Mac Mini :: Airport Won't Turn On It

Feb 1, 2012

I have a Mac mini (intel) which was running happily running a fully updated leopard os, then for no aparent reason the airport would not turn on rendering wifi conections impossible. after hours of hunting for help and finding none i bought snow leopard and did a full install in the hope of retifying the problem. unfortunate the problem is still there, sometimes it says airport card not installed sometimes its there, but whatever it says nothing happens when i try to turn it on i press the turn on button but nothing happens. for fear of the card itsself being faulty i bought a usb wifi dongle, istalled it as per the instructions yet still i cannot get wirelessly on the internet?

Mac Mini :: Mac Mini - Computer That Loses Airport Connection?

Aug 21, 2009

I have the current generation $599 Mac Mini, with Nvidia graphics (just to clarify the model).

My wireless network is setup from an Airport Express.

My iMac, Powerbook, iPhones, Apple TV, Wii, etc. can all stay connected without problem.

However, my Mac Mini loses the connection constantly. It shows full signal, but then it drops out 100 percent for a few minutes, nonstop all day. It makes it completely useless effectively.

What kind of settings and things could I try to change?

Or, is this likely a hardware issue?

OS X :: Airport Turns Off And Won't Turn On?

Mar 21, 2009

My airport/wireless works fine most of the time, but sometimes when I close the lid, and reopen it, my airport will not turn back on. It turns on neither automatically nor through the preference pane. The button to turn airport on is clickable, but nothing happens.

I'm new to Macs, and I like them so far. But this is getting really annoying as the only way I've found to fix it is to restart the computer.

MacBook :: Airport Won't Turn Off?

Nov 22, 2009

So I went to my in-laws house and for some reason I couldn't connect to their Airport/Router. I was on it once before and none of the settings were changed because I was on the router with my iPhone at that point. So I tried to turn off my Airport on my Mac just to see if that would work, and it won't turn off. I restarted my computer and nothing, still stays on. I turned off my Time Machine just to see if that was the issue and it wasn't. I will probably make an appointment with Apple and maybe call Applecare, but just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas here 1st.

I am now back at home and stuff can't turn it off. If it helps I am running Snow Leopard on my Mac.

OS X :: Airport Keeps Turning Off On My MBP And Can't Turn It Back On?

Oct 31, 2010

I have a Macbook Pro 17" 2.6 GHZ. Model A1261.

The Airport keeps turning off and I can't turn it back on only after a restart, then it will work for another few minutes and then the same problem happens again.

Once it turns off when I click on "turn Airport On" nothing happens.

Will buying a new airport card help for my problem? and if yes what exactly do I need to buy.

I already tried a few other things like resetting etc. but no luck.

Software :: Airport Won't Turn On Without Restart

Oct 4, 2010

Whenever I shut the lid and reopen later, airport does not turn on. I cannot get it to turn on manually. Twice, it has said "Airport Card Not Installed" when I right clicked it.

Additionally, the whole mac froze up twice yesterday. Any ideas on how to refresh or clean up things?

I tried to find a utility or update, but none were found. I looked manually, and couldn't find anything. I tried the disk utility, but it came back saying nothing was wrong.

The option to "turn AirPort on" is grayed out and cannot be clicked. I have attached two pictures to illustrate. I have restarted twice to no avail.

OS X :: Cannot Turn Off AirPort - Pulsing Icon For Network

Oct 2, 2009

I've got 2 wifi networks that I use in my flat. I like to use the right one depending on what part of the flat I'm in to get the best signal. They are both password protected. Lately I haven't been able to connect to one of them. When I choose it from the list of networks in airport, it just pulses the icon in the menu bar and then reverts back to the other network which has a worse signal when I am in that part of the flat. When I try to access other locked networks I get a pop up asking to enter password. But with my own network I don't get this pop up - just the pulsing icon. Further I can't even turn off airport. I try to turn it off in system preferences by pressing the turn off airport button but nothing happens.

Macbook white.
Mid 2009 version.
Using snow leopard.

Now I can't connect to either of my networks, getting connection failed notices. I know the networks are still working because my housemates can still connect with their laptops.

OS X :: Airport Won't Turn On After Brother Printer Driver Installation?

After I installed Snow Leopard everything has been working fine but I installed the latest Brother fax/printer driver and supporting apps yesterday Airport stopped working. So I restarted the computer but still won't turn on, no matter what I do. I'm not 100% sure if they are related but it's hard to believe they are not. I can remove all the Brother related stuff but I still need the printer driver.

OS X :: WiFi Drops If Overloaded - Turn Airport Off & On To Restart Connection?

Jul 10, 2010

I used to have a problem with my late-2006 13" white MacBook where, if I opened up a bunch of Safari tabs/windows at a time, or a bunch too quickly, or was downloading podcasts with iTunes and opened up another internet-dependent app?my wireless connection would drop. I would still see the full signal strength in the menu bar (all four "bars" of that rounded signal monitor), but the Up and Down activity would drop to 0.

The only way to re-start the connection was to click on the signal monitor, select Turn Airport Off, and then just select Turn Airport (back) On. Only then, would the connection come back on. This was a pain, especially if I was in the middle of a big download, as I usually had to restart the whole download..................

It was working good but I noticed that waking it from sleep the machine will click and the sleep light goes out and a red led behind the grill comes on briefly. I try pushing the power button to hear another click and the red led flashes. These problems seem intermittent and sometimes it will sleep fine. Im using 2 acer monitors connected via 2 vga-mini display adaptors.

Mac Mini :: How Well Would AirPort Extreme Work

Oct 13, 2010

Possibly in the market for a MacMini but was wondering how well it would work if I streamed video files, mostly .avi files from an external HD connected to my Airport Extreme. Does processor speed matter, or is more important to have a good WiFi/internet connection?

I was going to buy a Mini and then upgrade the HD/RAM, but if I can get away with getting a base model and simply stream videos and other files from the drives that I have shared over the network, it would certainly save me a ton of money.
