Wi-Fi (the n version of the Apple Airport Base Station) and I get a strong signal but whether I use Firefox or any other web browser or internet based program I get a message that I'm not connected to the internet. I can even select network diagnostics and it walks me through steps where I choose my network, reset my cable modem, base station, etc. and at the end it says it is unable to fix the problem. i have a 2nd MBP that I use on the same network with no issues at all. This issue started showing up about a month ago but did not happen often. Most of the time it happened when I had shut my MBP down since I had to go take it with me to meetings. Often after removing the battery for a minute I could boot up and it would work but now no matter what I do it won't work.

MacBook :: WiFi Slowdown When Connected To TV (No External Monitor)

Sep 28, 2009

I have a strange problem with a WiFi slowdown when connected to a TV. Here are the specs of the equipment:
2.2 Ghz white macbook, santa rosa, 4 gb ram, purchased January 2008
Panasonic TV connected via HDMI to DVI cable + Apple Mini DVI to DVI connector
USB Western Digital harddrive connected to a 500 GB Time Capsule (1st edition, no dual channels)
Snow leopard 10.6.1

Before upgrading to snow leopard, I would frequently use the macbook to provide video to the above mentioned TV streamed from a hard drive connected to an imac (connected to the same time capsule). I moved, and upgraded to snow leopard, and haven't tried this until finished setting up my equipment yesterday. I can stream videos to the macbook from this hard drive fine when nothing is connected. However, the moment I plug in the mini-DVI connector, the WiFi drops to a crawl. This applies not only the to air disk but any data from the network (internet, etc.)

A couple of additional notes: Display is set to mirror. Has nothing to do with clamshell mode because the macbook isn't closed. Nothing to do with location/interference- the effect is instantaneous with plugging and unplugging the cable. The base station is actually closer than in my previous setup and is pretty much 20 feet away in direct line of sight. I connect to another external monitor daily at work (vga, again with apple mini dvi to vga adapter)- no issue whatsoever restart did not help. I canceled all time machine backups over the network to limit that as a factor- no effect.

MacBook Pro :: Using Wifi - Connected To Internet But Pages Won't Load?

Jul 30, 2010

I tried ringing apple but unbeknownst to me my warranty has expired so wanted to see could I fix it before using money that was intended for my new iPhone. Right, so yesterday I used a friends o2 dongle and I was asked did I want to save internet settings, I said yes - not knowing what I was saving (silly silly).

I had to do work at my old college but was unable to connect to wifi. Went to the IT lads and they fixed it - sort of - I could access the Internet but no sites that required a log in eg gmail facebook.

I am now at home and on my iPod typing this as my Mbp won't connect to the Internet! It was connecting to the wifi provider, have full signal but won't load the pages. I know it can't be the wifi as my iPod works fine.
